I noticed that under the hypothetical scoring system posited by this site, passing TDs are back to 4 pts (yahoo bumped them to 6 for last season), so at least it makes some sense that nobody’s rushing (get it?.. rushing) to grab a qb.
And PKs are nerfed, as are defenses (INTs are typically worth 2 in yahoo, only 1 here), so we’re all pretty well served to stick with skill players.
And we’re drafting 16 players for a starting squad of 8, so that should be interesting.

Maybe I could get a friend to join? He’s the biggest football fan I know, he’d love this. I’ll send him a quick email if that’s desirable… I don’t see how it would work to have one of us just randomly make a pick for the vacant team.
I just picked for Team 2, but it’s certainly up for grabs. I don’t think anyone would be opposed to having Harrison and Alexander. I almost pulled the trigger on McNabb or Culpepper, but shied away. QBs are worthless.

Ah, wasn’t paying close attention to the rules. 4 pts for passing TDs. Ok, so Vick was a horrible first pick because of the premium on running and passing TDs. Oh well.
Ok, so what kind of time frame are we aiming at here? There is a “max time” of 12 hours? Is anyone going to get mad if there are hours taken for one person’s pick? (I won’t.)

Vick actually is one of the best QBs with this set up, as he’s in prime position to rack up more rushing TDs than other QBs. However, regardless of scoring, elite QBs just don’t have the separation from the 2nd tier QBs compared to their RB counterparts. Personally, I don’t pick a QB until Rd. 5 at the earliest, unless there’s a glaring ommission. Sometimes I’ll wait until Rd. 9!
Correct. But have someone take Team 4 first, as they’re up sooner.
WL, you’re absolutely right about Edge. He’s a great value this year, as he shouldn’t go in the 1st because there’s too many good options there, has the potential to be a Top Three back, and won’t produce less than a Rd. 2 RB should.
Last season in many drafts I didn’t take a QB until the early teen rounds. I had my sights set on what I called the Two Trents – Green and Dilfer. In one yahoo public league I got Trent Green in round 13 of 16 and picked up Fiedler after the draft. Dilfer of course didn’t work out but I never took him higher than 14 or 15 so no big loss.
I’m curious to see what happens with the next few picks we have here. I agree with you, Munch – nobody really suggests themself as the obvious top QB to take.
