Celebrity Apprentice 2011

HOLY CRAP! NeNe going off like that at the beginning, she really felt like she was cutting her own throat. Not only going off in such an unprofessional manner - in front of the client no less - but her tone and agression and attacks not just on Star but on the whole team, I was totally feeling like she was cutting her own throat. And sure enough, she “felt so alone” on that first day - NO SHIT. You did it to yourself.

I was surprised with the outcome. Watching the two shows, watching Farouk’s facial expressions through the shows, I felt like the women actually did better. They started with more energy with the music, the program was narrated throughout with what the products were and what was going on, and the speaker stressed the company’s theme of “Be Safe, Be Real, and Made in America”. They reiterated the “no ammonia” a couple times and generally did a better job on that front. The weak spot was Hope’s walk on stage with her preposterous hair, but what do I know about fashion hair, it often looks preposterous to me. But I thought NeNe wrapped up well, and Farouk seemed happy many times with the show.

Whereas with the men, it was quiet at the beginning (opened with Lil John talking on the mic rather than music), then had a dead zone where he was quiet while the stylists were working, not discussing the products or how they were being used. Finally when Nikki Taylor entered it turned better, but then he pulled the black guy in the raggedy afro up, who refused to let them cut his hair. WTF? Yeah, he’s supposed to be a celebrity, it just didn’t work for me. Farouk did not have happy expressions very much, they missed the stressing the no ammonia and safety, and frankly the Made In America didn’t come off as strong. Calling in Nikki was definitely a genius move, and great that she helped the men.

Frankly, I was happy but surprised that the men won. Too bad I didn’t get to see the rest of the showdown. I guess I will have to check NBC.com tomorrow.

I wonder why Star wears those outfits that make her look heavy? Tight pants are not her friend.

According to E!Online:

“I think Hope has been very much under the radar,” Trump said. “I think this show is going to make you a big star…but you don’t seem to be tough enough to go against them. Hope you’re fired.”

IOW, she got LaToya’d

Strangely enough I fell asleep during LaToya’s meeting with Trump… and was going to watch it on my phone. I happened to see the NYT and bin Laden’s story. So those of you on Usenet can see the uninterrupted ep. And if they set it up to crap on CA, that’s gangsta.

LaToya is back, which I agree was just. She was fucked over by trump and Nene so that to me was righting a wrong. Nene really is quite stupid. She could have killed the snake last week but chose to go apeshit after the fact. Dumb. She even managed to make me feel a pang of empathy for Star, which is ridiculous.

More later…

Dalton Ross agrees. (Does it need to be spoilered just because we haven’t seen it yet due to breaking international news? Hm.)

Thought I’d post this

Heh.

So all pretense of performance based eliminations are totally a sham now?

There’s no possible way last night’s elimination was anything more than a cheap ratings ploy. NeNe showed extreme nonprofessional behavior. She freaks out and curses repeatedly in front of Trump and the client?

No matter what, you can never act like that in front of a client. That would be instant termination at any job I’ve ever worked. That’s the most basic rule there is in an office. The client or customer is the most valuable asset a business has.

I may need to shut this fake crap off. I’m not watching a finale with Star or NeNe in it.

Now? This happens every season (well - not the cursing in front of clients).

Yeah – the shamminess of this became clear season before last, when Joan Rivers won.

Alas, I’ll stick out the rest of the season just because, but I think this time when I say never again (as I did after the Joan Rivers win), I’m going to follow through on it.

It’s been years since I watched a full season of Apprentice. The prize used to be a job with Trump. In that case, I assumed he wanted the best qualified person.

Anyway, live and learn. I won’t bother taking this show seriously anymore. I’ll keep watching because I like John Rich. I may not watch any seasons after this.

Donald Trump congratulates Obama, and calls for “End To ‘Party Politics’ Debate For ‘Next Several Days’”

http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2011/05/donald-trump-congratulates-obama-on-osama-bin-laden-killing-asks-for-end-to-party-politics-debate-fo.html

Is he proud of himself being proud of the American people?

So to recap the show - Trump went to the women and asked about the Nene meltdown. Nene went on like a harpy, incessantly about “backstabbingness” from Star. It almost seems as if something else happened that we didn’t see, off camera, because of course it’s blindingly obvious that Nene maneuvered herself directly under Star’s behind to kiss her ass in the boardroom. All the women were asked their opinion of Star, and all agreed that she was “bossy.”

LaToya was brought into the boardroom - made a great entrance - and was seated with the men. Trump explained that she asked for a second chance, that he’d never done it before and would never do it again - but he did it this one time. He asked her who she thought would be a better team player between Nene and Star, and she said Nene.

Hope got nailed by Ivanka, as she asked her if she was more of a follower, and why she hadn’t been more of a presence in the former tasks. Trump then went at her, saying she was beautiful and was younger, etc. - the prologue of death, and then gave her the pointy-finger.

Next week’s preview had Meat crying A LOT. I think he was assigned to the women’s team.

What happened to Meat, anyway? He used to be articulate but now it looks like he’s been Busey-fied.

Just like Meat should have been fired way back when he went completely apeshit on Busey, Nene should have been fired before this task even started. But alas, Trump needs ratings. I foresee a final 3 of John Rich, Star and Marlee.

Okay, I watched the rest on NBC.com.

First, I have to say on rewatching that after the dull beginning, the audience did get more excited and interactive with the men’s team, so I see how that fits. I don’t see why it was wrong for NeNe to let the stylist do the bulk of the talking about what products he was using and how he was using them, he certainly did a more informative job about that than the men’s team. That’s using the expertise of the people provided.

As for the boardroom, I see why Hope was ousted. She wasn’t even strong enough to defend herself in the boardroom, and frankly Trump didn’t give her much of a chance to defend herself. He wouldn’t let her finish her sentence to answer the question about why LaToya said she liked NeNe and hated Star after the mean things NeNe said, when she was trying to say she didn’t know what happened in the board room the previous time. But ultimately she couldn’t defend herself - when he let her speak she didn’t have anything to say.

But there is a definite difference between Star being bossy and arrogant and NeNe blowing up and having a screaming cursing fit, in front of the client no less. That NeNe doesn’t recognize that is one more example of why she is not a professional.

Is the last 20 minutes of the C.A. available where it is easily accessible w/o watching the whole fricking 2 hr episode? Y’know the part that was preempted? NBC had the last minute and half where Hope got fired.

While I agree with the first sentence, I acan’t get on board with the second sentence simplhy due to the fact that how someone acts in front of a fake client for a fake business project during a “game” is hardly a reflection on how she would act if she were in a real business situation. I am not syaing she would act reaonable or any differently, just that it has to be remembered this show has about as much to do with business as Guitar Hero does with real guitar playing.

Yes, if you go to NBC.com, select the program, and after the stupid ad runs and the show starts, select the slider at the bottom of the program and move it over manually to wherever you wish to start up. Then watch the stupid ad again and then the program will start from that point. If you’re off a little, that’s okay, you can move the slider manually, and then sit through the same stupid ad again, and then you watch from there.

(Yes I did this last night. And yes, that ad is very annoying - especially being forced to watch it a dozen times.)

Gangster Octopus, while I grant you this is a game show, and I don’t know how much if any these ad campaigns they design are actually used, I think it fair to think that the reactions of the people are their natural reactions to the situations they are placed in, as if they really were trying to do these advertising challenges. And NeNe blowing up like that is a very real display of her personality, and her inability to grasp professionalism. She threw a temper tantrum. I grant you that the editing of the program does have some effect on how the people come across, but there was nothing about NeNe’s tantrum that was not 100% her overreaction to the situation and her temper out of her control and her inability to grasp how to deal with difficult people or how to evaluate the appropriateness of the timing and the choice of language.

For example, I think the obvious difference in the perception about Meatloaf as commented upon in this thread is as much an effect of editing as anything. With Gary off the men’s team (Backbone), the show producers need to shape the stories. So they focus on the oddities of Meatloaf, because they have to play up something to stir up drama.

I’m curious about something: several times I’ve seen conversations in the board room turn into disagreements over what was said or done before, some of which we saw in the program ourselves. Is there a reason that video isn’t available? Is it a time thing, where they haven’t had the opportunity to review all the video they shot and know what they have and don’t have? Is it a choice on Trump’s part, because “real life” wouldn’t have a video backup?

This week was a joke! Enough already with Nene’s bad attitude, and Star’s feeling of superiority. Think outside the box people!

Make sure you catch the Obama - Trump video… along with Seth Myers…still lmao
