Celebrity Apprentice 2011

What was that deal Trump offered? Something about keeping the money?

Don’t the charities get the money regardless of which team won.

Usually the winning team also gets the money raised by the losing team. But since both teams in this case brought in record-breaking amounts, I guess Trump thought it would only be fair to let each have what they raised.

I think all the money raised by both teams goes to the charity of the winner. This allows the money the men raised to go to their manager’s charity instead of Marlee’s charity.

Oops -too late

Ok thanks.

I hope the celebrities didn’t blow their wad getting carried away. I don’t see Rich’s Nashville buddies flying to NY to give away another 400 grand. He’s pretty much done. Same with Marlee and her 600 grand (or more).

That Little John dude is sure quiet. Almost forget he’s even there. Then boom, in front of the crowd he goes ape shit. The mark of a true performer. Takes a crowd to get the juices going.

I gotta say, Maitlin’s refusing to knuckle under to Donald’s demand ('cause that’s pretty much what it was) to give the men’s team a pass was pretty gutsy. It’s hard, especially for women, to do the hard thing. Because they know they will be labeled a bitch for doing it, while a man in the same situation will be admired for his ‘tough mindedness.’

And her standing up for Busey – okay, maybe it was all sincere. OTOH, she gave Donald some coverage to keep Busey (which he clearly wanted to do) which resulted in getting Hatch fired. So she simultaneously got the men’s team cut down from six to five AND helped stick them with Busey at least another week AND got rid of a hard worker for the men.

Not bad playing, eh?

I loved when Richard said he was on his way to getting exonerated (he recently got thrown back into the slammer).

When the women huddled, I thought that they would say, “Don’t fire anybody. Let us pick one of the men for our team.” I’m pretty sure that Trump would have said yes. As it is, Matlin just ended up looking petty. If they were fighting for their own paychecks it would have been one thing. Taking away an opportunity to give to someone’s charity was just mean spirited.

Eh - not really. Most of the guys have had a chance to be PM (except…McGrath?). Everyone has to go at some point, and if you have a chance to make sure it’s not you or someone who is useful to you, why not?

She said it was because the women had lost three challenges in a row (and, incidentally, when the hell is Trump going to get rid of that juvenile “boys vs girls” thing he always does?), but the men were never offered the same kind of choice about letting the women skate, so I’m not sure if that was was really a fair argument. I don’t know that the men would have let them skate, but I think at least some of the male PM’s would have done it. I think Gary would have done it. For all his nuttiness, he’s shown a good heart and no pettiness at all.

Because it’s supposed to be for charity and the men had already lost someone. Matlin’s charity had just won a million dollars. That didn’t seem lime the right time to play the “Woe is us. We had to watch the men beat us three times in a row. Make one of them suffer” card.

At least one thing is obvious, Matlin is clearly one of Trump’s favorites. I don’t see anyway that she gets fired.

I did feel kind of bad for Richard. As mentioned earlier, the guy probably doesn’t have any rich friends. He was in prison for four years, during which what celebrity career he may have had was stalled. And he was an asshole on Survivor, so I can’t imagine any contestants who have money being inclined to help him out (and I highly doubt he’s close to Jeff Probst, Mark Burnett, or anyone else who would have the real money from the show).

And ultimately, he’s just some guy who won a reality show. I can see someone who had money to burn dropping 5k on a Meat Loaf or Gary Busey painting, as shitty as they may have been, for the kitsch value. But frankly I can’t see anyone boasting to their friends that have a Richard Hatch original hanging on their wall. He was lucky to get the grand that he did for each of his paintings.

Trump pointed that out after the teams left the boardrooms. He said something about Matlin making a great strategic move, which I agree with.

The problem the ladies face is that the only two left on the team who haven’t been PM are LaToya and Hope, who appear to completely useless. Busey has already somehow managed to win as PM.

Latoya hasn’t been completely useless. She came through in savant-like fashion on knowing all those details about the camper that time, and she donated that Michael Jackson shirt that raised 100 grand.

I can’t remember the porn chick doing anything at all.

I wonder if Latoya has more of her brother’s shit she can sell.

I’ve never understood the awarding of the funds raised by the losing team to the winning team’s charity. Doesn’t each team raise funds partly on the basis of how worthy its charity is?

It wouldn’t have made any difference to the outcome, but I think the 99k La Toya got for the T shirt should have been disallowed. They were supposed to be selling art they created. La Toya had no part in creating the T shirt – she just framed it.

I love Meatloaf, but he probably should have been fired for his childish outburst. Any time you can make Gary Busey come off as the more level-headed, mature person in a confrontation, you’re an idiot. Meat lost control and probably should have gotten canned for it. That said, wow…that was entertaining.

It wasn’t about making the men suffer, it was about evening up the numbers. I agree with those who say it was a sharp strategic move.

It’s supposed to be about charity, not strategy. She removed a charity from contention when she didn’t have to. Bitch move.

Ridiculous. The same amount will be raised for charities during the show, it will just (potentially) be distributed differently among the charities. And since the aim for each contestant is to raise money for THEIR OWN charity, having fewer contenders for the pot is a good thing.

You seem to be imagining there’s a goal of being ‘fair’ to each charity. If that were so, they’d have been dividing the pot evenly between all of the charities (yes, including those of the eliminated players) every week. Which isn’t how this game works.

Gary said later that he had taken anger management classes. It’s a good thing too. I thought Gary was going to lose it when he came back in the room and saw them giving his art stuff to Meat. They found that bag just in time. Otherwise it could have gotten really ugly.

Gary deserved a lot more credit for keeping his cool.

Meat Loaf was the one that said he’d taken anger management classes.
