OK, I admit it. I wussed. I met **MetalMouse **around 9:30 and we were out in the mostly rainy weather for a couple of hours, when we decided to go into the closest museum for a seat and a beverage. At that point, it was still more than 2 hours till the march, and I didn’t want to deal with the rain that long.
He and I sat and had a loverly chat, then parted company, and I headed back to the Metro. I’m home, in dry clothes, and still chilled. I wish our pellet stove hadn’t been cleaned already - I’d love to get a little dry heat going in here.
One thing about the day that really disappointed me, and obviously it was a misunderstanding on my part - I thought for sure there were supposed to be booths and/or displays about science-y stuff. But instead, there was a stage, a very loud band, and assorted speakers, some of whom didn’t know how to use the mic. There was a big crowd, despite the weather, and traffic was horrific - the Metro was definitely the right choice. A better choice would have been to arrive closer to march time. But I was there, even if I didn’t march.
I’ve had kittens weighing in at MAYBE a pound who managed to sound like galloping elephants. I firmly believe cats can selectively adjust their local gravity.
Well you tried Mooommm I don’t blame you for not wanting to be in the rain. We have had a fair amount of rain here today as well. Sinuses are acting up so I guess I need to take a pill.
Howdy Y’all! Hope all the marchers had funsies today. Today I filled twuck, had Charlie Joseph’s for N.O.L., ( That’s a facebook link so sorry non-facebookers.) did stuff for mom, sis and I made dindin and et and now we’re chillin’ cause mom is snoozin’. Oh and I did two loads of laundry. That does not sound like a lot but I’s tahrd!
sunny, iffen we’re gettin’ paid, I’m putting in for extra duty pay for the cold and rain.
doggio, Gordie’s bigger than he looks like in his pics. I want you to photograph me.
moooom, one of my last two cats, Figaro (aka Miss Figgy) peaked at 24 pounds. :eek:She had a lot of Persian in her ancestry, but still, she was a honkin big critter.
swampy, my mom used to make cherry delight. I hope MamaBear enjoys hers.
bumba, that’s pretty much the setup that I use. Have you tried using more dry ingredients?
I only stayed at the march in Nashville for a couple of hours. There were booths in Centenniel Park, but the rain was heavy and cold, so I too, wussed out after that. I swung through Tar-jay to pick up a prescription and Staples for TP (enought for swampy to be proud) and tissues and now I’m in for the day.
I got a couple things that surprised me; that I had totally forgotten existed. A couple hats and books Dad borrowed from me ages ago, a cigarette holder and ashtray thing he made for himself in China (or at least brought back from China) from a couple old shells, a couple things that trace back to my grandmother.
But mostly I got a lot of closure and happiness that I’m out of the mess with my mother and that whole ball of worms is off my plate. I may – just maybe – help my brother out if he calls for it. But then again, I’m at a certain level of peace where if I don’t want to, I won’t. In other words, the sense of obligation is gone. Visited Dad’s grave and Gramma’s on the way home and that helped as well.
Without benefit of alarm, I woke around 5. But that’s fine - I’ll be tired earlier so I can get up for reals tomorrow a 5. Altho, yeah, I’m up for reals. I’ve fed the dog and cleaned the critters’ water fountain - how’s that for early productivity?
We’re going to the early (cheapie) movie today - Going In Style. Showtime is 10, and I guess we’ll go get lunch after. Apart from that, no clue what the day holds. For now, caffeine.
Saw it yesterday afternoon, it was good.
Spoiler: They go…in style!
Iffn you get the big, refillable tub of popcorn you won’t need lunch. We skipped dinner & didn’t even refill the tub.
I’m currently choo’ing to NY. I forsee Junior’s later.
