Clinton: We made a person who committed sexual assault president

All those lady parts look the same.

1992 was a different time. It’s sad but true.

25 years ago awareness of the true spread and rot of sexual assault and male entitlement was not one tenth as great as it is today. Most people were in denial about it - some still are, but not as many - and the default position was “she’s just a bimbo” or “she’s making it up” or “boys will be boys.” I know 1992 seems recent, but when it comes to this sort of thing it was forever ago.

I was in university in 1992, and people saying “rape is very common and please pay attention to that” was a fairly cutting edge, political position to take. When women said “25% of women at university are sexually assaulted” people did not generally believe them. (Frankly, that number sounds a bit low to me.)

If Bill Clinton was 25 years younger and history was different and he ran for President in 2020 I would honestly hope the truth of his predatory behavior would keep him out of the White House; he’s disgusting. That Donald Trump was elected is a disgrace.

Depends on how you define sexual assault. Back than most people regarded sexual assault as akin to attempted rape, whereas nowadays unwelcome touching of any sort gets the label. Same with rape. Back then rape was considered to be forced intercourse, where now it applies to almost everything that sexual assault applies to. Both of these are examples of what happens when a word gets stretched into so many different meanings that no one knows what it actually means or what actually happened, thus they don’t know how to process it, nor how to assess its frequency or degree of offense. Of course there are those who claim it doesn’t matter, that any one offense of this kind is as bad as any other, but those people are wrong. Words should mean what they’re supposed to mean and not be contorted to the point they that lose any real meaning.

I know, it’s like, why bother even raping anymore, if you’re not going to get full credit?

Hedley Lamarr: Qualifications?
Applicant: Rape, murder, arson, and rape.
Hedley Lamarr: You said rape twice.
Applicant: I like rape.

Perhaps you have difficultly understanding what sexual assault and rape are. I do not, and those things are quite well defined in the Criminal Code of Canada, and are likely well defined in the jurisdiction in which you reside.

Perhaps you are in denial on this issue. Wouldn’t surprise me.

Certainly they’re defined in legal terminology. Where the distinction gets blurred is in the national dialog, and there it’s become ridiculously exaggerated.

But you’re right, I am in denial. An example would be my denial that actions which fall far short of rape are indeed rape. Why is nothing ever bad enough on its own? Why must things always be exaggerated to ridiculous lengths to make them look as bad as they possibly can?

Wouldn’t surprise me if you know exactly why.

You know who else ridiculously exaggerated things?

Tommy Flanagan?

We have several new Dopers, so it may be good to call their attention to what sort of “thinker” Starving Artist is. Here are a few samples that showed up with a quick Search. In fact he’s made hundreds of posts worse than any of these. Is he the one who’s expounded on the topic of paper tubes? [I’ve highlighted some of his phrases in the following posts.]

The “fact” he is from Kenya? I thought even Starving was smart enough to know Obama was born in Hawaii; perhaps this was just a Freudian slip. OTOH the post was made when his idol Drumpf was still pandering the Kenya story.

Not too bright, our little Starving Artist. We keep him around for laughs.

Perhaps the aforementioned newbies understand that quoting out of context is a scoundrel’s ploy.

Once I saw convincing evidence that Obama was born in Hawaii, I both readily accepted it and said so here on the board.

The comments about Michelle Obama and administration efforts to dress her in ways that downplayed her derriere were both sympathetic to her as well as other black women, and were made in response to one of the board’s black women who’d made a comment about it to me in a friendly and conversational way.

Etc., etc., etc.

Hopefully these newbies whom you’re so concerned might take my comments seriously (and it’s not hard to tell when this has become a concern; horseshit like you just posted often follows) will come to recognize you as the dishonest, unthinking, reflexive and excruciatingly partisan crackpot that you are.

Newbies should know they can click the blue arrow immediately after “Originally Posted by Starving Artist” and see your whinings in context.

They will also find that you described Obama’s Kenyan status as a “fact” in October 2012 — four years after he released his Certificate of Live Birth; fifty-one years after his birth was mentioned in Honolulu newspapers; and more than 20,000 years after the last non-sapiens hominid supposedly went extinct.

I’m afraid I’m not interested in searching to learn when you “saw convincing evidence that Obama was born in Hawaii” — I suppose that means when your idol Trumpfuck finally belched out an admission.

I voted for the Clinton machine but she’s beginning to remind me of how I felt about Alex Rodriguez in his final years. Please, just go away. Admit you’re done and retire.

Too late. They’ve been missing for some time now. Search was called off.

OK
[though with a web cam and a quick finger down the throat we can get confirmation of what you had for lunch … blech =) At the time I had definite injuries and a rape kit done in a local hospital, so it really was particularly tasteless asking me if I were certain I would like to report a rape. Since I had a hunk o’rapist to help confirm that some guy was in fact the correct guy, I saw no reason I should be treated like I was lying, and trying to pin it on some random guy.]

Still got raped, just didn’t ‘go quietly’ and I really don’t care what some random asshole on the internet thinks, I know what happened, and while it has impacted how I do things [I am more careful with personal security] it didn’t stop me from developing relationships [both good and bad, can’t screen for bad sometimes, they get really good at hiding their problems] and hasn’t stopped me from volunteering at womens shelters or being willing to discuss it with people.

Do you want to tell them about his … *interesting *views of sexual assault with regards to the Penn State scandal, or let them find out on their own?

and now we know the rest of the story, thx for the heads up from all us noobs!

If you’re listening to septimus you don’t know much. Take for example the way he’s gone out of his way here to make me look like a huge Trump supporter by taking things I said earlier on but omitting the fact that I eventually became convinced that I was wrong about Trump and didn’t vote for him, as he should well know since I’ve had occasion to say so a dozen times or more since the election. septimus is up there with ElvisL1ves for being one of the most stupid and dishonest liberal posters on the board.

All anyone has to do is to quote you, yanno.

Sure, and I have no problem with that…as long as it’s done honestly and in context.

Which of course leaves you two out of consideration.
