Commercials you don't hate

I love that Duos commercial! Too funny!

There is the Wet Wipes commercial. Couple hiking, with the baby in a sling. Ah nature. And the child smiles.

My wife and I both like this commercial for Britbox.

One I’ve been seeing lately starts off looking like a movie trailer for some sort of chick flick, with the tagline “Sometimes what you really need is More Dog.”

Yeah, I think we can all relate with that.

Turns out it’s an ad for Milk-Bones.

I don’t mind this commercial for the Farmer’s Dog (fancy dog food brand) because it opens on a closeup of a dog’s nose, there to wake up its owner in the morning.

It is cute. But having worked on a farm a couple of summers, the dogs were not fed anything like that, mostly table scraps and bits from butchering, etc. Some cheap dry dog food in case there wasnt anything else.

Did you think I was under the impression that the brand name was meant to be taken literally? Next you’re going to tell me that my oatmeal isn’t made by members of the Society of Friends.

Redfin sometimes has cute commercials. The ones with Goldilocks and the three bears is pretty good. Lately I’ve been seeing the one with a couple and the man keeps pronouncing it “rentfin”.
It’s not hilarious, but it is funny because it’s so relatable. The actress portrays exasperation really well.
Sorry there’s no link. Sometimes it works for me, other times, like now, not so much..

No, I am sure you knew better. But that is the name they are pushing their products under.

There’s a cat food series of commercials that are mostly pretty cute. The one I liked the best was when a limo stops in traffic, and a woman walking by notices her cat – blinged out – sitting in the car. The pure disdain with which the cat looks at his owner, then looks away as the limo starts moving again and the window rolls up is perfect.

I like that one too. “Do you know these people?”

That does seem like an odd choice of a brand name. “Yuppie’s Dog” seems like a pet that’d get premium, expensive food. The mutt living on a farm would be lucky to get let indoors.

The target audience is clearly people who’ve never gotten closer to a farm than the apple ‘n’ punkin stand out by the road.

Ironically, the farm dog is probably healthier on a diet of scraps of beef, chicken and veggies (and a helluva lot more running around) than “Percival the CockaDoodle”.

No one would buy “Yuppie’s Dog,” except maybe as a joke. They’re not trying to sell Farmer’s Dog to people who know about farms or farm dogs. They’re selling it to people who have a romantic vision of rural life.

Advertising is rarely an appeal to logic. It’s a way to get people to buy what you’re selling, regardless of whether the ads make sense. Most of it is image creation.

And catching the look on the woman’s face sitting next to the cat as the window rolls up kills me every time! I love that commercial, too.

In most cases you are correct.

Link, or brand name, please. Sounds hilarious.

This one:

And I now learn that @peccavi posted the same one back in August of 2023. Still hilarious!

Temptations Cat Treats. … it’s the cat side eye and the assistant’s eye roll - honestly, the price of fame, accosted by the public everywhere!

That is a great ad.

I like this one, too, from Fiat in 2013: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uq3OnVkgtdc

I did not see that coming!
