As a controlled experiment I used the SDMB Search facility to find Der Trihs’ 100th most recent post, 200th, 300th, 400th and 500th. Here they are:
Pretty much what I was going to say; human evolution looks somewhat directional due to hominid species largely being failures. If one looks at a more successful family of species like felines or canines, you see an evolutionary bush, with many branches leading to many species; not a ladder leading to a single species at the top of it.
That’s a silly comparison. Science is based on evidence and reason, not faith and irrationality like religion; science and religion are opposites. Nor does science have any “sacrosanct theories”; on the contrary, there’s nothing any ambitious scientist would like more than to tear down some well known or important theory - it would make his or her name in scientific history.
Which is normal for religions; Christianity stole a great deal from other religions as well.
All the other things that propel warriors, I expect.
No; they are strongly influenced by outside forces. And religion is a powerful force for corruption, both moral and intellectual.
It’s an acknowledgement of history. Christianity got to its present position through bloodshed, terror and destruction. All of its benevolent claims have throughout history overwhelmingly been empty rhetoric.
The anti-religious screed is one-sided, but by and large these posts seem intelligent and non-hijacking. Do those defending cornopean ’s posts as no stupider than Der Trihs’ have the stomach to do this experiment on him?
The final DT quote was from a GD threat titled “IOKIADDI (It’s OK If A Democrat Does It)? ” I noted that I posted almost immediately after DT in that thread. If you must concatenate a non-rightwinger to this thread, let it be me:
I give the liberal media at least a little credit – they were pretty unanimous in condemning Clinton for his rape of that pre-teen Monica. But, despite the hundreds of millions spent bringing him to justice, the liberals in Congress didn’t even convict. Wouldn’t you know? Worried about their own Wieners I’ll bet.
And then – wouldn’t you know? – some liberals had the audacity to chastise GWB for his humanitarian efforts. The Iraq War cost less than a million lives and less than 2 trillion dollars, but you’d think it was as big a deal as the semen-stained dress to hear some extremists prattle. Fortunately cooler heads prevailed.
