Four hours of awesome. Way better than Justice League. Everyone catch the Superman 2 reference? “General. Would you care to step outside?”

Maybe in Earth-1’s universe Krypton didn’t explode and Kara and Kal are just ordinary citizens of same.
Or it exploded before Jor-El noticed it was going to. Or Jor-El and Zor-El aimed for Thanagar. Or Zor-El died of Hypermeasels when he was 2 and Harry’s wrong about every universe necessarily having a Kara…
More thoughts in part 2:
I don’t think the red sun lamp was hurting Kara. The point of it was to take away her invulnerability so that Thawne/Wells could operate on her and Kara X. Thawne also had given her an injection (a sedative?) that would account for her weakened state.
You mean the guy who handed Oliver an empty gun? Yeah, he shows up a lot on ARROW; that’s probably why they put in that quick-but-clunky exposition-hint for crossover viewers who wouldn’t know who the guy is, where he sizes up Sara and explains that she’s much like his own Attracted-To-Chicks daughter.
Because, of course, that’s the point: the Earth-1 version is Earth-1 Sara’s dad.
Quentin Lance, Ollie’s deputy mayor on Arrow. And who is currently being mind-fucked by his late daughter Laurel’s doppelganger.
Anyone notice a Bugs Bunny short playing while they were on Earth-X in the Rebel HQ? I think it was one of the ones where Bugs takes on the Nazis but too short of a glimpse.
Fun and exciting tv-movie, Grey’s death actually got me. I really thought he was going to get to go babysit his grandchild. That was a fairly unexpected.
Is the Light Ray guy someone that showed up on Archer or just someone from the DC Comics?
I have to ignore the dozens of silly things that happen each episode, but Barry letting Eobard go free was too much. No kill? OK, sure, damn where was Ollie, Catie or Rory when you needed them. But Barry should have at least locked him up right?
Sonovabitch. Like everyone else, I was hoping Stein would be able to retire in peace and enjoy living with his wife and daughter and grandson. His death and funeral was the most touching moment of the entire Arrowverse. Franz Drameh and Victor Garber, acting together for the last time, really sold the moment. Caity Lotz, kissing Martin’s forehead, really sold the moment. All the Legends mourning really sold the moment.
This crossover has shown us that Sara Lance is the most badass character of the Arrowverse. [ul]
[li]She had a fling with a federal agent from another dimension.[/li][li]When captured by Eobard Thawne, she kept her mouth shut about her role in his demise.*[/li][li]Did NOT freak out when confronted with her father’s Nazi doppelganger.[/li][li]Kicked Nazi ass first. Mourned later.[/li][/ul]
The final battle against the Nazi invaders from Earth-X was something else. Spaceships battling over Central City. Cisco flying the Waverider. Amaya and Zari hitching a ride with Killer Frost. They really pulled out all the stops. Although Overgirl exploding with the power of a supernova was something of an exaggeration. A supernova would take out not just the city but the entire solar system. The explosion above the planet was really well done though. Something I’d expect from a much more expensive, big screen production.
And then there was Felicity, taking a dump all over Iris and Barry’s cute moment. Because she has to make it all about her. Worst wedding guest ever.
*I think the Wellsobard we saw is earlier in his personal timeline than the Reverse Flash from last season’s Legends. He didn’t recognize Sara nor Firestorm, being utterly focused on Barry. Sara was smart enough not tell him about how she destroyed him, the better not to contaminate his timeline. She’s learned from experience after telling Damien Darhk what would happen to him.
My favorite moment: The Atom “catching” the scalpel. By the way, I think this is another example of the villain talking too much. If he hadn’t been spending so much time talking sadistically to Kara, maybe the Atom wouldn’t have reached her in time.
Ah yes, the monologue. Didn’t they teach him about that in villainy school?
Or maybe they landed on Apokolips and it’s just a matter of time before they come to Earth!?!?!
I liked the second half but a little less than the first. Nothing topped the Wedding fight but the whole thing was great.
The Stein scene was very sad but they live in a time machine. If they want the character back it’s pretty easy to get him back.
Flash just letting Thrawne go was kind of dumb
It’s unlikely Felicity would be alive in this timeline (her ancestors would have almost certainly been murdered) but it’s a conceit of these kind of stories so it’s okay.
I wonder how this will be handled for streaming/home video purposes. So much is mix and matched it feels like all four series will need to contain all four episodes of this. Hell two pairs of main characters got married on a show that was neither one of theirs.
I also did note the “Would you care to step outside” line. It was fun. I also forgot to mention I liked the line in the beginning of part one where Supergirl says the Dominators are “so last year”.
The red light was also effecting Nazi Kara. They both needed to be depowered so they could do the surgery but Good Kara was drugged.
Interesting that Thawn mentioned fighting Superman in the future… I wonder if Krypton wasn’t just lagging a few years behind Earth when it came to matching the rest of the multiverse.
I suspect ‘he’s still a part of you’ may be proved to be literal later in the season…still frees Garber for his stage work (justifies not having him around until the reveal, and limits his need to come in after), but softens his bad ending. At the very least enough of him hanging around to let Jax still go Firestorm would be nice.
Disappointed that Leo stayed but Ray went back to Earth X…Leo’s cool and all, but Ray is awesome.
Ollie and Kara doing a fistbump instead of hugging like everyone else gave me a giggle.
I really enjoyed it (hell, it even made me think about watching Arrow again- the only CW DC show I stopped watching), but I thought that they really missed a nice character interaction moment- they could have had The Ray power Supergirl back up after the attempted surgery.
I thought that the crossover was perfection… until Felicity (who is, otherwise, one of my Top 3 favorite Arrowverse characters) went all 53% in the middle of Iris and Barry’s wedding.
Regarding Eobard: As a result of traveling through time so much, doesn’t he leave remnants of himself in practically every timeline? He mentioned fighting Superman in the future, he fights Barry Allen in the future. We even saw the Black Flash claim him a few months ago. Also, the Legends broke time. Damien Dahrk showed up in Victorian England after (before? Damn tenses.) his presumed death at the hands of Green Arrow. Barry could have caught him, but he’d just pop up again.
Also, I kept waiting for Mick to say, “Whaddya know, the skirt can sing.”
In the original comics back in the early '60s, it was based on order of discovery. All later retcons aside, Barry was the first person to travel across the multiverse from Earth 1 to Earth 2 and so on.
It was also the case that Earths that had a Superman (or Superman analog) were numbered, Earths that had characters from companies that DC had purchased had letters (Earth X was the Quality Comics characters, Earth S was the Fawcett characters, etc)
That’s what I thought was going to happen. I wonder if that was in an early draft of the script.
Shame either Kara or Alex didn’t get a chance to punch Eobard. (Alex would’ve hit harder.) Also, I suspect they would’ve said, “Look, if you want to let this creep go, we’ll take him to Earth-38 and imprison him at the DEO.” On second thought, he’d just escape and cause trouble there.
Good to have Snart back, but I’m getting the impression Leo’s not a crook. That may be an issue if they ever need to steal something.
Loved the Mick/Captain Singh seating at the wedding.
If Iris had told the dance recital story at the wedding, I suspect at least some of the Legends would’ve wanted to see that.
Extended monologuing is a requirement for any degree from The School of Super-Villainy. Failure to monologue after graduating will forfeit your union card, and the villain will not get any union help with legal costs and could potentially lost his or her or its medical insurance.
