This is a public service announcement: Go thru your stuff and get rid of as much as you can. Seriously! Especially if it’s in boxes that you haven’t unpacked since you moved. Find someone who wants it or donate it, but get rid of it. Otherwise you keep accumulating stuff and one day, you’ll be overwhelmed by all the stuff… or your heirs will.
@carnivorousplant: Mostly a joke, but ISTM if you want a deli sandwich, go to a deli sandwich place. Not to a 2nd or 3rd tier fast food joint famous for mediocrity. I thought FCM lived urban/suburban enough that a real sandwich joint wouldn’t be too hard to find. YMMV.
Congrats on all the hard work, Mom. And on the massive sigh of relief you’ll feel when it’s more done.
But if you keep this up you’ll guilt me into starting something similar. So quiet until you’re done, OK?
Burgers and fries were ingested followed by nappage. Still kind of foggy out. So much for a N.O.S. afternoon. :dubious: I have managed to wash and dry a load of undies. I should do more laundry but probably won’t just because I don’t have to do laundry if’n I don’t want to do laundry.
Their Ruben is nice, and they recently began a beef & cheddar where they actually put enough roast beef on the sandwich. Fast food is still fast food, though.
Thanksgiving dinner was good. I ate too much as usual. A nap is in order now to sleep off the turkey. After nap I need to start thinking about getting ready for a new workweek. Oh joy.
Look up St. Mary’s County, MD - more rural than suburban, a heavily Amish county. Honestly, I can’t think of a real deli around here. On the other hand, in the growing season, we get great fresh produce from the aforementioned Amish farmers.
If it makes you feel any better, I’ve quit for the day. OK, I’ll probably empty the dishwasher, but I’m done with the baby’s room. For now.
Sounds like I’m guilty of under-informed prejudice. So it’s off to Arby’s for me in the next few days. I admit it’s been decades since I set foot inside one.
Back when I lived in St. Louis we had a vastly superior local chain: Lion’s Choice. So not much need to visit Arby’s. Down here I’m still looking for a good cheap-n-cheerful roast beef joint.
Arby’s? Arby’s??Arbys??? Dear Og, man? Have you lost it? Errr, ummm, did you ever have it?
I like Arby’s; their food is good & the speed & price make it very good value; better than the other fast food chains. But a Reuben from there? That’s like traveling to a steakhouse in TX or KS & then ordering the Maine lobster. There are certain things that Just. Are. Not. Done!
Arby’s is known for their roast beef. Reubens are not made with roast beef.
When I want a proper reuben sammich I go to Rose’s Deli.
However Subway has a decent reuben available right now, for a limited time.
Wifey and I shared one at the Holiday Bazaar yesterday.
okay, it’s decent if you like lots of pickles in your 1000 island dressing. I do.
We survived the bazaar and took in over $400. Not as good as last year, but okay for a weekend. I was seriously considering going again next weekend, but it looks like that’s out. Wifey is getting a new store-bought knee installed thursday and I’ll likely have to stay home and wait on her. Daughter was gonna, but she threw her back out and was in urgent care last night. THe second week is usually a bust anyway, and I’m tired of the soap business. Heh. It’s more of a hobby now anyway.
I used to like going to Arby’s when they had their ‘5 for 5’ special. I could just go down there and get 5 roast beefs and take them back to the office. I could alway count on selling the extras in about 10 minutes.
I did go ahead and do another load of laundry plus I hauled the biiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Thus I have been productive. We supped upon grilled cheese sammiches and mater soup because it was what our inner seven year olds wanted. OK, it was also good.
When I thought we had a break my aunts chosen one grandchild had to come back because drunk moms friend has a fight and ended up in some bar and she didn’t know where she was so she had to go get her and it became an excuse for her getting drunk too so no decorating was done …
Now aunts gonna come back from grocery shopping with a “drop everything were gonna rush” attitude …
Ouch nightshadea! How can we send some relaxation into your double-stress-burger?
Well … sunset and full moonrise was very pretty tonight. There was an excellent crowd down at the beach to see it. Often there’s a bunch of cumulus clouds all along the horizon and the Moon doesn’t break free until it’s a hand-span or three above the horizon. Not tonight.
Right on time it rose bright orange from the sea and by the time it had fully cleared the ocean the top was just getting into some distant shallow layered clouds, so the moon had first one dark stripe then two. The Sun had set ~30 minutes before so we had shimmery orange light running all across the sea from the shore out to meet the Moon.
Very dramatic and picturesque. And yes, many people were taking flash pictures of it. Makes me smile. And shake my head. Mostly shake my head.
Wife is musicalizing at church now. When she calls I’ll throw some leftover T-Day turkey, stuffing, and gravy in the oven to reheat. They’ve all been in the freezer since the day; freshly defrosted we’ll have another 3-4 days worth of easy leftover meals. Maybe a nice (cheap) chardonnay, maybe not.
The weekly bulky laundry is almost done. Sheets & towels and such. And thus another day goes into the ledger.
Moooom, I figured out that I had accumulated wayyyyyyy too much stuff that I didn’t use this last move. I’m being more viginant now.
The tea party at SIL’s was fun. Nelson went with me and played with her middle aged chihuahua and my nieces 5 month old pup. I got to see my niece, great niece, nephew and a couple of family friends there too. Now it’s time to fold the towels that I washed/dried yesterday.
