Thanks Chef! I don’t mind driving, it’s just I rarely go south of Plano unless I’m driving through Dallas to get to Austin. I’m really good with maps and directions though. beatle gave me directions to the restaurant in Houston where we met and I didn’t get lost. I appreciate the offer though.

However, the more that I think of it, the more I think it wouldbe more believable if I said we were leaving together because you were giving me a ride. No one would suspect a thing.

What a great day to have my internet connection down all day. It reconnected a 5 till 5, like “it’s time to go home, I guess we should turn this thing back on now.”

Anyhow, Goldfingers on the 12th is good with me. That’s at California Crossing right? Webb’s Chapel & NW Highway?

Going down to the WestEnd afterwards is OK with me too.

psiekier, where is Razzoo’s? I see about 6 listed and none in the middle between Dallas & Ft. Worth. I suppose I can find somethig to eat in a Cajun Cafe. That is the right Razzoo’s, right?

of course, this is completely irrelevant to the rest of the thread, but that’s okay - I figured since [most of] you guys live in DFW, you’d find it mildly entertaining or interesting.
I was in Dallas this evening (I live in Bedford). I was driving home, nice traffic etc. it being 10:30 at night. Suddenly, all the cars stopped! It was too late to go out the previous exit, so i settled down to see what’d happen.
I was only about a mile an’ a half away from home - the next exit was mine. But it took me FORTY minutes to get home! they blocked off the entire fucking highway! Finally, as I drove past later, I saw a car out in the middle of the grassy area next to the highway, and a very very very smashed car on its side.
I wonder if it’ll be in the news tomorrow.
Anyway, that’s my interesting story of the evening.

Zoing, at least you had the pleasure of seeing WHY you were stuck in traffic so late. What I hate is when you suffer through a traffic jam and when you get to the end of it, there’s… nothing. “Dammit, I’m now 45 minutes late - I want to see some BODIES!!!”

Well, I just found out that the exhibit that I wanted to show my fellow dopers is no longer around. :frowning: I thought y’all would appreciate it since it started with a diorama of cavemen doing trepanning. (I’m so bad) So dinner & drinks in the mid-cities is fine by me.

Aug 19th: Dinner and drinks in the Mid-cities. Razzoos doesn’t sound like a good choice - Conversation is the diving force behind these get-togethers. (BTW, JimB, the Razzoos is where 121 & 183 split) There’s a new restaurant, Carabbas in Grapevine that I’ve eaten at in Houston - very good there, I’m going to check it out tonight. Or we have several restaurants in the area where Razzoos is & at 183 & Beltline. Comments?

Aug 26th: Sounds like some of y’all are going to the ballgame. :stuck_out_tongue: Anyone want to go to Hawkwood with me?

Oh, and I’m in mourning now. I remember when that exhibit was put in and it gave me my introduction to and interest in medicine and psychology. Not to mention telling me what trepanning was. Another part of my childhood gone…

Doesn’t sound like anyone but Grace and I are interested in a ballgame. I’ll be glad to take her to a game, but it doesn’t seem like it’s going to be an SDMB outing. Your 12th & 19th arrangements seem fine with me.

Unless others want to go to a ballgame, Hawkwood sounds like fun on the 26th. It closes at 6 PM, so we can come back into Grapevine and join the biker dudes and cowboys at Wilhoite’s. They won’t mind what we look like after walking around all afternoon in 100[sup]o[/sup] heat.

Something (dinner, drinks) on the 19th probably in the midcities (Bedford, Irving, Grapevine).
Something outdoors on the 26th (Hawkwood, Rangers game).

It looks like 10 to 15 for the 12th. We probably should confirm that since we probably need to do something special for that many people.

Also, since we have a good size group for the 12th, maybe some for Austin or Oklahoma might want to join. Does anyone have any contact with people close enough to come in for the weekend? I can provide a landing spot for people coming in from the north. Isn’t aha from OKC?

Zyada, not trying to take over the organizing, that’s your job. Just setting around watching the sprinkler go around and thought I’d put this in some kind of order.

Still no word from Hootee. I think she may be in Puerto Vallarta right now. I knew she was going but can’t remember the exact date. Even if she doesn’t come, I’ll still be there. Unless something major comes up, I can attend all three dates.

Aha lives in Oklahoma but I don’t think he lives in Oklahoma City. I invited beatle and Irishman (hopefully beatle will relay the message). Beatle said he’d think about it. I told him we could probably find him lodging to save money since so many of you are going to Vegas. I know I have a spare bedroom if anyone needs a room to crash.

I emailed aha, asking him to come down. I have spare couches and I can get rid of the kid for the weekend. He’s almost 20, I’m sure he has someone he’d love to spend the night with.
