Me, too. Being a masochist of the terminal degree I’ll be watching (if my free ESPN iPad app works) the Nebraska-Michigan game at 2:30. Michigan is like 3rd in the nation and we’re….um…..not even in the running, so it will be a massacre. I’ll consider it a success if we lose by less than 50 points.
I think so too! I’m giving you all credit. Mumpers are da best!
That does look like some good ideas. I love dump and run recipes that give you lots to freeze for later. Cook once and eat 4 times sounds good to me.
I’m also going to cruise my library’s cookbook offerings for crockpot specific cookbooks and bring a couple home for serious perusal.
I’m with FCD. I love gingerbread too. I first made it in home ec in high school and have been a devotee ever since. Slap some real whipped cream on top and you’ve got yourself a perfect dessert for a chilly fall day and the house will be redolent of fragrant legacy spices.
I’ve been known to use dark Karo syrup to round out the molasses measure but then I grew up in the town where Karo syrup was made and the whole town smelled of it anyway.
I do. I like “woo-hoo” too. I think Green Bay Packers fans resurrected “woot” here in my neck of the woods. I hear it everywhere.
Sounds like my 2014 Civic which has 60,000+ on it. Got it used almost 5 years ago. She got named “Sweetie” by my tire shop guys when I stopped there to have her tires checked after I bought her. They backed her out of the garage bay, handed me the keys and announced that she was a ‘sweet’ car. And she has been. Reliable, far from flashy, but I like reliable more than flashy anyway. Kinda like me-far more reliable than I am flashy. Serviceable is my middle name.
If I saw you coming I’d rush to open the door and welcome you in. Don’t mind the cat hair on the couch.
I’ll try to take a picture of our new house soon. I spend more time in the backyard snapping pictures of the mountain, and birds, and sunsets. I’m really enjoying the green space behind us.
Okay, got it to irk. Of course, the whole house isn’t mine, and the crepe myrtle in the front is up higher than the porch roof now, and all of the bushes have filled out. This is the pic from the real estate site. We don’t leave the trash cans in view either.
The center of the attic window is what fell out a while back, or fell in I guess.
If I stay here, I think I want to paint the house white or cream with blue shutters, but who knows? I want to move. Now waiting for the estate to be settled before making a decision.
I used to name my trucks, but I haven’t named the last few. They were all named Tommy anyway.
Congrats on paying off Carmen, Doggio.
There is room in my freezer for chicken cacciatore
I’ve ordered groceries, and we have to pick them up at 3.
I missed PT yesterday. I wasn’t feeling that well when I woke up, but after I took a shower, I felt really bad, so I cancelled. Unfortunately, I called the wrong number and cancelled at the wrong place. They were nice enough to call me back and let me know.
We’re home again. We delivered a large container of gingerbread to the in-laws, but they weren’t home, so we left it on the table. It’s a gorgeous day here and they’re out and about. Then we ran to the marina and checked the boat. FCD fired up the engine - started right away! But the generator won’t start, so he’ll call their yard manager on Moanday and arrange to have someone repair it. We’re going to take a day and go there to put the boat back in order - there’s random stuff all over the place. Plus we need to winterize it - like drain the water tanks and such.
I just had a bowl of soup for lunch and now I’m noshing on some chips. Shortly, I’ll pull out the vacuum cleaner and de-fur the carpets. Then I’ll just wait till Tobias gets here. Hard to believe it’s 74°!!
So Irritable Blueberry irritated Irritable Sloth Lady, words were shouted, there was face to face confrontations. There was umbrage. Y’all take this across the street to he violent bar, and let me heave in peace.
We’re both therapists, so we disguise rather than post our house, but I’ll see if I have a garden photo handy. I enjoy seeing yours!
Not very hungry, blood sugar seems stable, mild side effects. It would be wonderful if this Rx works.
Three more weeks in the term with 14 group grades, 39 more complex individual grades, and a few hundred easy individual grades to go. No one can say that there’s no basis for their course grade.
Yeah, you are. Even though it is an away game for us, every if you’re customer food place here will be slammed too. My roomie works the drive-through and counter at a local fast food place (Runza) and she hates working game days because it is merciless morning to closing. At least Nebraska are known for being polite, almost to a fault, but it’s endlessly busy for the whole day.
Do me a favor if you’re customer facing today: greet a couple of Michigan fans with “Go Big Red !”~we’ll need all the help we can get. Tell them it’s for a friend.
My youngest son (a U of Ne grad) is working on campus of the University of Michigan. He lays low on game days because it’s so ferocious.
As a native Nebraskan Husker football in ingrained in our DNA. Michigan is rated #3. Nebraska is rated #97. They are in for a humiliating defeat. Five years ago the fans would accept no one but Scott Frost, who was the star quarterback for the 1996-1998 Huskers. He was fired mid season this year after a dismal 17/35 record.
Our team has been very poorly coached for the last 4 1/2 seasons. At this point I don’t think they could outplay Michigan’s marching band.
Rough chop the pepper and onion, drain the corn and dump all of this into your slow cooker with a pound or so of boneless chicken thighs and cook it on low for eight hours or so.
We might be able to pull out a tie. Just maybe, if we avoid careless turnovers and stupid penalties. (I’m talking about playing against the Michigan band~even then our defense would probably never get off the field). Our offense transferred to other schools last year and is of course killing it there. Texas, you can thank us by sending boxcars full of good tequila.
Hey! I just put on a Mumper crockpot of ham and 15 bean soup-it should be done in about 6 hours, so a late supper. I had Siri set an alarm for then. I had most of the ingredients and cobbled together the rest from what I did have-always the basis of a good soup. Had a pound of deli ham that had been frozen and needed using. Extra carrots went in, they needed using too. I’mma gonna have lots of good winter suppers, the crockpot is full!
Thanks for the recipes~you guys are amazing. And inspiring.I could go on and on, but later.
The year I lived there, up by Big Rapids, all the young men wanted to talk about was sex (usually with someone else’s wife) or hunting. I’m not sure what’s wrong with the women.
I dunno, but she was a vindictive narcissist, so best not to take that chance.
That was an impressive tree, Hippie. Too bad you had to cut it down.
I’ve had some memorable cars and trucks over the years, some of which I loved and wish I had back, but I only ever (sorta) named one of them, my "53 Chevy half ton pickup, who was referred to as ‘truckus’. It’d cost me an arm and a leg to replace it now. The cheapest I’ve seen one in the last few years was ~$14,000.
There’s a 74 VW ‘Thing’ on facebook marketplace right now for $12,500. I had one just like it except with a roll cage 40+ years ago that I paid $1750 for. I know things are different now, but damn!
Have fun with your new pot Boo. No I’m not the one who sent it to you either. Soup of any kind is one of my favorite things, but Wifey only lets me make it in the winter.
What gorgeous scenery! I’ d spend a lot of time gazing at that too. I live on an average Midwestern city street~sadly I lost my two trees in front to the elm borer. My house is a little blue and gray one story much like vango’s or about the size of JtC’s or hippy’s.
Edited to correct: Kansas State owes us. I guess we’ll have to settle for wheat or sunflower seeds.I will resist disparaging Kansas, even if tequila won’t be forthcoming.
@JaneDoe42, how are you holding up in MAGA ville? I enjoyed the sheriff’s and Gates’s chastizing of people not acting like adults that I just saw on MSNBC.
