Did you all change all of your clocks in the MMP?

I’m drinking heavily.

Actually, we are safe where we are, most of the violence is happening in Phoenix and Tucson. I haven’t heard of anything in Prescott, but I’m also limiting my daily news and social media consumption.

VBC is enjoying it, she’s getting lots and LOTS of brushings.

Yesterday I made walnut and date bars and today I’m trying a new cheddar recipe. Distraction is a good thing.

I enjoyed the sheriff too, I hope folks listen.

Oops, spoke too soon, SWAT is here due to an active shooter situation. We’ve already gotten the mail and have lots of booze. Looks like a good day to just stay inside and play with milk and string.

Ah, the Bluto Blutarsky option… Seriously, stay safe.

Watched some English league soccer this afternoon but couldn’t really get into any of the college games, so just slothing the afternoon away. Did take yanker’s suggestion and put my outdoor hoses and portable hose reels in the garage, but one of them is in pretty poor shape and I may put it out to the curb and get a new one for the spring. Dinner will probably be a big bowl O’Sallit, as going out doesn’t appeal to me today. So sloth it will be.

Lovely homes all, apologize for not posting my exact house, but it’s not just MMP’ers who might see that information. And the Zillow price for my house is…improbable (wish I could get that much).

On the other great question of the week, I’ve never named my cars, occasionally I’ll call it “Where did I park the damn thing”, but I don;t think that qualifies. I remember when I was a kid my Dad called the car (whatever one we had at the time) ‘Nellybell’, but that’s the only one I remember.

Well. Nebraska is losing 17-3 but hardly being embarrassed…yet…

OK, onward with the sloth day. Will have to go to the gym to make it up tomorrow…

I agree. I often have a bad couple of allergy days from that most autumns. Kansas got the better deal.

I can live with it. Not in humiliation range yet.

Howdy Y’all! I actually did venture out not only to the high falutin’ DG, but also to the burly butcher sto’ where I bought a head of cabbage. I had a sudden gnawin’ and a cravin’ for a chili/cheese/onion/slawdawg, so that became sup. Fartfest now ensues. Here’s a weird thing. Accordin’ to google maps and Zillow, I live on a billboard on the main drag out from my road. Seriously. That’s what both show as my location. I do not, however, live on a billboard. Billboards do not have indoor plumbin’ or room for a cee-mint pond, both of which we have.

MOOOOOOM I bet the makers of Country Crock and Cool Whip never imagined they also were makin’ tupperware containers.

Yanker devildog is a cutie pie!

I have enjoyed seein’ everyone’s digs. Maybe one day I can share an actual pic of our place, which is not a billboard.

34-3, Michigan prevailed. Our offensive coordinator got taken out on the sidelines. He was gone for the second half. It’s too late in the season for him to redshirt for the year.

Not nearly as bad as I feared. Well, except for losing our offensive coordinator to injury.

Maryland vs. Penn State, however, was a humiliating game. On to the Ducks vs. Hucking Fuskies.

Mooooom, molasses is something that I usually pick up at the farmer’s market when I go. The jam-jelly-honey guy has some good locally produced molasses at a reasonable price.

metal mouse, Nellybelle reminded me of coming home from kindergarten every day and watching Roy, Dale, Pat, Trigger, Buttermilk and Nellybelle while I ate lunch.

It’s bloody cold outside. Cold enough to trigger the low tire warning on the car, so I swung through Discount Tire while in the 'Boro. Given that it was so chilly (38F), I did slip the air guy a tip (some stores allow tipping, others don’t).

Now, I’m chilling and watching YT with a little reddish dog in my lap. Soon, I’ll start messing around in the studio.

Went to the gym and plodded on the treadmill. It feels weird to go so slowly, but if I speed up, I hurt. I need to shower, but I have thr prickly itchies, and even duck showers (duck in, duck out) exacerbate it.

That reminds me of this snippet from one of my favorite Leave It to Beaver episodes.

And Chiffon margarine before them. Mom kept her loose change in one and usually had hot peppers in another in the fridge. When my aunt came over and we played Tripoly (a sort of gambling game…we used pennies), she’d surreptitiously swap the pepper container for the penny container. This was cause for much mirth between the two of them. Of course, all the vino didn’t hurt.

I love it! My mom’s cars were always “Susie.”

This is what’s holding me back, too. I love the photos, though. Now I can visualize where everyone is when they post.

JtC, holy smokes! Stay away from the windows, and good luck!

Thanks, all has calmed down now it seems. Many rumors are flying around but all I know for sure is that someone was shot and was flown to Phx with life threatening injuries.

Up until a couple of years ago, the most exciting thing that ever happened was someone hitting the stop sign. I want to go back to those days.

My cheddar is in the press now. I hate this part, I shouldn’t release the press, but I want to poke at it and see if I’ve finally got it figured out. It looked and acted like it should but every other time I’ve tried cheddar it turns out all crumbly and dry. I can make other hard cheeses and pioneer women used to make Cheddar over their wood stoves, so why is this so hard for me?

I am improving, though. The first one I made was falling apart so bad that I took it to a friend with a goat and the goat turned its nose up at it. My latest try was still too dry but was melty so we used it for cooking.

Last week I cut open a delightful Caerphilly and they are almost the same thing so why can’t I make a decent Cheddar?

Speaking of Cheddar, did you guys know that it is traditionally colored with carrot juice? Nowadays commercial cheeses use dies but artesian cheesemakers tend to be more traditional. (I am NOT messing around with any sort of coloring, that is just one more thing that could go wrong and isn’t at all necessary.)

Hubs got inspired to make beer tomorrow so I guess I’d better get the bathtub empty for him. We both use our walk-in bathtub for washing our five gallon pots, they don’t fit in our kitchen sink.

I had a series of short naps, because somebody needed a bathroom break every 90 minutes. Having a Sazarac and watching hockey, since N.C. State did not win the college handegg game. I see Georgia is playing Mississippi State. I predict the Bulldogs will win.

[Mom]Don’t pick at it[/Mom]
And stay safe.

Ouch.

What does this mean? I’ve seen the expression but can’t figure it out from context.

Just (FINALLY) got Tobias down to sleep. Hope he stays down till after 5 at least. We shall see.

FCD went down to the apartment - his dad locked himself in the bedroom after throwing a cup of water at MIL. It’s getting bad. I suspect part of the problem is that MIL can’t do his meds on schedule so his brain chemistry is getting more and more screwed up. But I’m not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV, so what do I know… In any event, it’s very stressful and scary.

It’s also after 10 and I’m exhausted. Off to sleepy-bye with me. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

‘Redshirt’ is from Star Trek (the original series), where crew members wearing red shirts would be killed by the Bad Guy/Bad Thing of the week.

Also letting an underclassman skip a year of playing, so they can train and get better, and still have the year of eligibility. Confusing in this context.

I knew the Star Trek reference, but not the sports one. Thanks, doggio!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 42 (BRRR!) Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 60 and N.O.S. for the day. Cooler weather is returnin’ to these parts this week. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization (I get to plop down in a pew this week) followed by a return to da cave for a sammich N.O.L. This is an any need to feed will be via forage day. Nappage and the usual sloth shall take up the rest of the day.

doggio THE DAWGS beat the MSU puppies last night. Next week THE DAWGS play Kentucky who lost to Vanderbilt yestiddy. Oh the shame!

MOOOOOOM red shirt is what doggio said. So far, kolledge tackleball has refrained from sendin’ players out to be killed.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Happy Sunday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. It’s a really cold one out there this morning. I bundled up in my winter coat and bundled Nelson up in his. My poor heating unit is struggling to keep the chill off (I’m layered up inside too). I don’t know if I’m ready for this.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Morning all. Didn’t sleep all that well, I had a bad sore throat and every time I swallowed it hurt. So I went looking for cough drops and cough medicine to help (albeit I didn’t have a cough), but when I checked the expiry date and they were for 2019 and 2021! So I guess I have been healthy at least that long… So a trip to the Walgreens or another location to replenish my supplies seems to be indicated. The throat is doing better now, but I suspect nappage will be in my future.

Below freezing right now (31F) and not due to get above 45F, so I think the furnace will be on for the next few months. Have it at 68F while sleeping, may boost it up to 72F or so while up…it’s always a work in progress for me.

JtC, so you and hubby produce beer and cheese? You really ought to move to Wisconson… Hope the Ceddar came out good.

red, thanks for the memory; I knew I had heard the name before, just couldn’t remember where.

OK, need to adjust the thermostat and check to see if the Sunday paper is here. All y’all take care.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. It’s 47 degrees ferret height right now. I got uninterrupted sleep last night because I made sure Gordie went out before I went to bed. He wasn’t happy about being woken up out of a sound sleep, but payback’s a bitch, fleabag.

Mornin’ everyone.

It’s currently 30 degrees with an expected of 46. Skies will be cloudy to partly cloudy and then clear up around 2:00. This means it will be cold overnight.

We hung around the house until it was time to leave for my mother’s birthday party at Bruno’s Fine European dining. It’s really mainly German food and a little Polish food. Bruno is Polish, while his wife is German. His restaurant was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives a few years ago. The food is okay, I think we do better at home, having grown up eating German food and making it. But, my mom seems to enjoy it, and she was happy that we were all there to celebrate her special day.

We came back home and hung out and I fell asleep on the couch sometime around 10:00 pm I think. I woke up at 3:00, slept a little more, and then got up around 4:30.

Metal Mouse, I’m sorry you woke up not feeling well. That’s exactly how my crud started. The crud still has me coughing, by the way. It’s not as bad as it was, but I’m sick of it for sure. The cough is bad in the morning, abates for a bit, and returns around 4:00. And, of course, the constant coughing gives me a minor sore throat too. Vicious circle.

I’m waiting on the “the boys” to wake up. I’m sure they’ll sleep in for a good bit. I don’t have any real plans on the agenda today, a little laundry and I think that’s about it, except for trash TV tonight. I hope I can make it through the episodes without falling asleep, or I’ll have to watch them on Demand tomorrow night.
