Did you all change all of your clocks in the MMP?

It’s the best way to let the demons out.

VBC eats prescription kibbles. GG loves to break bread with anyone. GG is still a growing boy so we don’t want him to eat her old cat food, he needs to eat his young cat food. This means VBC eats behind a closed door while GG sticks his paws under the door and digs at the doorsill strip.

The first time he dug the strip up, hubs put it back with double sided tape as recommended. The next day hubs tried epoxy. Later, hubs started nailing it down with finishing nails. After he got tired of banging the nails down every couple of days, he used screws every four inches. Tonight GG broke the strip between a couple of screws. We have more of the strips but the subfloor is getting a little torn up so hubs is talking about doing something with metal plates and rivets.

Evening all. Got all 6 loads of laundry done today, took until after 9:30pm to do it and get everything hung up, but right now I don’t have a dirty piece of laundry in the house (or on me, when I say everything got washed, I meant everything. It’s 77F in the house so instead of worrying about my heating bill, I have to wait a bit until the house cools down–weird weather.

JtC, GG is quite a persistent cuss, isn’t he? You night need barbed wire and mines to corral him.

Sari, pretty sure Cerby is still feeling his way. And Sah-son is being a bit of an…hindquarters.

VanGo, a good night’s rest and I’m sure you’ll deal with the Big Thing.

Sort of like Ol’Hubs there…

OK, cooling down some so may read for awhile and then tuck myself in for some sleepage. All y’all take care.

I live. I’m bleeding a fair amount, but I live. I really, really hope this works. Breathing is actually not an under-rated activity, and hopefully this will make it easier.

Other than that, we’ve had lots of nice, lovely rain and it looks like the Sierras are getting lots of nice lovely snow.

I’m going to poke around a bit and then try to sleep. I could swear that i saw something that said that I should sleep on a recliner, but I can’t find it now. I’ll add a few more pillows just in case.

Everyone excited for Election Day? No? Me neither. I lost my ballot in the move   :cold_sweat:

Take care everyone!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Looks like you had a prolapsed nostril. Feel better!

And today, she’s going to the women’s bible study at the church near them to see if she likes the group. She may get involved with their food pantry, too. If nothing else, it’ll get her out of the apartment for a while. She’s so stressed…

We stopped by there last evening and FIL was just out there. He keeps talking about going downstairs - they’re in a first-floor apartment - so FCD asked him where the stairs were. He walked around the apartment opening doors… it was kinda sad. Then he was crawling around on the floor behind their recliners saying something about needing to fix some wires and something about wires in the cabinets. MIL said earlier he wanted to knock a hole in the wall for some reason. Thankfully, there are no tools in the apartment, and there never will be now.

The big question - what do we do when he gets too far out there? Or if he gets violent? They’ll finally see a local doc next week, and maybe she can point to some good resources. But it’s scary and more than a little bit stressful.

Thanks for letting me unload.

Regarding turkeys - Food Lion has then for 37¢/lb this week. I’m going to go get 2 as soon as I can. I’ll smoke one right away, then freeze it. And I’ll somehow make space for the second one that will be roasted on Turkey Day. That’s the trick - finding freezer space. Time to do some freezer inventory/arranging.

Actually, some of us were too timid to be crazy. I missed out on a lot because of some stupid fear of doing something embarrassing. I was too afraid to talk to boys, so I didn’t date, ergo I missed a big part of high school. If I knew then what I know now… But it all worked out, so there’s that. :grinning:

I hate when that happens…

I haven’t looked at many election results yet, but I was glad to see that Oz lost, and I still haven’t forgiven Oprah for dragging him into the national spotlight. I also wasn’t surprised that most major offices in Merrylands went D by a margin of mostly 2:1. Not in my very red county, tho. Thus endeth my political commentary.

After SIL drops off the Tobester, I’ll bundle the kid up and we’re going to Food Lion. Then I need to check with Daughter to find out if she wants me to bring the kids to her or take them home. Supper tonight will be ham steak and assorted veggies. And that’s pretty much my day.

Happy Wednesday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 52 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 72 and partly N.O.S. for the day. An actual Fall day! We shall procure provisions this mornin’ and then we shall partake of N.O.L. at the hog trough Golden corral. That will more than take care of any need to feed for the day. The usual sloth and general overall uselessness shall occupy the rest of the day. On the upside, sinuses feel a whole lot better this mornin’. I walked out on the back porch a bit ago and breathed in some nice cool air.

VanGo hope the biiiiiig thing goes well today. No doubt it will.

Sunny hope you’re feelin’ better soonest.

MOOOOOOM glad your MIL is gettin’ to get out and do some things. Hopefully she’ll make a few friends and enjpy some activities as well as get a respite.

We have two turkeys in da freezer, so TDay worries here. One will get et on TDay and the other is for down the line. We like turkey a lot.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, bother of bothers, I suppose I must purtify and don attire appropriate for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Life is so hard!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Good morning.

It’s a nice start to the day around these parts. It’ll get up to around72F. Summer-y. Ew. I’m ready for Fall. The sun will be shining, though. Still no rain in the forecast through the end of next week. We really need some more rain! We’re under another windy day/fire danger alert.

I’ve been up for a good while, finished a pot of coffee, and folded laundry. I need to dump the trash from the laundry room, which is next on my agenda. That lint trap has been really doing its job! Good grief, I’ve got lint (Cat and dog hair, mostly!) galore. I need to put away laundry, too. I detest that part of it. There will also be the daily vacuuming that needs to be done. Other than that, well, I’ll do whatever comes up. Maybe. Depends on my mood.

I’m trying to think of something to make for dinner. Probably spaghetti. That’s easy enough. I canned a bunch of tomato sauce, so, I’m all set. I need to look and see if I have any pasta, though. That’ll be the decision-maker. I think I do have some, but, I’ve been wrong before. Time will tell.

Have a good day, folks.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 12c/54f with no predicted change today, and partly cloudy which accounts for the mahoosive downpour going on outside. Weather app says “Shove those fucking clouds up your ass”, and I agree. I need the rain to stop by the time I have to go home, just because it’s a miserable enough commute without having rain on top of delayed and cancelled trains.

I was supposed to be going out with friends tonight but one of them had a rather difficult tooth extraction yesterday involving IV anaesthesia so she is too sore to come out today. Not too sure what to do instead, I might take myself off to the gym, or I might stay at home and veg on the sofa.

We have similar dire warnings about hexmas poultry due to outbreaks of avian flu in our bird population. There’s a nationwide lockdown for poultry so sadly they’re all having to stay indoors as they are in danger of picking up infection from migratory birds arriving here. We have already seen some sick and dead birds in the park near home, it’s very sad but nature is indeed “red in tooth and claw”.

I might need someone to decipher election results for me, I’ve seen a few posts from friends on facebrick but some of them make absolutely no sense so I can’t tell if it’s good news or bad

BBBoo how dare those cookies fall into your cart! I had the same problem last night, a large bag of assorted chocolate treats fell in with my groceries, and since we don’t eat stuff like that, I had to bring it to work to share with the minions.

Moooom I’m glad MIL is getting out a bit and making friends slowly, I’m sure the support will be good for her in a while. Also sorry to hear about FIL and the downward trend, I hope the new doc will be able to help or at least give some useful advice.

Sunny that looks painful! I hope your recovery is swift and you’re soon feeling (and breathing) better.

Oh well…better get back to what I allegedly get paid to do!

Today is get my allergy shots day which means I will feel icky. I envision sloth with a soupçon of vacuuming.

BBBoo, one reason I stay out of the cookie aisle at the stores is the bad habit of them jumping right into my cart…now need to stay away from the cracker aisle…

FCM, hope the Doctor’s appointment for FIL gives him (and everyone else) some relief.

Sunny, y’all are wearing that mask wrong… :grinning: :grinning: Seriously, hope things work out for the best for you.

Up at 6:30am and need to do the last bit of laundry-I let my jeans air-dry after some dryer time because somebody told me that worked better and I’m too lazy to goggf it’s true or not. So five hangers and I’m done. Also need to eat and do my swimmin-n-sauna stuff.

Have a good Hump Day all.

Not worrying about the price of turkey. I’m not cooking this year.

Hi all. Neither am I cooking this year, at least, I’m not on turkey duty.

Up late watching the votes; Oregon is still counting for governor. I think I’ll skip my 9 a.m. Zoom meeting and go back to sleep.

Both cats are inside (I TOLD them it was freaking cold by California kitty standards), and the Instant Pot is brewing a chicken. I need to find a faster way to get the excess fat off the broth than refrigerating it overnight (I posted in Cafe Society about that). Grocery delivery this afternoon, some laundry, not a lot planned, really.

Woke up to no “red wave”, which was encouraging, and a gray, foggy day in Mipples this morning.

Waffles this morning. I topped them with some leftover pecan tart sauce mixed with maple syrup, which was inspirational, IMO. Cooked up the rest of the batter and will freeze them.

Went to the thrice-weekly exercise class, which continues to be the best part of living here at The Overlook Hotel.

You could always use rice. My mom did that once in a while - rice with spaghetti sauce. We called it slop. We were classy kids!

Tobias is snoozing (huzzah!!) He and I did Food Lion this morning and I learned really quickly to keep him out of arm’s reach of everything! I got 2 turkeys - one at the super sale price, and a Butterball at .99/lb. I’ll be smoking the Butterball this weekend since it’s the smaller of the two, and we’ll roast the other (slightly over 20#) on T-day. I also scored some diet cokes, some progresso soups on sale, and a few miscellaneous other things to make sure I met the purchase limit to get the cheap turkey price. Yep, I met it and then some!!

FCD has gone to talk to a local funeral director about cremation services hereabouts. Apparently the “nationwide plan” the in-laws purchased is widely known to be pretty scammy. When it’s time to use it, all kinds of other costs show up, driving the price way into the rafters. But supposedly they can cancel and get a refund, so that’s what FCD is working on for them.

Meanwhile, I was able to set up their FL property tax payment thru their bank. I love on-line banking and payments!!

Daughter has a parent meeting this afternoon, so she’ll be late. I invited her to supper - we’ll have ham steak and assorted veggies. Busy afternoon ahead…

Don’t count any chickens yet. :frowning:

Looking at the election results for the statewide vote on legalization of pot, it passed in every single county except for one. Garrett County is the western-most - tucked right there against West VA. They don’t want the devil weed there…

Historically, the incumbent party loses seats at the midterms. The houses are so tight on vote counts already that almost any shift will be significant. Right now we seem to be at “better than we expected but too soon to celebrate”. There’s at least one major runoff election, and still vote counting to be done.

Happy Doperversary, swampy! :tada:

I started yesterday by voting in person/on election day for the first time in two years. The polling place was pretty quiet, so I was able to chat a bit with the assistant election chief – who had been the chief for the first two elections I worked (Virginia has a thing where chiefs have to be the same party as the governor, and that changed in January). In June I’d been assigned to a different district, so I hadn’t seen him in a while. I’ll try to get back to my home district for the next election.

Then I met up with my best friends for lunch, and afterwards the husband and son went to IKEA while the wife and I did some local shopping. I wound up with a handful of new tops, which I needed due to not having many fall clothes in my current size. It still completely hurts my head that I fit in “medium” tops now! Within the next few weeks I have an in-person work event and tickets to four shows, and it’s nice to have things that fit well and will look nice. In fact, I’m doing laundry today and will likely wear one of my new sweaters tomorrow night (I’ll be seeing Lisa Fischer for the third time). I got home just before dark, which was perfect timing because I hadn’t left any lights on when I left the house at 10am. Bailey forgave me for being out most of the day sometime after her second Milk Bone.

This morning I spent time on some volunteer stuff; otherwise, I’m just doing the aforementioned laundry until class #2 starts in three hours (OMG how is it 1pm already?!). I don’t know what I was thinking when I signed up for 4-8pm classes! I guess I figured just four of them wouldn’t be too bad, but it’s really a horrible timeframe for me. I think it will actually be worse next week, when I’m back at work, because I’ll be in this room/on a computer for 11-12 straight hours those days. Oh well…live and learn. Time to go eat lunch and spend some quality time with the doggy before it’s time for class.

Hoping it’s not too late for these: :crossed_fingers: :crossed_fingers: !

I’ll admit that I was one of them! And I wore the sticker all day!
