Did you all change all of your clocks in the MMP?

So I kept being sent between Small and the 200 slide. Plus all the rewraps were late. Naptime.

Happy Hump Day!

Even though it was 34 degrees this morning, it didn’t feel so bad at the park.
We had a nice group.
I need to irk with Cerby though, his barking is starting to rival Barky’s, and that is not good.
Moonday, my son sat in the pavilion with us. He was playing on his phone, which was making a spot of light on the ceiling. Cerby went berserk trying to get the light. Now he runs around the pavilion barking his fool head off looking for the light.
The no bark collar seems to irk in vibrate mode at home, but we might have to put it into shock mode at the park.

I feel for my son MetalMouse, Cerby is extra irk for him.
Pre Cerby, we would come home from the park. My son would take Echo’s leash, I take care of Ripple, we walk in and close the gate behind us, take off their leashes and done. Adam would be waiting by the back door, unless he had already come in before we left.
Post Cerby, we get home. My son takes the keys from me, goes to the house and unlocks the door. I wait in the truck with the dogs. Then he looks for Adam, who won’t come in if Cerby is around. Some days Adam is waiting by the door and he lets him in, feeds him and gives him his pill. Most days Adam is nowhere in sight, so my son walks back out to the alley and calls him. Adam will take his sweet old time following my son back to the house. Or, he balks, and my son has to pick him up and carry him into the house.
Sometimes he has to open the side gate, which is a PITA to get open and closed, and let Adam in the bilco doors.
(Fixing the side gate has been added to the list. I think it’s too heavy and is pulling the railing apart.)
Then he comes back out to let me know everything is good, he gets Echo and Cerby, and takes them in, with Cerby trying to drag him into the yard, and Echo trying to drag him to the alley to see if there is anything worth chasing. I follow behind with Ripple.
Cerby is extra irk, all day long.
Ripple and Echo know the drill around here, they fall into the rhythm of the house. I know Cerby will get it eventually. Unfortunately for my son, a lot of the extra irk falls on him because I am irking during the day and can’t deal with Cerby.
His sleep gets interrupted a lot because of the barking.

I thought Ripple’s barking was annoying. He always does three woof woof woofs. His bark is low and deep.
Cerby’s is high-pitched, eardrum shattering, arf arf arf arf arf arf with a bunch of screams and yelps added in. Every time he barks, he sounds like he is being tortured.

One of the things on my list is to move all my irk stuff to the middle bedroom. As of now, I irk in the living room. If I go upstairs the dogs won’t hear as much of what is going on outside, and may bark less.

I have to call the city; somebody stole our recycling bin. Probably one of the new people across the street. We have such ignorant people around here; they could order their own damn bin instead of stealing ours.

I’m glad the damn elections are over. I’m registered Independent, so I get it from both sides. I swear the one asshole must have killed thousands of trees for all the shit he was putting out in the mail every damn day. He spent millions of dollars of his own money to campaign for a job that pays $174,000 a year. Sounds stupid to me, or he is making even more millions in shady deals.
I was getting tons of snail mail, email, phone calls on both phones, text messages, and two canvassers. To make matters worse, I was also getting phone calls, text messages, and emails for my mother and Anne Arundel County.
Today, no mail, no phone calls, no text messages, no emails.
Silence.

I’m grumpy today again.

nellie, kids do get mono and pass it around like they do everything else. My baby sis brought it home to us kids when she was in kindergarten.

I’m glad you all are getting your MIL out of the house Moooooom. When my mom was living, one of their neighbors would come in to “visit” with her, shooing Dad down to the coffee shop or bar. She was a good neighbor to recognize that he needed a break.

Good luck on the biiiig thing (that’s likely already happened by now) VanGo.

Feel better soonest sunny!

Well, it was a good call on packing a lunch today. We had a short meeting this morning to announce that the lunch was called off (evidently, the caterer had double booked). Had it happened, I would have just left my lunch in the fridge for tomorrow.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Howdy Y’all! We procured provisions, got haircuts, and were bears who N.O.L. at the hog trough GC. That’s a lot for us! There was excitatement when we pulled up at the haircut place. Firetrucks all over the parkin’ lot. The hibachi place next to the haircut place caught fire. It was out when we got there but cleanup was goin’ on. The woman who cut my hair told me they had to evacuate for a bit. I told her that means she has a story to tell when she gets off irk. She laughed. After all that we needed nappage and day drinkin’ for sure.

I am also proud to get my little peach sticker that says “I’m a Georgia Voter.” I usually take a pic of me wearin’ it and post in on the book of faces. I am retired and must find ways to amuse myself.

Hello! Today was itch shot day (Hi, Yanker!), which, including the walking, bus-riding, and waiting, takes up 4.5 hours. I have laundry to do and floors to clean yet and–Holy Anachronism, Batman!–letters to write.

Boo, those cookies knew you needed them. They’re smart cookies.

Ditto and ditto.

Are you having JD and partner over? What about The Wives?

So…a weather enema?

Sunny, I hope you feel better soonest. We need a happy photo!

That’s what I do. I think jeans get softer than when only air dried and don’t shrink as much as when dried only in the drier.

Probably worried it’d mean lower moonshine sales and more revenooers.

So are rewraps items in boxes that got damaged??

sari, I can see now why your son isn’t thrilled with Cerby. He probably had no idea how high maintenance ol’ Cerbs would be when he agreed to let him come. Here’s hoping Cerby settles down soon!

Quiet reigns again. We had a nice supper - Tobias got smashed spuds in his hair and his nose and who knows where else. Roxy ate more than I did, more than her grandpa did - that girl can pack it away! The dishwasher is finishing its cycle and I’ll soon assume the recline position. Maybe I can enjoy TV again, now that the idiotic political ads are done. I feel sorry for Jawjans with their runoff election. Do the right thing and don’t let Walker in the Senate. I suspect he has no idea what Senators do…

Tomorrow is supposed to be really nice, so I’ll take the kids to the playground. Sadly, we’re supposed to get drenched on Firday and I won’t have time to run the leaf sucker. Dammit. Hope they dry quickly.

But that’s a worry for another day. Chillage shall ensue.

I must go and scrub my eyebrows, there was much sanding today, so I know they’re full of dust. It really sucks when you rub your head and a bunch of crap falls into your eyes. And it’s close to time to put the chix in the oven, I’m making vaguely Mediterranean inspired gyro things fer dinner.

sunny Hoping the health switches around!

sari I’m sure Cerby will figure it out sooner or later. At least I hope so.

Evening all, Swimming and Sauna have been accomplished, and in a burst of energy I got all the trash collected and out to the curb for tomorrow before 6pm…might be a new record for me. Now just chilling for a bit until BLT time.

Sari, understand Son’s frustration, but hopefully Cerby will settle into life there…or you can find him a place that doesn’t mind a hyper-mutt…

VanGo, probably a dumb question, but don’t you have goggles/protective eyewear you could use?

nellie, hope the shot was worth the 4.5 hours.

swampy, I guess the cook at the hibachi place got carried away with his creations…

OK, late enough to get some BLT’s made. Take care all.

Went for my 3+ mile walk. Before that, I slipped out to the supermarket. Aluminum foil has gotten expensive; $17 for a 200-foot roll of Reynolds. I stacked some smaller lengths of firewood, that were in front of the wood shed, in the catio. Now I can get to the longer pieces that are actually in the shed. Fed the cats. Worked my work (and my inbox never seems to empty). Having a ginnintonic, and I’ll make myself some sort of leftover beef sandwich in a minute.

nellie, the no votes for MJ in West VA is likely because they don’t want legal competition (pot farming and meth labs are just as big business as making white whiskey in the hills).

metal mouse I wear glasses with polycarbonate lenses, so my eyes are protected from flying debris, but the dust in the air gets everywhere. It oddly accumulates in my eyebrows. When I call quitting time, I’ll use the compressed air and spray myself off, usually quite the dust storm.

I sparked up the broiler in the oven for the first time in a while. I must have a mouse infestation, it smells a bit of mouse pee. Think I’ll let it burn for a while before the food goes in. Troubles of a 150 year old house with a stacked stone crawl space. Can’t keep 'em out.

Ok, 5 minutes later, now it just smells “hot.”

He reported that the teller cracked up and took the time to check every bill for softness.

OWWWWWW!!!

I hope this works.

Oh good, I’m sure she needs a break. I’m so sorry that your FIL is going down so quickly. I was hoping he would start getting better once he settled in somewhat.

Thankfully, I have never lacked for confidence, but I did learn early to use distraction when I did something stupid. Which was often. I wasn’t an “any attention is good attention” sort of kid, I wanted positive attention and learned how to get it. i.e. getting grounded for staying out too late is negative attention, remembering to call my folks and tell them were I was and why we were going to be late got me positive attention and I wasn’t a stupid kid.

I wonder what happened?

I can’t talk about the elections. It’s never going to be over out here.

I mentioned the turkey shortage to hubs and he thought that he should buy one and we could give up the free turkey I signed up so someone who needed it more could have it. When he got to town he learned that his choice was a turkey breast or a chicken.

I asked about the turkey while I was picking up our surplus produce box and they said that they still had more room on their list but they would contact me if they ran out and I could give mine up then.

I took our neighbor’s box to her and she made happy noises about the carrots and battered fish fingers. It makes me happy to know that her kids are learning to eat such things as raw carrots and apples cause the habits they make now are going to last forever.

It started raining around 8am today and we got a nice long slow showers and drizzles until around 3. The low spot in the front yard is a swamp, we need to get a load of river rock dumped there. My plan was to stop at the riverbed and fill up a bucket every time we went to Black Canyon City but hubs nixed that one so pay for it we will.

Tonight hubs is making fish and chips because we got potatoes and breaded fish in our box today…plus he’s got a new toy to play with.

That is what they are for. Keeps the dust out of your eyes.

Hubs was an auto body repair guy, I remember seeing the quitting time dust storms when I picked him up at the shop.

Irish pizza tonight (Papa Murphy’s take-and-bake). DH got his usual half pepperoni / half Hawaiian with olives and mushrooms added to both sides. I’m trying the new Hog Heaven (Canadian bacon, normal bacon, and ground sausage), which IMO they should be offering about late January / early February.

After Walmart frustrated me by not selling gravy separators in-store (WHY?), the Jungle came through for me with a very nice 4-cup Oxo model with release valve at the bottom. It worked beautifully, my broth is now cooking down a bit (I like stronger flavor). Even got same-day delivery. It was here ca. 4:45pm, ordered less than 6 hours before. I love my Prime membership.

Me too.

I have one of those houses too. When my ancient gas stove was removed 4 years ago by the men who delivered my new gas stove I guess a mouse jumped out of the old stove when they pushed it off the moving dolly in their truck. They then unloaded it and left it on my curb (company rules). Had to get my refuse company to come collect it~they didn’t have any qualms about mice. It’s all scrap to them.

With three cats in residence I suppose my oven was the only place left.

I think I’m really close to losing my shit over the election. Poor Bright Tree had to PM me about me melting down in P&E. Chances are really good that I’m going to take an internet break for a couple of days. I can’t do now until the dust settles.

I am expecting riots if Hobbs wins, but we will be just fine out here. It’s hard to get a good riot going when everyone lives so far apart. I certainly couldn’t walk all the way to the junction for a riot and I’m sure there wouldn’t be any parking left by the time we got our shoes and jackets on.

The dear lady didn’t melt down in P&E. She has some understandable concerns. I PM’d her because I wanted to offer a sympathetic ear if she needed one.

It is very likely to get ugly where our JtC lives, I’m afraid.

Hope everyone is well and if anyone needs a hug, you’ve got one from me.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave,

Yep. And the Boxcrusher 9000TM was working overtime today.

I think the boy has watched Scarface one too many times.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 63 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 67 and rain startin’ this afternoon into tomorrow mornin’. We are also under a TROPICAL STORM WARNING due to Nicole. This will be in the form of rain and wind. However, it could be that Nicole is a tropical depression by the time she reaches us which will tone down the wind somewhat. Anywho, we have no plans to go or be anywhere today. Methinks this is a good day to stay inside and dry. I shall put a small hunk o’ poke into the slow cooker and let it hang out most of the day. Then it shall turn into bbq. Sup shall be bbq sammiches, coleslaw, and oven fries.

MOOOOOOM I shall do my best to keep that total fool out of the Senate. Let’s hope enough other Jawjans do the same.

Nellie we shall host Turkey Day for a dozen folks includin’ us. Haven’t done this since before the plague so lookin’ forward to it. It’s only two weeks away!

MetalMouse I am told the fire at the hibachi place was due to a rice cooker over heatin’. I have no idea how one does that. I think perhaps someone was not bein’ cautious enough.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 13c/55f with a predicted high of 14c/57f and it’s mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Each cloud in the sky fucking hates you”. I’m not sure I’d go quite that far, but you never know. I don’t need to venture out until later today but I might go and move my car out onto the street in a while as I’m going out later.

I have icky stuff to do for irk today, don’t really want to do any of it but if I don’t then nobody else will. Kevin, the spare cat who thinks he lives here, has just come in for a nose around. He’s had some uneaten food that our mogs left behind, and he’s now settled in a cardboard box for a snooze.

Might watch the lunchtime news and see what the fallout is from your elections though
