Did you all change all of your clocks in the MMP?

Wait - is this you??

:mental image of damaged Mrs. Paul’s fish sticks:

Grandson mine LOVES fruit! He knows where our bananas live. He’ll snarf down grapes and peach slices and pineapple chunks and berries and apples… oh, and veggies, too. Roxy was the same way. She like sweets, but she’s good with healthy snacks. Smart kids!

If MIL’s youngest sis and her spouse are able to make it, we’ll be 11 at table. Otherwise, 9. I’m hoping to get the one turkey smoked this weekend - I’ll have to speed its thaw in a bowl of water, which is no big deal. The other on is in the back of the fridge, still hard as a rock. I think it’ll be fine till I have to roast it. We’ll be dining on Tues or Weds, depending on the two iffy guests. (they’re not being rude - their car is in the shop and they don’t know if it’ll be fixed by then - hard-to-get-part is the issue.)

I actually slept till 5 this morning! Stayed in bed till a bit after 6, messing with my tablet. I emptied the dishwasher while waiting for the computer to update, and now I’m surfing and waiting for the Tobenator to arrive. It’s supposed to be a mild afternoon so I can take the kids to the playground. Nothing more exciting beyond that.

Happy Thursday!!

Good morning everyone. I’ve gotten way behind, but I guess that’s allowed in the MMP. It’s 64F this morning, but expected to start getting colder with rain and near freezing temps by tomorrow night. “Chillage” (not the MMP kind) will continue through the week with predictions of freezing temps by Wed/Thurs.

Pullinson had a layover in town, so we got to spend Tuesday evening having dinner with him and catching up on news. He seems to be stuck on a Honolulu, Tokyo, Singapore, and a buncha islands route – which makes for really interesting stories and pics. It was nice to completely ignore the election furor and share stories instead.

Last night unwrapped the pork butt to begin prep for smoking this morning… and it was badly freezer burned. Apparently a big gash was in the plastic packaging and had left it open to (freezer) air for some time. I was bummed, but threw it away out of caution. It looked pretty gross.

On the plus side, we got the hot tub filled and chemical-ed, and heated up yesterday. I’ll check this morning, but I think the chems will have settled to human-usable levels by now (shocked it first, just to be careful). Looking forward to basking* in it during the upcoming cold and rain.

Also made our campsite reservations for traveling on Thanksgiving weekend. We’re going “down South” to enjoy the holiday with pullinDaughter. She has a break and wants to host us for Thanksgiving – all grown up like, doncha know? Also, for boring reasons we’re keeping the “devildog” for the next few weeks (her dog) and this is also a trip to return him. After a few weeks I’ll be ready to FedEx the annoying creature back to her. (I’m kidding, but the dog is a handful and has a phenomenally productive anus, such that I need a front-end loader to clean up my yard)

Hope everyone has a good(-er) week! Will to try to wander by more often. Stuff happens though – I’m sure y’all know.

*Is “basking” something only done in the sun, or can it be done in warm water?

Had a scary dream last night. A bunch of us, including James May and Jeremy Clarkson form Top Gear, were captured by Communist (think Cold War era) and were given truth serum. When that wore off we were set free but they chased us. I hid in my neighbor’s pantry but was found. Turns out it was a “practical joke.” I was not amused.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 35 degrees with an expected high around 45 and cloudy skies for the day.

It was a very brisk 26 degrees when I left the house yesterday morning for my commute down south to the office. However, it warmed up to low forties and the sun came out.

I spent most of my day in a planning meeting with the rest of the management team yesterday. It wasn’t bad, and I appreciated the fact that it wasn’t completely structured. Sometimes, ideas flow more freely when things aren’t so structured. I was glad when the day was over, though.

Polar was very unhappy that I was gone all day and didn’t seem to have much of an appetite at all. I am hoping he’ll perk up today. Right now, he’s lying at my feet waiting for me to go to work upstairs.

I do not like the new Xfinity homepage at all. I hate it, actually. In other news, home network somehow disappeared yesterday. When I came home, I couldn’t hook up to it because it was “out of range”. The forget and rescan trick didn’t work and neither did resetting the modem, router or computer. I was really irritated. It shows my router as a network, but not the named network I set up. I was so annoyed and grumpy because of it last night. Normally, I’m quite determined and dogged in my pursuit of fixing something or finding a solution, but that was not the case last night. Frankly, I really hate this router and am sorry I bought it. It wasn’t a cheap router, so that makes me even more irritated.

There was a major senate race here that went the way I wanted it to go. Thank goodness, because the opponent was a crazy-assed wingnut and an election denier. Sadly, the numbers show just how nutso many of the people in our state have become, it was closer than it should have been.

We had all kinds of excitement here the day before yesterday. Somehow, my across-the-street neighbors backed and rammed through the entire front door and wall of the house with their SUV. I don’t even know how it happened because the driveway is next to the porch and the garage juts out. There were no tire tracks in the lawn (that I could see) either. Anyway, the SUV’s back end was inside the house, and the rest of the SUV was jammed between a post holding up the roof on the porch and the actual house itself. It took hours to remove and the fire department had to come to help the driver out of the rig because she was trapped in there. When they finally removed the SUV, it was obvious that it will be totaled. The frame is bent. It was a nice SUV before that happened. I don’t think anyone was hurt and that’s a good thing. We don’t know these people and have never talked to them. Since there were so many emergency personnel and other folks milling about, we felt it was best to stay away and let them deal with the situation.

We have been granted a two-hour early release today, and I think I’m going to use those hours.

I hope you all have a terrific day.

Morning all. 64F currently heading for 76F but rain is expected tonight and tomorrow and the high temps will be heading into0 the 50’s by next week, so think I’ll do the last mowage of the season today (November 10th). At least I hope it’s the last one… We’ll see if that exercise replaces my usual gym workout or if I get motivated to visit there anyway.

Taters, yeah, that’s something you don’t see everyday. Hope they have good insurance.

wet one, only thing missing from your dream is a rescue by Richard Hammond (who would then crash the car naturally…).

yanker, glad you got to see son-unit, and sounds like daughter-unit’s dog at least keeps you active (in cleaning up behind him…). And lying in a long, hot bath is basking to me and I don’t care with the Oxford English Dictionary says!

VanGo, figured something like that. Take care.

Swampy, hope you stay warm and dry from Nicole.

JtC, take care now. As for those folks promising riots, read about the Copperheads during the Civil War…they marched and elected folks and threatened great uprisings and…when it was upon them, they found ‘other’ things to be doing and in general it was a great fizzle, revolution-wise. I think things will be more peaceful than you think; but take care anyway.

Happy gravying, Nettie. And I’ll give Amazon that, I usually get the stuff pretty quickly here and as ordered (probably jinxed myself there, didn’t I?).

   I admit I don’t buy it that often, but the price does seem extreme.

OK, need to break my fast and then head out to perform mowage. All y’all have a good day.

I may need to go to the Mac store today instead of taking a lunch walk.

I filled up my iCloud by saving a very large folder there. I got a warning my iCloud storage was full, so I dragged the folder onto my desktop. I thought that took care of the problem, but this morning I got another warning. I’ve tried dragging into the Trash icon in iCloud, and I’ve tried dragging it to the bin on the computer. I’ve tried right-clicking, but there’s no option to delete. So I may have to let the experts take care of it.

Happy Thorsday!

Chilly 37 degrees at the park this morning.
Barky and Humpy are back, only gone for one day.
All three of mine went in the small side with Lucy dad. I feel kind of dumb sitting there with no dogs.
However, Jax decided I was his best friend today and kept bringing me his ball.

I woke up at 4am, and Cerby was up as well. I wanted to go back to sleep, but I was afraid he might need to go out, so I got up.

My son has one more day of irk, then he gets the ToDo List.
He is going to die when he sees it, but I told him I don’t care if he likes it or not, I expect EVERYTHING on the list to be done before he goes back it irk.
There is stuff on it for me to do, I think I’m going to take another week off as well.

This morning I’m going to walk to the store. A friend is dropping by this afternoon. Old Flame called yesterday, but I wasn’t home and couldn’t talk, so he’s calling today because I said I’d be home all day. Plans changed. He won’t be happy, but c’est la vie, c’est la guerre.

That sounds like a horrible dream, WetOne. I had yet another teaching dream, this one where I was trying to cram all of WWII into one class period because we were almost out of semester. Then I realized I’d forgotten to cover WWI. Apparently I’d been intermittently comatose or something. Meanwhile, the principal (a competent one instead of the lazy, cojones-less sycophant who’s still there), superintendent, and a state official were evaluating me.

FCM, when my daughter was two, her favorite food was “broccobye.” She could eat it by the cupful. I’d have to cut her off so she had room for Twinkies and CocoPuffs. OK, only the first part of that sentence is true. She actually never had either of those until she was an adult. Her friends were appalled. I didn’t feed her sticks and berries, and I even got her Lucky Charms once, but I didn’t like my kids to have sugary cereals, and of course Twinkies aren’t even food.

flyboy, hope the Genius Bar folks fix the issue. I asked one once if he put “Genius” on his tax returns. He said he did.

JtC, you have reason to worry but not to take a break from the SD/internet. I quit posting anywhere but the MMP several months ago because people were getting quite irritated with me, and I realized they must have reason. My time-out has been most instructive. You’re smart and savvy, and many people would miss you if you were to take a break, so I hope you don’t.

taters, I’m with you on the election results. Smiley is an idiot, but idiots like to elect one of their own; luckily, there were just enough smart people to defeat her, but as you said, too close. The guy I voted for for county sheriff lost. And what’s with your neighbors? Sounds eerily like the Ann Heche incident but thank heavens, without the fire. Same cause, though, maybe?

The man across the street has been leaf blowing his yard all morning. I would like to shove a banana up his leaf blower. Leaf blowers will be banned when I am Empress of the World.

I think the situation is resolved, as I no longer see the folder and I don’t have the warning banner. I guess it just took a very long time.

So I guess I’ll get my walk in today after all. Should be up to 39º Ferret Height by then.

Okay, that was funny.

Sits quietly next to you.

I had a repair guy at 9 am yesterday (which is normally my dead-ass asleep time) and I was so worried about missing him I’d been up since 6. So yesterday was a … not so wonderful day at work. I made it through my shift (didn’t make any mistakes that I know about!) but have pretty much slept through half of today.

… might also take a nap.

Afternoon all. Front yard has been mowed, I set the cutting height down a notch and got three full bags already, so the back yard will get notched up to ‘normal’, if I feel like cutting it down more that can be another day. Taking a short break, it’s only 74F but a bit humid (rain tonight is 80-90% likely) so doing my sweating now. Also got mail (been coming 5-8pm) and the garbage picked up (and can restored to it place in the garage).

Wet one, my neighbors are usually pretty good about not disturbing the peace and quiet, but I heartily support your leaf-blower ban.

I’m metal mouse and I endorse this sentence.

OK, caffeinated and sweating has ceased, so need to get the back yard done. Take care all

I suspect he needs help pouring water out of a boot…

sari I hope Cerby settles down soon. It sounds like you’re doing right by him. I’m sure he’ll figure it out.

My dad introduced my son to chocolate when he was a toddler and it was all downhill from there. I envy your healthy children…

Nellie, JtC I appreciate your posts wherever you post, so please keep on doing it. I think y’all are swell.

Here’s a little something (heh - he’s very small) to make up for my weird health pictures. Zorro settling into his new life
Imgur

Take care y’all.

Heaved. I got out late, because they miraculously wee finding stuff to scan/retape/send back long after the package cars had left. Also there are hordes of seasonal Blueberries now. And thye block everything. Sort of a Blueberry jam.

Definitely gonna leave a Marx on your psyche.
I’ll be here all week. Tip the veal, and try the waitress.

Just come back. We’d miss you.

Today’s entertainment was a trip in the Dead-mobile to the symphony hall to hear Mahler’s 3rd. Quite an ambitious work. The orchestra had seven bass viols, six percussionists, and two harps by my count. It’s also l-o-o-o-o-n-g.

Just shoved a batch of cornbread into the oven to go with the stew on a rainy day. Temps are dropping, and we’ll be in the twenties and 30s starting tomorrow and throughout the week.

All this talk about a turkey shortage made me decide to get mine today. Wee problem #1: I forgot I’m not supposed to lift more than 10 pounds and got a 17-pounder. Wee problem #2: The bagger at the store kept putting my produce, etc. in my babushka cart even after I nicely said, “Might want to wait for the turkey,” which was last on the belt. She was about to sling it on top when I took it off her hands. Wee problem #3: I only have my above-the fridge freezer, and it’s got stuff in it. I made it fit, though.

Oh, and a 1 lb. package of noodles was $4.79! And it’s the store brand. Name brands were $5.99. This is the cheaper of the two grocery stores, too. The world has gone bonkers–the expensive kind of bonkers.

Thank you Shoe
I hope to shake this mood while my son is on vacation.
So much to do, the truck is filthy and that is on the list to get it a good cleaning and put the seat covers back in it. We’ll do that the same day I am getting the dogs groomed, and I need to remember to wash the harnesses and leashes and collars too.

I have an appointment with the physical therapist tomorrow and I don’t want to go. It took so long to get the appointment, I don’t think I should reschedule.

Very cute puppy, Sunny.

The power went out in the middle of this post, and now it is back.
So annoying.

JtC you should not leave, unless you think you need to, but I never go out there anymore, too many… words that may get me banned.

I am always sort of agog at the prices in the Haggen store down there, nellie. On the other hand aI spent over 400 bucks on very little at Safeway last weekend. Even the cashier was shocked and kept going over the receipt to make sure I wasn’t overcharged.

See the tree in front of this house?

That’s on my walking route down the beach. I don’t know what kind of tree it is, but it’s tall. Yesterday I saw that part of it fell down in last week’s wind storm. It fell on the chain-link fence of the trailer park next door. ‘That was a close one!’ I thought, ‘Good thing it missed the house!’

Well, today on my walk I made sure to look up. Another part of the tree also broke off. The top of it hit the house and damaged the right corner of the front. It didn’t look too bad; some roof damage, and the gutter was kind of hanging off. But still, a real bottomer.

Incidentally, the next house to the north, the Vogt House, is being turned into a library.

Howdy Y’all! Been a windy/rainy day here in south Jawja thanks to Nicole. It should continue that way tonight and into tomorrow mornin’. Not complainin’ cause we’re inside and dry. Been a good day to sloth away. We napped. We day drank. We made and et sup. Now we continue in sloth mode.

Yanker I think that in a hot tub you would baste more than bask. Glad you got to see your son and catch up. Yay for your daughter wantin’ to be all grown up and host Turkey Day. I am sure devildog will be glad to see his mama again.

Taters yikes! Glad there was no major human damage, only house and car. Houses and vehicles can be fixed/replaced.

MetalMouse I kinda need to mow but donjuana. However, I suppose I should before Turkey Day just so da yahd looks better.

Sunny Zorro is such a lil’ cutie!

MOOOOOM would damaged Mrs. Paul’s fish sticks be used fish sticks? I like to ponder the deeper things in life.

Flyboy also yikes! Hope there’s not too much damage to your house.
