Did you all change all of your clocks in the MMP?

Nothing fell at our house. We had the tops of a cedar come down a couple of years ago, but we’ve had trees that looked dangerous cut down. Still have some in the back of the shed.

Evening all. Mowage was completed, I went ahead and trimmed the backyard down, so a total of 7 bags full of clippings are at the curbside. Rain isn’t due until after 9pm, so I’m thinking about going to the gym since I haven’t gotten away from the house all day, But I took a nice hot bath already and do I really want to get all sweaty again??

So get a female horse to crop the yard, because I’m sure Marejuana…I’ll get me coat…

flyboy, lovely country you live in (when trees aren’t falling down).

Sari, go ahead and see the PT folks; maybe a change of scenery (even if it is a Medical office) will help.

Sunny, cute pup!

OK, going to put on my gym stuff and go do about 500-600 calories of riding, since I probably just added them with my Cheeburger and Pepsi. Take care all.

((((Zorro!))))

taters, it makes me wonder if your neighbor hit the gas rather than the brake. Still good that no humans were injured though.

I’m glad that you had a nice visit with your son yank.

JtC, I know the need to take breaks from some media from time to time. I hope that you allow the MMP visits for the duration though. Like metal mouse, this is really the only place on the dope that I post any more and has been for a few years.

Squee! Zorro is absolutely adorable sunny.

Irked, came home and took Nelson to the dog park, where we stayed later than usual. He got to hang out with Layla, Bandit, Ollie, Jack, Mikey and a new chihuahua named Cody, played puppy tag and chased balls that Mikey’s dad launched for them for about an hour and a half. A good time was had by all.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

It is. Summer is glorious. Winter… It can be a mite chilly. And snowy.

Of course you can navigate on the link I shared. Pan to the right, and you can see part of the berm. I walk from the Cottonwood Beach North Access (before the berm starts) to Terrell Creek (where the berm ends). Not far from the start of my walk, there’s a new bald eagle nest in a tree across from the beach. There was another nest I could see from our deck, that was there for 10 or 20 years. I’ll have to look to see if it’s still there.

You are so sweet, thank you. We are planning to be homebodies for the next week or so just because of the small things happening.

There is a small park out here. Twenty five or so years ago, the American Legion installed a small memorial and concrete flagpole holders so we could have a small “Avenue of Flags”. I bought my father a flagpole holder and he flew out so he could place his flag in the holder for the ceremony. His name is right there by the gate, and we give the American Legion money every couple of years to replace “his” flag cause the sun and wind just destroys flags in no time at all.

So anyhow, folks were out placing flags for the weekend and someone in a Trump 2024 T-shirt was waving his flag around at the junction. Someone driving a penis extension (shiny, new, lifted pick-up that will never see a dirt road) flipped the flag waver off. Trumpie responded by hitting the truck with his flag and the driver jumped out with a tire iron and they both left in ambulances.

After I heard, I drove by and saw that Dad’s flag was just fine, it was the first one that was missing.

This is all on you and their parents. You are the ones who taught them that fruit and veggies were good to eat, some caregivers just give their kids what they want.

My BFF’s parents wouldn’t cater to her at all. They told her that if she didn’t like what was being served, she could just go hungry. She went hungry and never learned to appreciate different tastes or textures. She is almost 50 and has about 10 things she is she is willing to eat and will NOT try anything else at all. It is pretty sad TBH.

Oh, man, I hate it when that sort of thing happens. You have yourself all set and whammo, not happening and money and food wasted :frowning:

!!!

That beats my mangled stop sign stories all to heck!

Thank you and yeah, I think it’s better this way TBH. It gives folks time to keep looking at the results and get used to the idea that they lost. I’m still worried about random fires like happened today spreading like a wildfire in a more populated area.

Thank you so much for the encouragement. I realized that today was the deadline for the Secret Santa and I had to deal with that because I am the one who started it. Plus, I wanted to know what was going on with my mumper family.

For everyone, I extended the date to the 15th, so if you were thinking about signing up but forgot, do it now cause everyone will get their secrets on the 16th.

He has always been a considerate kinda guy.

OMGOMGOMG, that pic should come with a syringe of insulin because it is so stinkin sweet!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I never considered leaving for good, I’d have missed all you guys too much, I just needed to stop letting the bad things get to me for a while and it is much too easy to just jump over to P&E. The poor mods would have had to waste their time scolding me and I would have ended up feeling ashamed of myself for my bad behavior.

Okay, wish me luck. I just gave myself my first Ozempic injection. I’ve been using metformin for years but it’s losing effectiveness. I haven’t been very interested in injectable diabetes meds, but this is a once a week pen that doesn’t need refrigeration once it’s first used.

I can taste it, but don’t expect side effects until later. Most common are nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea (up to 44% experience at least one of these, especially at points where the dose is increased), so I waited until I was home and not about to go into the classroom. I have no scheduled activities until Monday.

Awwww.

So buy a weed eater?

Good luck!

Will Ozempic work? i don’t know, but I’ll take a stab at it!

Normally at this time (almost 10:45pm) I would be abed, reading before I fall asleep, but the show I went to started late and I’ve only been home for about 45 minutes…which means I’m spending some time in front of the TV (and iPad, natch) while I unwind enough to feel like going to bed. The show started late because of equipment issues: doors for the 7:00 show were supposed to open at 6:00, but we wound up not being let in until around 7:40 and the show started at 8:00. At one point while we were waiting, though, the artist came outside and offered to take a photo with everyone who was standing in line…so now I have a picture of myself with Lisa Fischer. AND it was a terrific show!

That was one of the many drugs I tried/was on for diabetes, before my surgery. I really liked it: easy to administer and not very painful, weekly vs daily, plus I noticed that it curbed my appetite. I didn’t experience any negative side effects, but I wasn’t on it for very long because my insurance wouldn’t pay for it.

Morning, mumpers! It’s 14c/57f with a predicted high of 15c/59f, and mostly cloudy. Looks accurate to me, there’s plenty of cloudy sky out there. Weather app says “Look on the bright side. It’s only cloudy. You’re not on fire. That’s fucking good, right?” Can’t argue with that, can you?

flyboy I turned your pic around, the trees and greenery are lovely to look at but the water and the sun is so much better! You live in such a beautiful area. This is my patch.

I was up reasonably early today, cats have been fed and medicated, litter trays are clean, I’ve put some fresh colour on my hair, washed and dried it, and had breakfast…all before 8.30am when I reluctantly logged into irk. I’m hoping to finish around 4pm today, that will give me time for some tarting up before I go out tonight. We have tickets for a couple of bands tonight - Massive Wagons and Ugly Kid Joe - at a local venue. It’s about half an hour’s walk from home but I will most likely drive up there tonight as I am not drinking (getting up at 7am on Saturday for the gym) and that means we’ll get home a bit quicker.

Suppose I’d better get on with stuff then…

Good morning. I’m glad it’s Friday. My OTR truck driver husband will be home this weekend.

It’s supposed to be a decent day. Getting up to around 56F. More clouds than sun. Fine with me. I went to get groceries, yesterday. I complained the ENTIRE time that I was out in the sun, because it was so bright! I said some foul things about it, too. My daughter told me that I was being ‘spicy’. She was correct.

I bought a bigarse turkey. 21 pounds. It’s thawing now. I’ll roast it, carve it, pick the bones, freeze it in its own juices, and call it good. It tastes great, even though it has been cooked, and frozen. Sure makes the actual day MUCH easier. We’ll have our Thanksgiving on the 26th. That’ll be when my hubs is home, next time.

Today is going to be a day of cooking, I think. I’ve got roast that stupid turkey, roast a chicken, make a casserole, and make a dessert. The dessert is stupid easy, though. Just an Orange Jell-O thing, with Cool Whip, mandarin oranges, Jell-O, and mini marshmallows . All in all, it should keep me out of trouble. For awhile. We’ll see.

For now, I need more coffee. Have a good day, everyone.

This sounds good to me! Would you be willing to share the recipe?

Yes! I detest the stuff. My husband only wants it a certain way. You CAN put a small box of Vanilla Pudding in it, but, he doesn’t want that. I guess growing up, his family made it like this, and it’s now the way I make it.

1 large box of Orange Jell-O - Make it according to box directions, and chill.
2 C. Mini Marshmallows
1 large can (Or 2 small cans) of Mandarin Oranges - Drained
1 8oz. tub of Cool Whip

  • Break up the Jell-O, dump it in a big bowl, and add the Cool Whip, oranges, and marshmallows.
  • Chill for a few hours.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 72 and probably cloudy all day. We shall have some additional rain due to Nicole this mornin’ and then that should go away. I shall betake myself over to the church house probably this afternoon after the rain is gone to deal with candle duty. Outside of that, the usual sloth and general overall uselessness shall prevail. Sup shall be a variety of leftovers. It will be a heat and eat as the need to feed strikes.

ace accordin’ to That Midwestern Mom that’s called a salad in Minnesota. Glad hubs will be home for a couple of days.

BooFae I have a friend who says she’s goin’ to tart up whenever she puts on makeup. It always makes me laugh when she says that.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

ETA: Happy Veterans Day

Yep. I refuse to call it that. It is vile. It’s not even make properly. The recipe says to put vanilla pudding in it. Hubs doesn’t want it that way. His weird family made it like the recipe I gave Seanette. Of course, for ‘seasonings’, and ‘flavor’, in their cookin’, they used only salt & pepper. Dear Og. Hubs never tasted ‘flavor’ until we were married. THEN he got to see what ‘flavor’ really is. Good grief. :joy:

At what point would the pudding go in?

I’d mix up a batch of instant pudding, and fold it in with the other stuff.

Just to encourage Mumpers - I’m in, so I might just get you and, well, just imagine the possibilities!!!

Good thoughts coming your way! But I really hate their commercials…

If I may be nosy - how much is he gone and how much home?

My MIL calls such things salads also - she’s from Iindianapolis. She makes these dishes with cottage cheese, jello, and some sort of canned-in-syrup fruit, and sometimes with nuts or cool whip, depending. Salad? Um, OK…

OK, if we’re showing where we live, this is the entrance to my neighborhood. - they didn’t turn off the main drag.

SIL invited us to join them for breakfast at IHOP this morning, so we’re waiting till it’s time to go. They don’t have Coke products there - just Pepsi, so I’m having my diet coke now, and I’ll drink tea there. After breakfast, we’ll swing by Aldi so I can get a poke roast that will become pulled poke for the Tobester’s b-day party on the 20th. (His b-day is the 15th, but we’ll have the celebration the following Sunday.)

Then home for a fun day of laundry!! WOOHOO!!! The rain hasn’t started yet, but it’s overcast and from the looks of weather radar, we’ll be seeing it within the hour. Then in a few days, it’ll be dropping below freezing overnight, so I need to bring my spider plants inside and find a place where Taz can’t eat them. Dammit.

But that’s a problem for another day. Today will be about the washer and dryer.

Happy Firday, and Happy Vet’s day to my fellow veterans!

FCM, he’s out for two weeks at a time. He’s only home for about 1 1/2 days. He’ll get home tomorrow, sometime, usually not before noon, or right around noon, anyway. He’ll head out again on Monday morning, usually before 8am. He’s been doing this for the past 30 years. I’m used to it, but, I feel cheated that I don’t get to have him home more often. He’ll be retiring soon, so, we’ll see.

Thanks! I’ll have to give this a shot, with perhaps a substitution or two on flavors, since DH isn’t exactly fond of oranges. Canned pineapple could work, or maybe cherries, with cherry Jello. Hmmm…

My favorite uncle is a retired trucker, so I’m sure my aunt can relate to your situation. Uncle retired within the last few years and as far as I know, she hasn’t strangled him yet, so they’re presumably adjusting to him being home.
