You’re welcome! Raspberry sounds good. Strawberry, too.
That’s cool about your aunt and uncle! Glad to hear that she hasn’t clobbered him, yet!
Good morning everyone.
It’s currently 32 degrees with an expected high of 46 and the possibility of a couple of rain showers later today, but mostly cloudy skies.
So, this is the house that had SUV rammed into the front. I still can’t understand how she managed to do it, because there were no tracks across the front lawn. Additionally, there are now some small bushes in the part of the lawn that shows none by the sidewalk. smashed house
This is my place. Tucked into the cul-de-sac and no cars in the driveway because we keep them garaged. These are old google maps pics for sure. That maple tree is no longer there because I had to cut it down, sadly. The idiots next door to me were killing it off because they kept parking on the sidewalk and were always backed right up to the tree. my cul-de-sac
So, you can see I live in suburbs with neighbors that I loathe on either side of me. I miss having neighbors that I liked.
In good news, my son is coming up today and I will soon be starting some slow cooker split pea soup. He is going to spend the weekend with us. It’ll be broken up a little because we all have to go out to a restaurant tomorrow for my mother’s 85th birthday celebration.
My husband was an OTR truck driver for a few years, and then he switched to being a local driver for the same company. It’s a very large company based in Arkansas. He is no longer a truck driver. But, I well remember those OTR days. He was also a driver trainer for the last part of his tenure OTR, and would be gone for weeks at a time.
I suppose I should finish my coffee and finish off a couple of chores. I hope you all have a terrific day.
I decided not to go to the shop today. Nothing to do over there, I’m waiting on a Lowes delivery of butcher block. And my back hurts.
Stay safe y’all!
Argg, ignore the pic called by cul-de-sac because it does not show my house. I can’t get google maps to show the correct house and for some reason I can’t imbed images here. It took to long for me to try and find a solution and edit, so I didn’t get to delete it in time.
My house is the one with the beige doors and no cars in the driveway.
A few nights ago there were many emergency vehicles down the street. Being the Gladys Kravitz that I am I moseyed down there. The house in question is at the apex of the cul de sac. The through street in front of the cul has stop sign. Apparently a driver had a medical event, went through the stop sign and plowed through the garage. Yikes!
Morning all. Since this seems to be living area share week, here’s my location (but not my house–I’m a little leery of putting that much info on an open site), I live near the trees on the cul-de-sac. Pretty quiet suburban area and been here over 20 years now. Google Maps
Paper retrieved and pill taken. Off-and-On Rain is in the forecast today and tonight, so not much planned and glad I did get all the mowing done yesterday.
VanGo, hope the back feels better. I’ve got an ache too, if I’m bent over in a particular way (often from sitting on the toilet) and try to stand up straight from that bent position, I get a stabbing pain in my right lower back. But it goes away pretty quick; if yours is constant, is there anything you can take?
ace, my dad was an OTR trucker when I was very little, then spent most of my growing years as a dock foreman. When he retired he was at loose ends, he had not developed any hobbies or such and followed Mom around on her shopping and other chores, which about drove here crazy; finally he got a job as crossing guard for the local school and that kept him (and Mom) happy for 7-8 years.
If my salad hasn’t got lettuce and tomatoes among other things, it ain’t a salad. IMHO.
boo fae, enjoy the music.
Oopsie, sounds like the performer knows how to treat her guests. Glad it was a good show to boot.
and automatic fertilizer…
Suzie, hope the injection went well and that there are no side effects.
OK, need to get on with the morning internettin’, a couple of Web posters usually post today so I need to look at their offerings, then think about swimmin’-n-sauna in the early afternoon. Take care all.
Happy Friday!
Happy Veteran’s Day!
Rain, rain, and more rain. A not so bad 57 degrees.
There were still five people and seven dogs at the park.
No Barky and Humpy though.
We have a new GSD, 10 months old, that is coming. Usually, his mom sits up in the corner, but today she came down to join us. Echo had to show her ass a few times to let him know who is Queen Bitch of the park. Ripple chased after him a few times, I’m not sure if he was playing or not, but I never worry about Ripple anyway. The poor new dog tried to play with Lucy, and Lucy wasn’t having it, so when she tried to put him in his place, Echo went after him too.
I told Echo that Lucy does not need her help. Lucy is part Great Pyrenees; she doesn’t need anyone’s help.
Then he and Cerby got into it, but the shepherd started that one. I think it was because he was tense from Lucy and Echo, so when Cerby walked over to him, he was on the defensive.
No blood, no damage, just a lot of noise, and showing of teeth.
It’s funny how some new dogs come into the park and it’s instant friendship. Others come in and the whole dynamic gets out of whack.
Ripple has been channeling Adam all morning.
He walks in front of me, never looks back, and will suddenly stop so that I almost trip over him. Usually, he is beside or behind me, so close that his nose will bump my leg.
I have my first physical therapy appointment today.
I should be upstairs getting ready, but I just don’t want to.
I hope I’m not going to hurt more after it, and I just don’t want to go back out into the rain.
I have to get gas on the way too.
My son got off at 3 this morning, I went back to bed, but I am dragging ass for sure.
He wanted to get groceries today, but it’s raining too hard.
Good news though, the new gutter is installed and there is no water in the basement.
One major problem taken care of.
Good luck on the Ozempic susan!
So your hubby was “Hey JB!” taters ?
Hope that your back feels better soon VanGo.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, bed stripped, a load of sheets / towels in the dryer, a load of jeans in the wash and the rest of the clothes on deck. Fixing to do KP and the Friday house cleaning before going out for groceries.
When I took Nelson out this morning, it was raining hard. Even with his slicker, he didn’t want to be out there (I feel ya buddy cause, unlike a certain little doggy, I have no slicker) and so I wound up getting drenched.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
BooFae, that looks like a nice area. I like all of the little shops. It reminds me of some parts of L.A. This is my old apartment building in L.A. The hedges and tree are new since I moved away almost 19 years ago. My apartment was in the back-left corner, and my parking spot was the second one from the right.
As for the sunshine (up here), the picture of those people’s house and the bay were taken in Summer. At a quarter to seven on 11 November 2022, it’s 37ºF/3ºC, with the possibility of some snow in an hour or two.
Snow will taper off and end this morning but skies will remain cloudy this afternoon. High 46F. Winds light and variable. Chance of snow 90%.
Yep, he sure was. For over 20 years.
I hope your back feels better soon, VanGo.
I have the pea soup started, so I need to take a shower in a bit. I’ll have to load up the corvid feeder with some peanuts too.
I thought I’d linked a slightly different angle, where you could see the parking places in front. Not that it matters now.
So I got up in the middle of the night to wee, and on the way back to bed, I hit the corner of a bookcase with my foot. It hurt so much, I couldn’t even cuss. (Nothing broken; it hit between toes.) I got into bed, turned the lamp, pulled off my sock, and zing! the sock zipped through the air like a slingshot, and I still can’t find it. I’ve looked IN the bedding, below the bed, around the bed, and across the room. Nada.
And I had the funniest dream last night. I was a Washington, DC consultant and was spending the night at the White House. Because there weren’t enough bedrooms, I had to share with President Biden. He was a gentleman and stayed on his side of the bed. The next day (in the dream), I jokingly told a Biden aide I was going to get a tee shirt that said “I slept with Joe,” and she begged me to wait until after 2024.
So weird night. Today I’m making cacciatore because a friend is coming for dinner. I’m also going to hem pants and walk.
We called Jello made with fruit “salad” when I was a kid in Chicago. 9 times out of 10, we’d be almost done eating, when Mom would wail, “I forgot the Jello!” Fine by me, as it seemed more like dessert.
So interesting to see all these domiciles!
VanGo, hope the back heals pronto.
Sari, sounds like an exciting to day at the dog park!
Pic of my house when we moved in, circa August 2004.
The hanging baskets and the birds in the garden were among the first things to go. I sold both table-and-chair sets that are on the porch. The house numbers are gone, the windows are all new, and that front garden is now dominated by azaleas and daylilies. And the lamp post in the far left is long gone. And there’s a bank of forsythia under the two far windows. And the stupid lightning arrestors are off the roof. But other than that, it’s the same! I didn’t feel like looking for a more recent photo.
Back from breakfast - IHOP was insane. But it was a nice bit of family time. Afterwards, I ran into Aldi for some poke that will be pulled, and now we’re home. First of 5 loads in the washer. Apart from laundry, it will be a day of chillage.
Here’s my little rental, taken 2 years ago right after I’d had a bunch of landscaping cleanup done:
My second bedroom/home office is behind the window on the far right (when you’re facing the house), and is usually where I am when I post here. Including right now.
I woke up to pouring rain, and am inordinately proud of myself for putting the big trash can out front anyway (since I forgot to put it out last night). I even checked the trash company’s website to confirm that today’s holiday wouldn’t affect scheduled pickups (we’ll see). I’ve given myself a for random acts of adulting.
In college, I was very involved with the campus radio station: I was a DJ all four years, I became a member of the senior staff as a sophomore, and senior year I was the station manager. I had summer internships at a Baltimore oldies station, and I graduated with a part-time job at that station and the intention of going into radio production. (The station laid me off almost immediately, and I never found another radio job; I’m grateful, though, because I dodged the bullet that would be satellite radio.) My college station recently went from broadcast to internet-only, and the current students are working on a podcast about the station’s history. I’m being interviewed next week, and in preparation I dug out the five cassette tapes I have of my old shows: starting today, I’m listening while I convert them to MP3. I just finished the earliest show, which was the last show I did my freshman year (on 5/5/1990). That was quite a trip down memory lane! Songs from Psychadelic Furs, Midnight Oil, U2, Toad The Wet Sprocket, Anything Box, Del Amitri, Oingo Boingo, The Sundays, Poi Dog Pondering, Adam Ant, They Might Be Giants, Nitzer Ebb, Kate Bush, etc. The backannounces/promos were hysterical; also, I’d forgotten how noticeable my Baltimore accent was back then. Heh. I either didn’t record or no longer have any of my sophomore year shows, but later on I’ll tackle the one show from the end of junior year and three shows from senior year. While I listened I made notes of legal IDs, backannounces, promos, etc. in case that audio might be useful to the podcast project – or, at least, entertaining.
It’s just after noon…lunchtime! I think I’ll do some reading while I eat. I’m taking a break from the series I’m in the middle of to read Matthew Perry’s memoir. I’m not big on celebrity autobiographies, but I was curious about his. I saw and liked him in all of the shows he was in after Friends, and had noticed the significant decline in his acting chops during The Odd Couple (which he addresses); I also wondered if he would comment on his Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip character’s “addicted to pills” storyline (not yet). It’s a pretty quick/easy read, and soon enough I’ll be able to get back to my Québécois police inspector.
First, though, I will take Bailey out back while we seem to be between rain storms…
I am very happy to have no other plans today, and no pending chores (other than eventually bringing the trash can back to my patio). At the moment I’m caught up on laundry, dishes, having clean sheets on the bed, stuff for my volunteer committee, etc. It’s rare to be able to have a completely guilt-free day of sloth…guilt never keeps me from slothing, but I plan to embrace this.
I totally agree about the salad! I’m the same way!
As for hubs being a ‘loose ends’, no. He’s got a guitar thing, and he plays. He’s also got a model rocket thing. He does that, too. He’ll be busy enough, I think. LOL It should keep him somewhat occupied for awhile.
FWIW, Matthew Perry really needed a better editor. I have responses to the content as well, but I don’t think this is the place.
My mouth still tastes off, though anything less than chemo mouth is merely something to notice. GI a little upset. I was hungry for breakfast and satisfied with a plate of raw vegetables, half an avocado, and coffee with oatmilk.
I read online that celebrities and TikTokers are getting Ozembic prescribed off-label for weight loss. leading to shortages for diabetics. Thanks so much.
Thanks for the reminder!!
Depends on the salad.
Last night, we had Trader Joe’s Southwest Chopped Salad. (It did have some lettuce in it.) It was pretty good, but not especially filling. We each had half a bag, so our servings had 16 g of carbohydrates, less 4 g fibre. I’m planning on making cauliflower gnocchi with olive oil, garlic, and sweet Italian sausage, topped with freshly-shaved parm. Unless SWMBO wants to go out. We have a lunch date with Scotticher tomorrow, so we’ll probably eat in.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It is raining.
< cue Interweb tube clog >
< Post! >
So the heaving was short. The cleanup? Oy. They were bringing me crap at 1030, an hour and a half after the package cars left. And I had to stop and pick up the ?“loaner” pair of bifocals, since it’s anther 10 days till my progressive glasses are finally ready.
My place.
If you squint, you can see my car through the bushes. Speaking of which, Carmen is paid off as of today.
Laundry is going, time for NAP!
4 days into retirement:
“Dear, have you considered Uber-ing 12 hours a day?”
I can see that happening.
