Did you guys know that Evil Captor likes bondage? With bonus fuck-off for Miller!

OK…now that’s sick.

The bondage, not so much. I knew EC was into that, but it bothers me more that he is a misguided Leftist. OTOH, what’s the matter with a little Bond-age?

I think perhaps Evil Captor’s attempted hijacks go unnoticed because unlike lekatt’s, or Liberal’s, they don’t usually succeed in completely derailing the thread.

I will say I don’t think it’s overwhelming in his posts, but yeah, the whole, “I watch LIFETIME movies specifically for rape scenes” schtick is kinda creepy. I’m able to ignore it, but I can’t say he wouldn’t give me the collywobbles.

I actually never noticed Evil Captor was a leftist, due to the fact that I pretty much skip anything he posts because I find him fairly “squicky” as well. I don’t give a rat’s ass about bondage, but rape? I don’t see how anyone can defend it.

And while I’m wasting hamster power anyway, did C K Dexter Haven wake up on the wrong side of bed this morning? Someone pits someone else (whether it’s a worthy pitting is open to interpretation), you post that if we have a problem with someone, we should report it. Shortly thereafter featherlou posts a perfectly reasonable question about your post and you responded with so much sarcasm it broke my Professor Frink brand sarcasm detector.

I take it the administration really just hates the BBQ Pit.

And now the truth finally comes out… in short, Excalibre, you’re sufficiently conceited in your own moral righteousness that you feel you’ve got the right to codify someone’s behaviour on behalf of all the rest of us. However, you’re also a political animal - and by extension you’re also aware that you needed to play the numbers game - hence, you attempted to influence public opinion via this Pit Thread.

I like Evil Captor. I’ve enjoyed his posts for many years and he has my utmost respect. I find him to be honest, and forthright, and made of fine character and good wit. Most importantly, he seems like the sort of person who doesn’t need to have the court of Public Opinion “on his side” to have a healthy sense of self esteem.

Most importantly Excalibre - unlike yourself - Evil Captor’s got a shithot sense of humour. Unlike yourself, he’s DEFINITELY not precious. All things considered, this is a pitting which isn’t going at all well.

Neil Gaiman?

Boy howdy, do you ever not have me pegged. I stayed out of the pit thread about your self-righteousness, mostly out of not caring enough to post, but boy howdy was I ever right to write you off.

Hey, if no one else agrees, it does matter, because while this place is not a democracy, if it were to turn out that Evil Captor grosses out a lot of people (apparently we are few and far between), then it would be worth it for him to consider toning it down. Obviously that’s not the case. Which is fine - I’m not so much a “political animal” (man, is that ever the wrong judgment about me! Anyone who’s ever argued with me here has seen that I’m pretty damn unlikely to take on an issue just because it’s popular.) as someone who respects the idea that this place should be best suited to the majority of its users. If that means one person’s behavior needs to change, so be it. In this case, obviously it doesn’t. And once again, so be it.

“Precious”? Seriously, can you find anything to justify that? Just curious, because once again, that’s not an appellation I get very often.

Gosh, I made a joke! A joke to deliberately indicate that I don’t think this is a terribly serious matter. It’s a small annoyance, a matter that creeps me out slightly.

That certainly merits pulling out ol’. God forbid someone say something in anything but the utmost seriousness!

Oh, fuck, that last line wasn’t serious either. I’m never gonna win with you, am I?

I am going to keep mentioning bunny slippers and see if I can get a pit thread about how…fluffy it all is.

Like now. I’ve got to go, now, though. I am putting the slippers in bondage.

Excalibre? What’s your goal right now? Honestly? I ask because, quite frankly, I feel drained after reading your posts… they just seem like SUCH HARD WORK to wade through. So observe the difference between me and you now… I’m just gonna walk away. I’m not gonna start a Pit Thread about you or your style… I’m not gonna get personal and attack you. I’m not gonna play a numbers game or get dragged into your baiting. I’m simply going to do what you should have done long ago regarding Evil Captor (or anyone else in life whose behaviour we can’t change) and that is, I’m just gonna move on. Have a great day. I mean that… seriously.

Wow, you’re into Pansy Division?

I’d like to get back to a point raised in the OP which from a skim of the thread seems not to have been addressed. The Talented Mister Ripley would have been an amazing movie had it featured a Matt Damon/Jude Law rimming scene.

I honestly don’t see why you should win with anyone who likes and enjoys the SDMB. You don’t like the board - you’re constantly complaining about it, or its posters, or its moderation, and reiterating that you will not renew your subscription. There are many people who don’t like aspects of the board, or don’t care for certain posters, or disagree with some moderator actions, but with you it’s a constant refrain. You’re a party pooper. Who needs you?

squickysquickyMEWsquickysquickysquickyMEW…

I’d rather Excalibre didn’t leave. I enjoy his posts. He’s no-nonsense, unsentimental about the board, and has a pretty wicked sense of humor.

collapses in helpless giggles
See? It’s subversive conservatives like you and sil that cause us lefties to go to the dark side. Interjecting all these all these inappropriate posts about kitten squicking. It’s just wrong. And gross.

Wow. Dude, you started by attacking me personally, not the other way around. You decided to start a personal issue between you and me, not me.

Um, wow.

Cite for your claim that I “constantly complain about” the posters here? Or the moderation? You’re right that I’ve had a couple complaints about your moderation recently, but that was your moderation in particular, not the moderation. I chalked up your mistakes in moderation to the fact that you’re new at this, and I guess I assumed that the fact that I’ve disagreed with a couple of your moderatorial decisions wouldn’t necessarily cause you to hold a personal grudge. Apparently, I was wrong about that. The take-home message, I guess, is that This Year’s Model does not like being questioned. Don’t conclude, though, that because you’ve generally not been great at moderating that I have some problem with all the moderators. Up until this moment, I didn’t have anything against any of them. Right now, I’ve only got one.

And yes, I’ve certainly said I won’t renew my subscription. I’ve only said it once or twice though - this is yet another instance of your being unable to discern what’s going on around you. Or perhaps you just said it out of pure mendacity. It is quite obviously not an accurate description of my posting habits, though - my having mentioned that I plan to leave perhaps twice, weeks or months apart, is far from an incessant litany of complaints. My leaving is because I don’t like the business model that decides to charge me money and show me ads. And I said so. Isn’t that the thing to do - vote with my pocketbook? Or am I somehow morally obligated to stay, even though I have a problem with being shown ads? Certainly it can only be a benefit to the SDMB as a business to understand why their customers are leaving, so I don’t see why I should be expected to be silent about it.

I have a favorite word today, which fortunately fits your post. Disingenuous.

Does this mean you won’t find cites for your personal attacks on me? :frowning:

You at least wanna apologize for responding to my self-deprecating remark with “We are so glad we have you to fight the good fights for us. Whatever would we do?”

Exactly. I first noticed it in the Rome threads, [post=6547125]this one[/post] in particular. And then there was this [post=6622760]gem[/post] of a post.

Disingenuous I said, and disingenuous I meant. The word fits your post most precisely and accurately.

How are either of those posts implying a “gleeful seemingly vicarious delight in nonconsensual sex?” The first discussed how a rape scene established the casual brutality of the Roman Empire, the second was responding to someone else’s post describing a curse in that show.
