Dopefest in Toronto, anyone?

Either one works for me (well, except daytime Friday… I’ll be at work until 5ish)

You’re penciled in, now where?

Whichever’s better for Kid_A and Cerowyn… I can get downtown by about 7PM on Friday evening, unless I make special arrangements to leave earlier, but I have all day Saturday.

We still have to decide where?

Personally, my preferences would be Korean Grill House, Terroni and Kubo Radio, in that order.

Buffet in Little India would be nice, but I have a feeling it’s a bit too far off the main track for most folks, as is the Rectory Cafe.

I’d vote out Torito and JKWB if price is an issue, as both are somewhat pricey (plus I know from experience that it’s nearly impossible to get a table at JKWB for a group… actually, make that ANY table).

Yasi’s is super-awesome and I can’t get enough of their brunch, but we’d probably take up half the place since it’s quite teeny tiny. And it’s definitely off the beaten path, as far as transit goes (though that’s what I love about it).

(ETA: I’m still really really flexible. As long as the place has some form of TTC accessibility, has a chair where I can park my bum and isn’t going to charge me $50 for a hot dog, I’m a happy camper)

If we’re having issues with price determinations, at my workplace I can get various gift cards for different restaurants at half-price… so, obviously a $50 card would cost $25. Maybe we can pool up a bunch of them and split the cost…

If this sounds interesting, I’ll post the details from the office tomorrow.

As for dates and times, I’m good from 7pm on pretty much any day. The kids and bathed and sleeping by then, so I can slip out of the house.

I have a horrible feeling there’s something going on for me on the Friday… I need to confirm this.

I’m a little late to this party. Either Friday March 7th or Saturday March 8th works for me. I’ll eat anything but since I just moved to Toronto from Austin, I’d like to suggest a pass on Tex-Mex. I’m not ready to experience a lesser quality than what I am used to, sorry.

Please make sure the restaurant address is included, and a time and I’ll do my darndest to be there.

Why don’t we say 7:30pm on Friday?

What does everyone think about Kubo Radio? It’s not Korean barbecue or a chain restaurant, which should satisfy reefrmad, and it’s [relatively] affordable. And, it’s walking distance from my place. Not that that’s a consideration or anything.

Those plans get a big thumbs-up from me.

Gee, I never knew I was such a problem! I’m a very flexible eater… Though after trying pig brain in sabu-sabu, I won’t be going down that road again… I love Korean food and, in fact, ANY food… I just hate paying for food at restaurant prices and then cooking it. Unless they sell it for $18/kg!

Friday, then? I’ll bail from my other appointment. And Kubo sounds interesting. Although it’s at least as non-central as Little India in terms of travel…

Sounds perfect. I shall be there.

I wish I was still within walking distance of Kubo. Sniff.

Kubo looks tasty!

Now, coming on TTC as I am, is it easier to take a bus south from the Danforth line, or should I take the Queen streetcar?

Depends on where you’re coming in from.

If you can, I’d avoid the Queen streetcar if you wanted to actually make it for dinner.

I would be coming from work, way out at the Kipling end of the Bloor/Danforth line. Really, once one’s that far out, ‘distance’ is kind of moot. I’m just looking for ‘easier’.

Your best bet will be to ride to Pape station and then take the southbound bus to Queen. It’ll drop you off at Queen and Carlaw, which is a short walk away… a couple of blocks or so.

The Queen streetcar isn’t very good for getting cross-town, especially on a Friday night when everyone decides they want to drive down to clubland.

Not to dispute with my learned friends, but the Queen streetcar is actually quite speedy, even at the busiest of times; I take it frequently. It’ll be crowded, but eastbound from Yonge won’t be packed at that time of the evening.

I’ll figure it out, one way or another. And Mnementh has said that although he will probably be late, he’s quite looking forward to coming - I mentioned your name, Cerowyn, and he thinks you’ll barely recognise him.

Well, for one, I imagine he’s old enough to drink by now…

Can I impose on everyone who’s coming to send me a PM? I’ll use that for the count for the reservation, as well as forwarding my cell number to you.

Sunspace, obviously I know you’re coming and you have my number already.

:: embarassed blush ::

I think I may be late… it’s the AGM for something else that night, I have to be there, it’s in Little Somalia, and if I can tear myself away by seven, I think I can get to Kubo by eight. I might be closer to eight thirty.

Bother. And this was my idea too. :: sob ::

[sub]I suppose there’s no way we can do Saturday? [/sub]
