Hmm. Maybe… but probably not. The baby still thinks he’s starving if I haven’t fed him. Not that he won’t eat, just I have to be involved in the process. It limits my socialite behaviour.
Motherhood is good, though. Tiny Ninja Chef is six weeks yesterday.
And a bunch of Dopers sent awesome baby presents. In spite of my Mom’s fear that internet people are all crazy stalkers. If you guys are, you’re really weird stalkers. Or you’re stalking the baby. That would be odd and creepy. Sunspace promised to take the kid to Chuck E Cheese in a few years. Isn’t that nice of him?
Without intending to cause problems for Sunspace, I think Friday is our best bet. If we say 7:30, and order appetizers, he can probably join us in time to order our main course. And, as he doesn’t drink, he won’t be missing out on the sake martinis, either.

Time: 7:30pm, Friday March 7th
Location: Kubo Radio, 894 Queen Street East
I’ve made a reservation for 14 people (because I wanted to be sure that if they couldn’t take us, we knew now!). I used my name, but I’ll leave “SDMB” at the door when we get there so that there’s no confusion. There won’t be any other reservations of that size that night, anyway, so it’s not like you could end up joining the wrong bunch of internet weirdos.
If anyone wants my cell number 'lest things go awry, please PM me.
We’ve been following this thread to figure out where it was going…we may be able to make it from Newmarket that evening…not familiar with the restaurant but will check for website…
As I mentioned up-thread, I’ve had some craziness in my life recently. Part of that resolved itself today as I’m going to be (temporarily) transferred to Waterloo for my job.
On the upside, this solves a major professional problem. On the downside, I don’t know if I’ll be able to make it back for dinner on Friday. Once I get a grip as to what’s going on, I’ll try and confirm either way.
What would be the easiest way for me to get to the restaurant? I will be staying at my sisters next week, which is at Highway 7 and Leslie. Is parking going to be a nightmare around that area? Is there an easy subway/streetcar/bus alternative?
From Highway 7 and Leslie, it’s pretty much a straight shot down the 404/Don Valley Parkway (get off at Richmond Street, bear right on Richmond where it splits with Eastern Avenue, take the first right at Power Street, and then right on Queen to go back over the Don Valley, and drive on to 894 Queen).
There is some parking available on the street, but it’s pretty hit or miss on whether you’re going to be able find a free spot. Just west of the restaurant is a community centre/park that has a small parking lot, although I don’t know the legality of parking there. A block east, there’s a Shopper’s Drug Mart with a parking lot, but again, I’m not sure whether they tag cars that park there too long.
If you’d rather take the transit, your best bet would probably be to drive down to Finch Station (parking is free after 3PM and on weekends), and then take the subway south to Queen Station, transfer to the 501 Queen Street car eastbound, and get off at Logan Avenue. Kubo Radio will be on the north side of the street, a few stores west of Logan.
Any more plans firmed up for or against coming? As it happens, I may not have my kids until Saturday morning, so they may not be there. I’m having lunch with them tomorrow, and I’ll ask them if they want to come then.
If they don’t come, my original estimate (and reservation) of 14 people may be pretty close.
I haven’t had any new PMs for my cell number, so I presume the rest of you are going to wing it.
I’ll give myself one bump to see if there are further comments, since I did post at 3:30 in the morning, guaranteeing that the thread will have sunk to Page 2 by the time many Toronto Dopers get home from work.
Alas, Booker57 has let me know that he can’t make the trek this time, so it looks like it’ll just be GTA folks this time.
I guess that means we can talk about The Plan, after all.
Hmm. If I can get Driving Husband to bring us for a few minutes…
Maybe. He’s supposed to be here playing with the baby on Friday anyway. So, maybe. It would be nice to see everyone.
What, no sign saying “Straight Dope”, that would get everyone arrested for drug dealing?
