Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

Has there ever been a race this close in US history?

Has there ever been a race in which so many states are up in the air like this?

It’s not that close, at least by the votes (you know, the way a normal democracy does it).

I seems to recall an election in 2000 that came down to a few hundred votes in a Southeast state.

I’m relying 100% on Pennsylvania. I’m getting scared.

Not American, but I am so ready for this election to be over. I hope Biden takes it today.

Sure, I was 17 during the 2000 election so I can’t say I was following it too closely. But has the election ever hinged by a razor thin margin in several states at once like this?

Bush won the 2000 election by 537 votes in Florida, after the Supreme Court decided Florida should stop recounting votes.

Is Nevada and Arizona expected to certify today? I thought it’s looking more like late Friday at the soonest.

Supposedly Nevada announces in half an hour.

I’ve been trying (with futility) to follow it less. The last I read was that Georgia is expected within a few hours.

When one man states so eloquently what the rest of us are feeling …

Sigh.

Well, they are supposed to provide an update then; I’m not sure that it’ll be an announcement of final tallies.

I don’t know, Nevada may be too stressed to give an update today. They’ve only taken one day off counting since the election.

Using the total number of outstanding votes and the weighted average of +19 for Biden, I’m coming up with a net gain for Biden of 11,660 votes.

I then plugged everything into Excel, and am coming up with a net gain for Biden of 11,784 votes.

Unfortunately, neither of these figures are enough to overcome an 18K deficit.

Hopefully I’m missing something.

Biden is holding a press conference @ 11 AM ET. Does he know something?

Biden campaign will speak at 11 a.m. ET

From CNN’s Arlette Saenez and Sarah Mucha

Joe Biden’s campaign announced it will be holding a livestreamed press conference at 11 a.m. ET.

Campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon and senior adviser Bob Bauer will provide an update on the state of the race, as votes continue to be counted.
CNN

Is that going on now? (I’m losing track of my time zones.)

That would have been 38 minutes ago.

At least he stayed on message.

Yeah: BBQ, Beer, FreeDumb.

Those leans will be skewed further democrat by the fact that the outstanding ballots are postal votes.

Sooo… it didn’t happen?

ETA: It did.
