Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

That’s a unique way to spell ‘meth.’

BBC just reported on it. Nothing substantial according to the report.

Trump lawsuits are “misinformation campaign” says team Biden

Biden campaign spokesman Jen O’Malley Dillon has just held a briefing with reporters, where she accused the Trump team of “continuing to push a failing strategy” of lawsuits.

I did not see that but I saw a clip (not sure from when it was recorded) of Biden saying he is not claiming victory but he is confident in a victory.

Typical political talk you’d expect from any politician (except Trump).

I know we’re all following the presidential results, but switching gears, is it just me or did Democrats give up some of their 2018 gains in congress and state legislatures as well?

Doesn’t seem like it was an especially good election for the blue team

It wasn’t. And I hate to agree with some of our right wingers here, but apparently the hugely exaggerated claims of civil unrest played a part.

“88% of Trump voters cited the protests over police violence as a factor in their voting decision.”

Apparently the killing of innocent African-Americans should be a perk of the law enforcement community. Perish forbid we should be thinking otherwise.

So - is anyone seeing ANY movement ANYWHERE?

I haven’t been keeping close track, but it does not seem as tho GA/PA/AZ/NV have changed significantly since last night.

I’m all in favor of them being careful and doing it right, but this seems ridiculouser and ridiculouser!

Without actually looking it up, my guess is that number is zero. A de-gerrymandered North Carolina would likely be the closest state fitting that criteria.

It certainly doesn’t seem to have been a blue wave, that’s for sure. Where did all the pissed-off people voting in the 2018 midterms go? There’s even more stuff to be pissed off at the GOP and trump now, such as the failed pandemic response and further stuffing of the Supreme Court with right wing partisans. I don’t understand what happened. People were mad in 2018 but cooled off in 2020?

The Hayes-Tilden election of 1876 was even messier than this one:

Over the last hour I noted Georgia to add about 7K more counted. The split was roughly 5K Biden and 2K Trump.

I guarantee you if it was not that it would have been something else and it would still be 88%…all the way down to Biden’s emails.

good point. People say things to explain what they were going to do anyway.

No. All the Democrats that turned out in 2018 came out in 2020. What it looks like to me is that the Republicans who stayed home in 2018 came out this year.

That +19 lean was from 2016 per Nate Silver. I’d use it as a starting point, but it may be less than the lean we are seeing this cycle.

Any consensus as to the best site(s) for accurate updated info and explanations?

I’ve been going right to AP, and then to NYT and other sites, but feel I’m just using up nervous energy.

Quite a lot of them showed up.

So did quite a lot of their opponents.

Both sides, I believe, broke turnout records.

What, you mean the fact that I haven’t heard a peep about Hunter Biden’s laptop in the past few days means they never actually cared about that in the first place?

9am PST…here we go Nevada!

I think they are as on top of things as any media organization can be.

I have seen the Wall Street Journal giving Biden Arizona in their count but it is the same numbers and they are just making a call…right or wrong.
