That’s what has me more disappointed and disillusioned this year. We can’t blame the outcome on having a bad Democratic candidate. Any other nominee from those who ran in the primary would be in the same spot that Biden is in currently.

Both sides, I believe, broke turnout records.
Biden now holds the record for the most votes given to a candidate in US history (Obama had it before in 2008).
Nevada’s own site: https://silverstateelection.nv.gov/
No update yet.

And I hate to agree with some of our right wingers here, but apparently the hugely exaggerated claims of civil unrest played a part.
“88% of Trump voters cited the protests over police violence as a factor in their voting decision.”
Ingrates. If not for the protests, 88% of Trump supporters would still be demanding Hillary’s emails.
I have NBC on in the background. Just now there was a “BREAKING NEWS” alert…
And it turned out to be a break in a years-old cold case murder. It felt wrong to be angry and frustrated over news that there was a break in an old murder investigation. Does that make me a bad person?
Then, in other news, “still nothing new on the Presidential race…”
BIden about 69,000 votes ahead in AZ, but the latest GA numbers still show a 13,000 vote gap.

Any other nominee from those who ran in the primary would be in the same spot that Biden is in currently.
This, exactly. I would speculate that a certain number of the other primary candidates would have already lost the election.

During football Sunday, Fox kept running a big red BREAKING NEWS scroll about … Drew Brees setting a new record for career touchdown passes. Two days before an election during a global pandemic.
Biden is now up by 12000 in Nevada, not much of an update though.
If Biden increased his margin by 4,000 votes with a small number of ballots, that seems significant.
True, I just thought more votes would be reported.
Yeah, I think they only have mail-in ballots left.
Georgia judge dismisses Trump campaign lawsuit.
A judge in Georgia has dismissed a lawsuit by the state Republican Party and President Donald Trump’s campaign that asked him to ensure a coastal county was following state laws on processing absentee ballots.
Chatham County Superior Court Judge James Bass did not provide an explanation for his decision Thursday at the close of a roughly one-hour hearing. The county includes the heavily Democratic city of Savannah.
The suit had raised concerns about 53 absentee ballots that poll observers said were not part of an original batch of ballots. County elections officials testified that all 53 ballots had been received on time.
Well, it was Clark County. I think there was maybe some concern that the remaining ballots in Clark were GOP-leaning. At least for this batch it didn’t seem to be the case.
Surely Nevada has more to report, right? Or do they need another break?

As I understand it the EC was meant has a kind of check against the whims of the public for a lousy, populist candidate (for all their democratic notions the FFs didn’t really trust the public much). From what I have read the EC pretty much did nothing of the sort within years of the adoption of the constitution. It has never really served its intended function.
Another major reason was that the EC was a way to implement the three fifths compromise. The number of ECVs for a state included the slaves but the voters where only white (and men). Without the EC you’d have to come up with some other scheme.

It wasn’t. And I hate to agree with some of our right wingers here, but apparently the hugely exaggerated claims of civil unrest played a part.

I had to tell my non-Trumpie mother a few weeks ago that Portland had not, in fact, been burned to the ground by protesters.
Speaking of needing a break. Allegheny County (which contains Pittsburgh) has about 35k votes left to count. They will not count any today to attend to administrative work.

WHAT???
Planning the departmental Thanksgiving dinner?
Insane. Gotta get those TPS reports out in time, ya know? Nothing could possibly be more important.
ETA: This was a joke response, but it’s actually a pretty damn serious issue. Leaving these votes outstanding just gives time for conspiracies to spread. The longer between when they are received and counted has the same effect. If we are going to continue to allow large numbers of mail-in votes (which we should) a better system for counting and releasing data has to be implemented. This is just feeding the monster.

Not that I don’t believe you, but where did you get this nugget of info?
