Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

I’ve seen speculation that PA will see Biden pass Trump around 4-6a tomorrow (11/6) assuming the current trends hold.

Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s over yet. Not this time. Recounts and legal battles will definitely move to the front.

Thanks again for that spreadsheet, really enjoyable!

As 0f 10:30 Central time, NBC’s electoral map shows Biden leading by 24K in PA and 2K in GA. Almost there…

Don’t use the Star Wars picture I used earlier. It may be bad mojo.

Thanks for backing me up, but I don’t hold it against JaneDoe42-- with all the content in this thread, a few abbreviations help to scan through it all better. And when I didn’t understand and asked, I got answers right away. Saul good, man.

That’s ridiculous. 270 - 268 could happen, and so could 269 - 269. How often are both of those realistically possible in a presidential election?

Besides, no matter what the EV score is a faithless elector would be a huge deal and it’s still legal for that to happen. That’s big. Especially with this president.

I believe you posted upthread that a SCOTUS decision made FE impossible. I don’t think that’s true. Neither does Whack-a-Mole apparenly. This is pertinent stuff. Really, I’m surprised there isn’t more discussion about it. This ain’t the 1950’s (or even the 2010s) and anything could happen when you have an obvious criminal as POTUS.

Don’t those goalposts get heavy after a while?

I think I like you a lot. I agree, everyone needs to remember what staying up for a few days while refreshing the comp does to someone’s mind. I know I’m probably not as rational as I could be.

(Maybe its because I’ve also been trashed since Tuesday, but at least our habits include eating and showering. We stocked up with the necessary intoxicants last week, so I think we can last until Monday.)

It occurs to me that if The Idiot in Chief hadn’t been so stupidly stubborn about mail-in ballots, he could have walked away with the election. He has no long-term thought process at all.

If they are such very rural and conservative counties, how could Biden win 65-70% of the vote there? That sounds not quite right.

Er, Biden is trailing PA by 24k, not leading.

According to Google/AP, difference in Georgia is 1,775 to Trump. Difference is continuing to shrink.

Hey, CNN, MSNBC

It’s been two full days and nights. There aren’t that many EV paths for either candidate. Please Please Please stop the endless segments were you outline every possible distribution of the remaining electoral votes like it’s some sort of revelation. I know that if Biden gets PA he wins but if he only gets GA he ties. I know what happens if Biden gets AZ and NV.
I know you’ve got airtime to fill, but we know this. You’ve talked about little else for the past 48 hours and it’s just not that freaking hard. Please step away from the map.

Edit: Discourse makes this a little unclear, but I’m quoting the WAPO news that kenobi_65 was quoting, not kenobi_65’s own words.

Well that settles that, Trump definitely has kompromat on Graham. Graham was one of the big never-Trumpers early on, correctly calling him a madman, and then suddenly became Trump’s biggest cheerleader after the election. That left two possibilities: either he just sees which way the wind is blowing and is purely opportunistic and attaches himself to Trump, or Trump has blackmail material.

Given that the rest of the GOP is distancing themselves from Trump now, if Graham were perfectly opportunistic, he’d be the fastest republican to drop Trump. The fact that he’s one of the only ones actually sticking his neck out for him suggests that it’s not merely opportunism and following where the wind blows, but that Trump can actively pull his strings.

No. That’s wrong. This is very on topic in this scary election with a scary criminal running. Plus it’s really interesting! If a faithless elector would every really happen it’s in this most fucked-up of elections.

They also have large Native American populations that are going heavily for Biden, which is what we were discussing. ( I know it’s a fast moving thread and stuff gets buried)

It’s really spooky to me that if he ever showed a modicum of a redeeming factor, I mean if he even EVER ONCE did a SINGLE THING out of actual kindness, how unstoppable he could have been.

What scares me more, tho, is that I think the record-shattering number of people who voted for him did so because they are infatuated with how malicious he is.

They are getting on my nerves. Nothing changes very often. There are other things happening in the world, cover those until something changes.

He didn’t win 65-70% of the vote, he won 65-70% of the mail-in vote. Given that Trump encouraged his supporters not to vote by mail, I don’t see why this is surprising.

I’m reading/hearing that A LOT that people who couldn’t stomach Trump voted for Biden but also voted red down-ticket to keep things awful for everyone.
