Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

It’s almost 100% certain to go to a recount. And there will be up to 15,000 overseas and military ballots to be counted. So it won’t be called, but I think PA might be called soon after Biden takes the lead.

Any of AZ, GA, NC, NV, PA could still go either way.

There’s no question that PA will go to Biden. He’ll win it by 85k votes.

Montgomery County PA went for Biden. Those rich bastards surprised me. I guess I’ve been hasty in judging them.

17,529 overseas and military ballots already counted. There could be another 8,899; they have until sometime today. This according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Ah thanks

Nevada, too.

Yesterday morning, I explained in an FB post that Biden’s chances at that point were about:

98% in Nevada
80% in Pennsylvania
65% in Arizona
55% in Georgia

Now, I think they’re more like:
98% in Nevada
95% in Pennsylvania
70% in Arizona
52% in Georgia

Biden just took the lead in Georgia.

Biden takes the lead in Georgia

Democratic hopeful Joe Biden has taken the lead in Georgia over President Trump.

Trump cannot afford to lose Georgia’s 16 electoral votes if he is to keep alive his hopes of a second term.

Trump cannot find a route to 270 electoral votes without Georgia and Pennsylvania, so his chances of securing reelection will hinge on developments in the two states.

If Biden holds Arizona and Nevada, that’s a ballgame. Georgia is just gravy/insurance.

What a lovely thing to click on the map and see Georgia in blue. I just hope that the trend continues in Georgia and Pennsylvania. It would be so sweet if Biden not only took back the three midwestern “blue wall” states but also flipped Georgia and Arizona. That would also give him enough of an electoral cushion to not worry about faithless electors.

Arizona is a bit iffy, but Pennsylvania is pretty much a lock. I explained it this just now on FB:

I realize Biden just now overtook Trump in the Georgia count…but Trump could regain his lead after they count the military write-in (absentee) ballots. (Though it would be awesome if Trump’s pathetic disdain toward soldiers sunk him in the end).

But none of this really matters. Trump WILL win PA and NV, and be president on January 20. Yay!!!

What drama. A disappointment in many ways for decent people — Repubs keep the Senate; horrifying millions still voted for the fascist imbecile — BUT let’s not lose sight of the fact that TRUMP IS FINALLY GONE!!!

You mean Biden will win in PA and NV, right?

Either that or being totally sarcasmic.

Yes! Lack of sleep. A Facebook friend caught my error there just now — FB’s edit window is “forever”.

I chalk it up to lack of sleep, plus the euphoria and horrified disappointment fighting it out in my brain.

Thurmond and Byrd were Senate Presidents Pro Tempore.
From the Senate history website:

From January 3 to January 20, 2001, with the Senate divided evenly between the two parties, the Democrats held the majority due to the deciding vote of outgoing Democratic Vice President Al Gore. Senator Thomas A. Daschle served as majority leader at that time. Beginning on January 20, 2001, Republican Vice President Richard Cheney held the deciding vote, giving the majority to the Republicans. Senator Trent Lott resumed his position as majority leader on that date. On May 24, 2001, Senator James Jeffords of Vermont announced his switch from Republican to Independent status, effective June 6, 2001. He announced that he would caucus with the Democrats, giving the party a one-seat advantage and changing control of the Senate back to the Democrats. Thomas A. Daschle again became majority leader on June 6, 2001.

Did you just invent a new word — a portmanteau of “sarcastic” and “orgasmic”? Anyway, I love it!

Puts a new spin on the school scene painted by Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall, Part II”…

I cheered out loud. DH was not happy. He was still asleep. I mean, I really cheered. And I’m watching the news. I never watch TV news, let alone morning news.

Morning news? Hell, I’m still up from last night, and enjoying a whiskey.

Shit! I’m wasted on adrenaline from online work. Still nothing? Well, whatever the outcome on these states won’t be the final outcome-- or some orange people think. Either way, I’m still picking AK, PA and NC for Trump. Biden better get moving, or at least his vote counts better.

Biden is ahead in Georgia. I think I can breathe a little easier now.
