I’m not sure what you are arguing about. I said in the post prior to the one you just quoted:
Unless the election is super-duper close a recount is unlikely to change much. Georgia may be super close. The rest do not seem close enough.

Sorry — we must be talking past each other! All good.
Why? Do you believe there were Trump voters who would have done mail-in votes, but listened to him when he said to vote in person, and then on election day decided not to go to the polling station?
Yes! I’ve been wondering whether her organizing model could be imitated to good effect in North Carolina.
One thing people seem to be forgetting is that this year, Democrats made a deliberate decision to foregoa lot of extremely effective organizing tools such as door-to-door canvassing, in order to protect public health. Republicans used these tools. Democrats might pay the price for their decision–but we’ll all pay the price for the Republican decision.
Next cycle, I expect Dems to be using all the tools on the table.
I hate to admit it, but Mitch McConnell is a straight-up badass.
Georgia is like other southern states - really blue big cities/areas and everything else really red. Same is true here in NC . It also happens in other areas like Penn
If by that you mean McConnell is bad and an ass then I completely agree.
What? McConnel isn’t anything special as a politician, he just lives in one of the worst states in the country who will continue to vote for him no matter what, that’s his real power, not any sort of super political savvy on his part. He’s only the majority leader because he’s so safe - it means he can be the fall guy and be a total shitbag and have all the hate directed at him, but he just implements whatever policy any other republican majority leader would do.
That, too.
I don’t know…it seems like his opponent (forget her name at the moment) seemed to have real problems connecting with all Dem constituencies. Not sure what the deal was but it seemed like part of the general issue with the Dem party itself being somewhat polarized.
If there’s a takeaway from the entire 2020 cycle, I hope it’s that scoring points on twitter doesn’t mean shit at the ballot box. Followers, retweets != votes.
Kentucky actually isn’t nearly as deep red as people would believe. It has a Democratic governor, which is something you don’t see in most of the Deep South. If you want to see how winnable a state is, start with the governor’s mansion. That’ll tell you a lot about how deeply red or blue a state is.
Don’t be surprised if, under the right circumstances and with the right slate of candidates, Massachusetts becomes redder. Once you establish a beachhead in the governor’s mansion, the party is no longer safe one color or the other
For those of you wondering about the slowness of counting in Philly, apparently counting was paused for two hours yesterday while one of the Trump lawsuits was being heard. Result of the lawsuit was that the observers (both Trump and Biden) would be allowed to watch from 6 feet away instead of at the further distance they had been restricted to. Because of space constraints, a bunch of counting machines had to be taken offline in order to make room for the observers. Cut vote counting rate in half.
I believe the NYT needle showed Biden with an edge in Georgia on Tuesday night a really impressive piece of prognostication.
I am honestly getting the sense that a lot of people here have been a lot more nervous than they needed to be. Biden’s been in control of the race and on path to win PA since Wed night if not earlier.
Dems have to figure out a way to fix this in the future. Just like Republicans can’t survive as a shitkicker party, the Dems can’t be a party of densely populated cities.
Good info, thank you.
Where did you see or hear this?
Semi-paywalled (free access up to a limited number of articles).
If the Dems can really start a US manufacturing industry for Solar & Wind, that would be a great start for winning back labor. Though they of course have to do more than that.
Biden leads in PA!!!
Woot! Biden up by almost 6k.
Big question for networks is: do they call PA right now or do they wait?
All caused by the (Republican controlled) PA legislature refusing to allow mail-in ballot processing to begin earlier than the poll opening time on election day.
