Realistically I don’t see how this works. So many red states are hostages to extractive capitalist industries that need to change or go (factory farms, mining, fracking, etc). They are both indifferent and ignorant to what happens outside of that bubble. They don’t care about racial justice, they are hostile to climate concerns, their relationship to science is thin and mistrusting.
I’m not saying we ignore these people, but we can never rely on them to jump on board with big ideas. They’re not gonna listen to your awesome green deal until you show up at their door with a hardhat and a timecard ready to clock in to a decent green job, with no effort or retooling on their part.
