Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

It’s ok. What you believed before you were a critically thinking adult isn’t worth much anyways.

I am part of the conspiracy to get rid of Trump. I voted.

I have seen it speculated that this is why the republican party and other republicans are being pretty quiet and not joining Trump in saying the elections were fraudulent. While they may lose the presidency they otherwise did pretty good. This is a redistricting year coming and they will mostly control that. They will almost certainly keep the senate. They gained seats in the House.

Overall, republicans as a whole aren’t that unhappy about the election (and, I would be willing to bet, many are privately happy Trump is out).

My thought was always … that Trump wanted to put D ballots into the filthy hands of Postmaster General, DeJoy and his Postal Glacier Machine.

Like warning the four children that he does like not to go into ‘that building’ … the one that he has ordered a bomb to be dropped on.

Are the “8,899 absentee ballots from military and overseas voters that hadn’t yet been returned to election offices in Georgia as of Thursday morning” absentee ballots that were sent out and haven’t been sent back, but may come in late but postmarked on time? Or are they ballots that have been received, but set aside pending some determination on their validity? If it’s the former, then it’s a yawn issue. I read the posts from akwally1 and Ann_Hedonia as being the latter.

Interesting, from Trump’s favorite NYT reporter:

Okay, let’s all move to Georgia real quick.

I went on trump’s twitter feed just now for s#1+s & giggles. Of the dozen or so most recent tweets, literally every other one is blocked. I hope a ban is coming soon, I would love that.

I imagine he’s getting banned on January 20th at 12:01 PM.

Did anyone catch this Colbert clip?

CNN just reporting that Foxnews has told staff that it should not use the term “president elect” for Biden even after it is called.

Hah! I’ve been using the term for the past few days.

Nah, let him continue to make a fool of himself.

I’d like to reiterate that Democrats should not be feeling upset. Not satisfied or content – there’s still a lot of work to do, but happy and excited. It wasn’t as big a win as we’d hoped, but this was still a big win. The presidential margin is probably going to be pretty significant – in popular vote, possibly larger than 2012, and in electoral vote, probably over 300 votes. And the Senate isn’t out of reach – they’re still counting in Alaska (unlikely but not impossible) and the GA runoffs could decide control. And we kept the House! I know that was expected, but it’s still significant.

Trump’s presidency is ending. That was the number 1 goal, and it wasn’t a sure thing. Biden did it. And very notably, he did it against perhaps the highest Republican turnout in decades.

I won’t relax entirely until then. And I’m certainly going to be antsy during the Georgia senatorial elections, thin though the chances are. But I’m feeling a whole hell of a lot better this morning.

I’ve had this running through my head for about a day and a half now, and although the number that goes in there still isn’t certain, I’m going to see if I can get it into somebody else’s:

Three states over the line, sweet Biden
Three states over the line.
Look at the man from the railroad station
Three states over the line!

(apologies to Brewer & Shipley)

I admit the Georgia senate odds are thin. But there’s a wild card there. Donald Trump outside the GOP tent, pissing into it for the next few months.

The problem with that is, he makes a fool of himself to rational people, but trumpers happily keep eating the shit he keeps on shoveling. I’ll say it again-- trumpism needs to be consigned to the dustbin of history.

Conservative boards are melting down. I guess it’s time to put the MAGA flags to half-mast.

From the comment feed on the NYT live election results board:

Katie Glueck, in Wilmington, Del. 4m ago

A Biden spokesman says that if Biden wins and Trump refuses to concede, “The United States government is perfectly capable of escorting trespassers out of the White House.”

I am really enjoying this day.
