Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

In my experience, and as you should infer from this election, skepticism is more often taught than stumbled upon by chance.

It reminds of someone complaining about military wives (on the base) with bumper stickers reading “you will address me by my husband’s rank”. (Military) people were saying those seem to be the Karen’s of the base and don’t understand that they didn’t earn that title.

Edit: Apparently there’s a term “military dependa” that essentially means (slang) someone that is under the impression that they’re entitled to everything their military spouse is.

So Georgia looks like 1579 in favor of Biden currently.

If I am a high-ranking member in the Pentagon, I am watching that fucker like a hawk. Has the CIA ever bugged the White House? lol

Indeed. In my case I can identify exactly what taught it to me – a freshman philosophy class that challenged my views for the first time and forced me to think about things I was uncomfortable with.

The exact moment I became a liberal is harder to quantify, but it happened shortly after I finished my Stats minor, and used the new tools I had learned to critically analyze my prior opinions.

Latest from Nate Silver:

Just got a batch of ballots in Arizona that will be disappointing for Trump. Trump wins by just 6 points in Maricopa County, out of almost 62,000 votes. He needed to win them by more like 20 points. Big news. I think Biden is the clear favorite in Arizona now.

Believe me, we’ve had conversations along those lines a million times.

Decision Desk HQ has called it … for J’Biden:

For what it is worth, first and foremost the Military & the Secret Service itself are sworn to

support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

Thinking about the senate, did it ever come out what exactly was going on with McConnell’s health?

This is why I think education needs to be drastically reformed. Teach kids HOW to think (no, conservatives, not WHAT to think) so they can approach all aspects of life critically. Americans’ critical thinking skills are terrible, it seems to me.

I hope one of those aides secretly puts his phone on voice memo before the ‘intervention’ and leaks it

Vox.com is also all in for Ol’ Joe … FWIW:

He had no comment aside from ‘it’s nothing’ and the story died.

Probably being kept private because it’s not that serious. There may be some leaks but it will be difficult to confirm anything unless it comes from Mitch.

I still can’t believe people are taking this fraud bullshit seriously. They fundamentally don’t understand how election law works.

We can know that the Republicans have conceded later today when they start talking about fiscal responsibility and the importance of deficits.

A little while ago.

Everyone else is just wimping out now.

I’m especially wondering why the Fox decision desk hasn’t called PA. They called AZ a couple of days ago and, as such, haven’t even been covering the vote count in that state* but they won’t call PA?

*Votes are still being counted in lots of places, including NY and CA, it’s just that the margins are so overwhelming it’s not a real contest. But it’s still weird to flip to Fox and see them not covering AZ at all, since it’s such a nail-biters on the other networks.

He even pulled a ‘trump’ and said to the reporter who asked, “how’s your health?”

Trumpism relies heavily on people not understanding how a lot of things work. What’s so depressing is how they can consistently rely on it.
