Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

I’m a sailor so I’m rarely at a loss for colorful language. But I have to admit that Melanie has challenged my vocabulary for vituperative expression of loathing.

They have a vested interest in delaying the inevitable:

Because it would put Biden over 270, obviously…

CNN hasn’t called either one, to be fair.

It’s not like network calls actually matter. The vote will come out, and the results will be what they are.

What does matter is Trump not conceding, but that should have been expected regardless of the results.

I hope that it’s not just the story that…I can’t finish that though without breaking a rule, I think.

But if McConnell, like a miracle, just disappears, then the Democratic governor of Kentucky appoints the replacement.

Two things I’d like to help DJT supporters see clearly:

  • When Trump said that he, “could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and wouldn’t lose voters,” and that he “love[s] the poorly educated,” he wasn’t paying them a compliment. He was calling them Useful Idiots, and

  • (applicable to both sides, but not equally) Just because you like it doesn’t mean it’s true. Conversely, just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it isn’t true.

I just went to foxnews.com. The headline:

RECOUNT, LAWSUITS GALORE
Tight races in critical battlegrounds heighten scrutiny; latest results in undeclared states here

So reading that, it sounds like trump still has a chance.

NOT!

Could it really be that after 74 years of preferential treatment, Donald J. Trump is finally going to face a consequence? I’ll only fully believe it when I see Joe Biden with his hand on the bible, grinning at John Roberts.

The two counties with a significant Native American population – percentage wise – are Apache (72%) and Navajo (48%). Apache is solidly blue, more blue than Maricopa (dammit!). The other 48% in Navajo county are almost all LDS. 'Nuff said.

The other counties all are about 25% or less – sometimes way less – NA and overwhelmed by Anglos, even if they are all voting Biden.

Hey, Arizona picked up a Senate seat according to NBC.

My point is that while I get it that no one wants to first to make that call, the Fox News election desk is usually pretty ballsy.
Arizona was a controversial call and they haven’t walked it back.

They have a reputation for making early calls, even for Democrats. I think they were the first to call Obama’s win in 2012. I actually expect them to call before CNN and MSNBC.

This will be interesting. I will not be surprised one bit if Trump never concedes personally. Some other minion (McEnany?) will have to make a public statement.

Let them drag him kicking and screaming out of office.

Yeah, I was wondering what the replacement rule is. It would certainly be … ironic … if there were a 51-49 senate and then a Democratic governor was in charge of a replacement.

Fox “News” is positioning itself to be the ongoing loud opposition to Biden and Democrats for the foreseeable future. They will continue to generally exploit Trumpism, only without the Trump, for their own long-term purposes. They, along with Republicans in general, intend to delegitimize Biden and hope to increase their power in the 2022 mid-term election.

We should not minimize just how poorly Dems did in the rest of this election. We lost seats in the House. We are still stuck with McConnell and his majority unless we can take those 2 Georgia Senate seats – and we’d better fight like hell to do that. If we don’t, Biden can accomplish virtually nothing in the next 2 years. McConnell is counting on it. My guess is he’s perfectly happy to be rid of Trump, who has well served McConnell’s long-term goals but is just in the way now.

Yup; Mark Kelly had been clearly ahead of Martha McSally for days, but that last chunk of ballots which were just announced apparently made the outcome clear to NBC’s decision desk.

Could I ask that he have the Saddam Hussein ‘spider hole’ look, affect, and wardrobe when they do ??

Also a no-fly zone has been put in place over Biden’s house.

[insert favorite Mike Pence at the debate joke here]

That explains something I was wondering, which is why the county that contains Colorado City wasn’t way redder than it was. I checked that specifically long before this conversation ( I have a long running interest in cults, and cults love Trump ) and was surprised it wasn’t 80% + Trump, but at that time I didn’t realize there was an large NA population that pulled it the other way.

Not sure about other states, but in AZ there is a law that requires the governor to appoint a replacement from the same party as the one being replaced.
