This is NOT the analogy that should be used for Georgia… yes, it still hurts.
The fact the SC refused to dismiss the possibility they could invalidate the votes - they only said at the time they would not do it then - suggests they were strongly considering it. They ARE Republicans, after all. However, if the number won’t matter, there’s no point in them sticking their necks out.
At least the Falcons GOT to the Super Bowl, unlike our Lions
That’s right — I knew there were some more twists and turns that I remembered!
The FAA is ready for Biden’s victory speech, potentially.
Just saw this while looking for when Biden is expected to address the country.
Briefing report on the two men in the Hummer with guns who were arrested last night. Weapons charges likely. Qanon paraphernalia noted. AR-15-style weapon (homemade), ammo. Believed to be acting on their own.
Linked within that article about Clayton County:
Yes, it was a clear signal. Luckily, it was clear enough that voters in PA were told not to chance it, and to hand deliver their ballots by election day rather than risking mail delivery. So that might have helped keep the number small.
I’m 300-some posts behind on reading this thread so it’s probably been answered already …
It has indeed been discussed on this board and elsewhere that McC plans to “go back to doing what he does best” which is obstruct, obstruct, obstruct, including Biden’s appointments, including his cabinet picks.
The response I like the most, which I saw on this board, is that the President no longer needs Senate approval to appoint people, including his cabinet. Trump has established that. Biden can run his whole administration with “acting” appointments.
ETA: McC is saying that he is willing to work with Biden on choosing cabinet and other appointments. He says he will accept reasonably center-left appointments but will block all the flaming radical far-leftist socialist picks that Biden might wish. For McC’s definition of flaming radical far-leftist socialist of course, which probably means anything left of Rush Limbaugh.
He needs a haircut too. But for Kornacki he’s well groomed and dressed.
Anyone remember his Saturday morning game show on MSNBC, Up Against the Clock?
So when attempts to invalidate votes and recounts fail to change the fact that trump lost, are Elector tampering attempts next? I imagine this would not work for a variety of reasons, but the fact these ideas are being batted around is batshit crazy. This is tweet by Mark R. Levin, conservative radio host, retweeted by Donald Trump Jr.:
REMINDER TO THE REPUBLICAN STATE LEGISLATURES, YOU HAVE THE FINAL SAY OVER THE CHOOSING OF ELECTORS, NOT ANY BOARD OF ELECTIONS, SECRETARY OF STATE, GOVERNOR, OR EVEN COURT. YOU HAVE THE FINAL SAY – ARTICLE II OF THE FED CONSTITUTION. SO, GET READY TO DO YOUR CONSTITUTIONAL DUTY
I assume weapons charges are what they are being held on, with some kind of serious attempt or conspiracy charges pending.
A friend told me he was watching The Godfather 2 to escape the barrage of election-related news on TV.
I noted that one was about an aging criminal facing his inevitable loss of power, and the other is a movie.
Guns and ammo will be flying off shelves now. Even more than when the pandemic hit. We have a local gun show soon and I will go to see how packed it is.
Crazy, but no crazier on its face than the reams of Dems who were calling for electors to be faithless in 2016 and “reminding” them that the founding fathers wanted them to prevent despots from being elected or something (what makes it crazier is that it’s coming from R’s in power this time, but the sentiment itself isn’t much different).
Oh, snap!
The Trump unity float guy was arrested this morning on outstanding Warrants, and the float was towed and impounded.
Calling for electors to be faithless may be crazy, but calling for existing electors to be replaced with trump-friendly electors with the specific purpose of throwing the election is a mite crazier, I’d say.
Biden presumably wants to go back to having a respect for our democratic institutions, checks and balances, and the rule of law. Any act that he does with the justification that, “well Trump did it that way,” will have a whole lot of people wanting their votes back, and will help cement the damage Trump did to our democracy.
Biden needs to make his appointments. I agree he should appoint acting heads pending confirmation of his appointments. If the appointments don’t move, make it a issue in the midterms. But having an opposition party senate, assuming that’s the outcome, does have consequences. They suck, and that’s why we wanted to take the senate.
