I’ve thought a lot today about the famous paraphrase of St. Augustine: “Lord, make me pure, but not yet.”
I’m all for taking the high road, but I’m definitely going to enjoy watching the deplorables squirm for a few days.
I’m a white woman with a lot of white woman friends, and we all loath Trump. But I live in CA, so maybe that has something to do with it? But I don’t understand it at all.

The USA has borrowed a bunch of names from other places, but sadly I couldn’t find Timbuktu among the list. No smart ass comment will ensue.
I do think that some amount of gloating and celebration is allowed no matter who wins. I’m happily surprised to see that there hasn’t been any of the expected rioting happening yet. I think the long wait for results has worn the edge off the threat.

From the beginning, I’ve taken a lot of comfort from reports of how Trump himself was acting. If he, at any time, had shown any of his usual arrogance and spiteful glee, I would’ve been more concerned. But he never did, not even early in the count when liberals were despairing here. Even when he or his allies did bluster, it felt kind of hollow and half hearted, as if they didn’t believe it themselves. I was more at ease than I would’ve been otherwise given that, especially with how infamous Trump’s circle is for being yes men.

Well, he’s not wrong, I guess.
Because this is the Election follow-along thread (putting “Election Day” in the title was a bit hopeful), I’ll provide an update for Arizona.
If President Elect Biden wins Arizona he can afford to lose GA and make all those legal challenges in PA totally pointless (or force Trump to mount more challenges in AZ).
P.E. Biden holds a 21,188 lead with c.118,000 ballots left to count. Trump needs to win at least 59% of the remaining votes to overtake. If Trump wins less than 58.5% then I think Biden would also avoid the recount.
The largest county, Maricopa, is yet to release provisional ballots and others that are taking longer to count (maybe 40k or so?); but Pima County, the second largest county in the state, has still got 25k votes yet to count, and there are at least another 8k votes from Apache County. Both have so far voted 68% for P.E. Biden although they may have already counted their postal votes.

A figure of 52% was thrown around after 2016, but it probably wasn’t true. Exit polls are pretty unrelliable.
But it’s confusing why even 1% of any given demographic would vote for Trump.

I’m thinking some is a variation of this, in that plenty are aware of how bad he is but can’t seem to pull away.
Well, I’m out of ideas. My goodwill has dwindled to nothing. I am tired. Maybe there’s hope I will recover my previous sense of identity as a person who cares what everyone thinks, but I am not that person today.
