My understanding was that the North and South, roughly speaking, had the same populations, but almost a third of the southern population were slaves.
Madison certainly seemed to believe that the EC was a way to address the fact that there were far more voters in the North (because far more people were allowed to vote). So Virginia could let a much smaller portion of their population vote but still have the same clout as if everybody voted (well, all the whites + 3/5 of the slaves)

Add to this list of comical failure in court the postal worker in PA who submitted a sworn affidavit that he witnessed tampering. Various Republicans, including Lindsey Graham, were touting this as PROOF POSITVE of shenanigans. And yet…now he has recanted.
He didn’t witness jack shit. I suspect this will be the case in 100% of such cases.

Looks like Biden’s lead in Georgia has now exceeded his lead in Arizona. If WaPo’s numbers are right GA has crept up to 14,149, while AZ has drifted down to 13,510.
Go figure - I would never have guessed that Arizona would end up being more of a nail-biter than Georgia in 2020. But Biden is for sure taking the bigger of the two and both are pickups either way.
www.arizona.vote showing 19k ballots “ready for tabulation” in Maricopa County, 15k provisionals outstanding in Pima and 8k provisionals in Maricopa. 7.5k provisionals spread over 5 other counties. Plus 4k “early ballots waiting for signature verification” mostly in Maricopa and Pima.
Once those 19k ballots “ready for tabulation” are reported we’ll have a better idea if Biden will hang on.
Arizona is important to everyone (not just Arizonans like me) because if the calls of Arizona for Biden end up being wrong that just gives more impetus to the Trumpists, particularly the ones who showed up at Maricopa County election center armed and chanting “count the vote”. They will think they reversed the “election theft” in Arizona and will likely inspire similar groups in other states.

Ballot curing deadline in Maricopa (and most other counties) has passed (5:00PM MST today). The 4k ballots “waiting for signature verification” will be settled one way or the other.
ETA: Provisional ballots cast because of missing ID also needed to be settled by 5:00PM.

Even if true, by definition any ballots affected would have been received after election day and in the sequestered votes which haven’t been included in the current totals.
John Roberts has heard just about enough of Obamacare for one lifetime… His message to the many parties represented at the court on Tuesday was essentially: Just stop.
Stop asking the justices to do the work of Congress. Stop pulling the court into the partisan fracas. And perhaps especially, stop forcing this chief justice to return to the days when, as Roberts said Tuesday, “we spent all that time talking about broccoli.”
