He can’t go straight to the Supreme Court. He has to get a decision from a lower court that he can try to appeal.
Most of his cases so far have been turfed at the first level by the trial judges because the facts just aren’t there to support the challenge.
Supreme Court doesn’t do facts.
Plus, the Supreme Court doesn’t get involved unless the case is likley to have meaning. If a case comes up in, say, Pennsylvania, where there may actually be a legal issue, but at most only 2,000 ballots will be affected by that legal issue, the Supreme Court won’t take it because 2,000 ballots won’t affect the result.
Everything so far has been pretty pennyante, not likely to flip one state, let alone the 3 or 4 Trump would need.
At this point, nobody really knows what the true odds of staying in office are – they seem remote, but then again, we’re dealing with someone who is giving a huge middle finger and crotch grab to democracy, and he has a frighteningly high level of cooperation and encouragement to keep doing just that. So we don’t really know where this ends. We expect it to end on January 20, 2021, but who knows…
There are really no guarantees here. The way the system should work, the way we expect it to work, is not necessarily the way things actually work. I’m not predicting a coup, but we’re in territory we’ve never ventured into here. Anyone who pretends to know what will happens next isn’t paying attention to what’s happening.
I have no idea what he was trying to accomplish. It seems to largely be an exercise in holding up a bunch of affidavits (some from already-dismissed cases) to attempt to convince the media that there is evidence of fraud. Which there isn’t.
Basically there is nothing in any of these statements that come close to proving any sort of wide-scale fraud. Many of the claims are ridiculous, some are hearsay, none that I have found even state knowledge of a single fraudulent ballot.
It seems pretty clear it’s just another exercise in riling up the base, keeping Trump happy that “his guys and gals” are working hard, and maybe bringing in some more donations. And if it gets a few other low-level (or perhaps high-level like Gov Ducy or Gov Kemp) to go along with the “let’s delay certification and cripple the incoming administration” game then bonus.
The only thing that could remotely be considered important would be if these rumblings regarding voting machine software vulnerability had any grain of truth to them. But they don’t. Which is why none of the legal proceedings have even mentioned them, as far as I am aware.
So you amplify the penny-ante crap which you put in court documents for as long as you can until they get thrown out. Then you insinuate that there is much more evidence that nobody can see yet (and which, of course, nobody will ever see because it doesn’t exist). And you see how long the rubes will go along.
Now Mohave County election officials in Arizona have decided to put off the certification canvass until the day of the deadline. They are a pro-trump county and said even though there are no irregularities, they want to show solidarity with him.
What about fucking solidarity to your fellow Americans?
Also two GOP Michigan state senators are going to meet with trump even after one of them (Shirkey) said Biden was the president-elect. They will meet with trump tomorrow - Shirkey and Chatfield.
Also Rudy’s hair dye is leaking down his face.
Can anyone sue in court to make these elections boards fucking DO THEIR DAMN JOB?
I read the complaint and I don’t see it going very far. It’s not entirely clear to me that the actual electors can sue the other party’s electors, but we’ll see how it goes.
A very similar case about that machine was already rejected by the Nevada Supreme Court on election day.
“It’s just a lot of noise going on, because Donald Trump is a bull who carries his own china shop with him,” said Douglas Brinkley, a presidential historian at Rice University. “Once the noise recedes, it’s going to be clear that Biden won a very convincing victory.”
Someone throw a net over Rudy and haul him away. For that performance he’s getting $20K per day? He needs to be checked out, medicated, institutionalized, etc.
I take that stuff and I know a few people who do. It’s often used off-label as a sleeping aid/treatment for insomnia. I use it for that and also as a mood stabilizer. Only started taking it a couple weeks ago. Don’t notice much of anything other than it does give me a good night’s sleep. Is it really that “potent”? I presume that’s all in the dosage.
I listened to a little CSPAN on my lunch break at work, and there was a lunatic sounding Trump lawyer going on about Venezuela and “Foriegn” voting machines changing votes, or attributing higher weight to Biden votes and lesser weight to Trump votes. She sounded off her fucking rocker. Was that the same press conference as Giulliani?
Yes, there were two women lawyers that spoke after Rudy. The first woman, who you referred to, is Sidney Powell. The second woman is Jenna Ellis, who is Trump’s ‘legal advisor’.
I saw that and thought something was wrong with my tv (because when he wiped his face, I didn’t notice anything dark on the napkin). But in any case, I’ve never seen that happen before, anywhere. Isn’t hair dye permanent? The guy is pure slime, and it looked the slime was leaking out.
Reminds me off the first presidential candidates’ TV debate in 1960 and the Nixon sweating incident. (not that I’ve witnessed it myself, I wasn’t even born, but it has become kind of an archetype of PR going the wrong way)
