Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

Yeah:

One need only compare the respective track records for accuracy and honesty of:

  • Trump and his acolytes, and
  • The MSM, and
  • The various fact-checking organizations

I’ll wait

Domo Arigato, Mr. beowulff…

They got nothing.

WTF happened to “America’s Mayor”, the strong yet comforting dude who soothed all of America after 9/11? I want to think he is ill - a sick puppy, just to cut him some slack, but just when you think he’s reached the bottom, he continues to dig, and dig faster and harder than before. SMH

Breaking news alert from the Washington Post says Georgia hand recount confirms Biden lead.

It’s not so much breaking news to most of us that Biden won, (again) but it is good that these steps are progressing.

ETA: I believe access is free as part of election updates

From the Post:

So, the change was just less than one one-hundreth of one percent.

FWIW, the AP has now called Georgia for Biden. They were waiting for the results of the recount.

“I prefer the term “artificial person” myself.”

There is no denying that Giuliani did a good job in the aftermath of 9/11, but he was always a rather nasty and divisive figure as mayor. He’s also the dumbfuck who insisted on putting the NYC Office of Emergency Management headquarters in 7 World Trade Center after the WTC had already been attacked in '93. The OEM was meant to co-ordinate the response of fire/police and all other emergency services in the wake of a crisis. Instead, it had to be evacuated while the towers burned.

Yay. Biden wins. Woo-hoo.

I guess AP really is the most careful. I had not realized they had waited.

I hope I’m not sidebarring too far astray for the thread but can we just MARVEL at the comedic goldmine that is Ghouliani?

He’s buttdialed adversarial journalists MORE THAN ONCE and left rambling, telling voice mails.

He got duped by Borat and literally caught with his pants down…

The Four Seasons…

…total…
…uh…landscaping thing (no comedy writer would ever take it this far. TOO absurd).

And now the melting hair coloring…

Seriously imagine pitching this movie. They’d call you ridiculous.

I was going to say something similar, didn’t want to hijack, but since you responded…

He made some nice speeches after 9/11, but nothing that any competent mayor would not have made. If Dinkins had still been mayor, I don’t think he would have gone on TV and said we should all run for the hills. I had forgotten about this until a few minutes ago, but Time named him Man of the Year. But this was only 3 months after 9/11 before a lot of facts were known. Like the one you mentioned, like the fact the police and fire departments were on different frequencies (not all his fault but he did nothing to fix it), like the fact that he put clean up crews in danger and may have killed some by not following safety guidelines (similar to not wearing masks). He tried to change election laws to give himsef another term. A theme is developing LOL

I lived in NYC at the time, and I remember, as a Mets fan, Mike Piazza hitting a home run to beat the Braves. Rudy was interviewed before that and basically said we can’t let the terrorists win. And at the time I appreciated that. But it didn’t change my life, I was back to work a few weeks before.

Rudy became America’s Mayor beccause of his shameless self-promotion in the months and years after 9/11. I love the fact that it was Joe Biden who said, “Every sentence from Rudy has three parts, a noun, a verb and 9/11.”

Rudy was utterly incompetent in many ways both before and after 9/11. And he has always been the guy he is now.

I downloaded the recount spreadsheet from the sos.ga.gov because I hate myself: https://sos.ga.gov/admin/uploads/county-summary-data.pdf

IIUC, after all the hoopla, the recount in Floyd benefited Biden by 92 votes. The biggest error in absolute vote terms was DeKalb which benefited Biden 560 votes. The entire recount netted T 496 votes in GA.

Does this justifying opening another bottle of wine? I hope :wine_glass:

It does. And we can look forward to many more, as lawsuit after recount continues to go this way. I just finished a bottle, I kid you not, five minutes ago. Why not, I’ll open another.

I wasn’t going to have a rye and water tonight, but peer pressure, you know.

I’ve had more to drink in the past few weeks than in the past couple of years.

This is a link to an old article - this Guiliani interview happened in December 2019

And it maybe paywalled. But if you can get to it, it’s truly hysterical - for starters, Guiliani shows up with his fly unzipped. Also he falls over on his way into the restaurant.

He was pulling a Toobin before it was a, well, a thing

Giuliani is quick to announce that he knows “every block of this city,” but he lives on the Upper East Side and doesn’t linger much across or below the park.

He knows the city about as well as Woody Allen or Sherman in Bonfire of the Vanities

As he spoke, he fixed his gaze straight ahead, rarely turning to make eye contact. When his mouth closed, saliva leaked from the corner and crawled down his face through the valley of a wrinkle. He didn’t notice, and it fell onto his sweater.

The comedy gift that keeps on giving, I’ve got people in stitches on my Facebook page.

He had a few ideas for going after the credibility of witnesses. “The guy that overheard the telephone call,” for instance, “anybody check if the guy has an earpiece? Maybe he didn’t have it in. How old is he? How old is that guy?” There was a possibility that he was deaf, he said, and didn’t know what he heard. “How do we know he isn’t a paranoid schizophrenic?,” he said. “How do we know he isn’t an alcoholic?”

Sounds like the defense’s response about the affidavits Rudy is waving around
