Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

That made me smile — thanks — as does this (Biden on bongoes, Trump dancing, plus a cat):

He doesn’t say when, however.

Or how.

Dear Trump, we don’t need you to tell us that you’re going to leave the White House, you moron. You will leave. We don’t require you to concede, either, you moron. Fuck off.

No later than Inaguration Day.

I’m so worried for our country that we’re at a place where “defeated President says he’ll leave the White House” is a front page headline. Long after Trump has shuffled off the scene, we will continue to reap the consequences of his flouting of our democratic norms.

You could look at it the other way. The votes were counted, there was no fraud, the machines weren’t hacked, massive voter suppresion did not happen, the Proud Boys aren’t rioting, the courts aren’t buying the bullshit, and the legislatures aren’t going to flip their states (although the dumb fuck still thinks he can get them to do that). The system worked. No defeated candidate is going to try this again

The exception is if the entire system, legislatures and courts, becomes so corruped with facists, that it could succeed. But if that happens, we are aleady fucked.

Re:

Trump says he will leave the White House if Biden is confirmed by electoral

This shouldn’t be news, but it is :frowning:

Will he host a counter-rally? On January 20 at noon?

In handcuffs.

But he’s not even touching her butt like Trump was touching Vanky’s butt! It’s obvious that Joe doesn’t care for Dr. Jill at all.

/s, just in case.

Defiant Trump supporters are protesting, in what media estimates are numbers like 60, in the town square in support of the guy who clearly lost the election! Time to stand in the front yard brandishing your weapons, am I right, Righties?

“Four more years!” a group of roughly 60 defiant Trump backers, mostly maskless, shouted as they congregated in Millennium Park after marching from Trump’s riverfront skyscraper. "

The insanity continues. This letter appeared in my local newspaper today in reaction to an editorial last Sunday:

Re: “Biden won the election: That’s a fact; let’s move on,” Editorial, Sunday:

First: That is not a fact, but an opinion. But I have to agree that it is time to move on, and I will be moving on by not renewing my subscription. List me as one of — your words, not mine — the “spineless” Republicans. At least we have the guts to see the lawsuits through to really find the facts.

But that is not something you would be interested in — facts.

It’s an “opinion” that Biden won the election. “The guts to see the lawsuits through…” The mind boggles.

:woman_facepalming:t4:

4 years ago there was considerable talk about the influence/interference Russia and other bad actors had on the election. As best I could figure, the primary effect was via fake social media posts to gullible voters. Did this sort of thing take place this time around? If not, why not?

It’s a great question. I would bet it definitely was there again and contributed to Trump doing as well as he did. I mean, he lost by 6.5 - 7 million, but he really could have lost by 10+ million,

I never understood why it was that big of a deal 4 years ago - at least if we aren’t willing to enforce any meaningful restrictions on social media. All it suggested was that a lot of our voters are gullible idiots. Big surprise. There is certainly plenty of domestically created disinformation on social media. And it isn’t as tho our wonderful country has never interfered w/ any other country’s domestic politics.

Probably.

Pennsylvania lawsuit smacked down:

“Free, fair elections are the lifeblood of our democracy. Charges of unfairness are serious. But calling an election unfair does not make it so. Charges require specific allegations and then proof. We have neither here,”

Is this the one where a judge on Wednesday said for Pennsylvania to stop any further certification? Or a different one?

I’m not sure. You can’t tell your lawsuits without a program. I couldn’t tell from my source article.
