Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

Ironic…

When was the last time they blamed themselves? ANY of them

They’re not far left. That’s just another Republican propaganda/lie. They’re actually a bit left of centre on the political spectrum. They’re democratic socialists, they are not authoritarian socialists, market socialists, or communist.

#MeToo went after plenty of lefty people and ended their careers.

When Jeffrey Epstein was going down the right was pointing out the Bill Clinton hung with him too. Pretty much every lefty pundit I saw said Clinton should be investigated too.

People on the left don’t jettison their values the instant they become inconvenient like conservatives do.

Wow. I went to bed 7 hours ago, feeling doomed, tossing and turning fitfully. And now I awake to find that not all is lost; even, slightly, hopeful.

It totally sucks to not have won the Senate.

There are so many questions to be discussed: what is wrong with 48% of the country? What is wrong with the polls? Nate Silver has a lot of ‘splainin’ to do. But those are for another thread.

How Susan Collins cruised to an easy victory amazes me.

I have to sleep but I want to leave you with a parting thought to give you some perspective on what Americans are.

If Trump ends up winning, his supporters will say “hahahaha suck it libs, we’re gonna make you suffer!”

If Biden ends up winning, his supporters are gonna say “… cool… we’re gonna get you guys health care and a clean environment”

The Trump voters’ best case scenario involves hurting other Americans, whereas their worst case scenario involved being helped by other Americans.

Faithless elector quibble question:

Say Biden wins with 270. Its not that a single faithless elector has to flip to send it to the House…said elector could just vote for someone other then Trump and Biden and it goes to the House right? 269 sends it to the House?

I think this is important.

The blizzard of bullshit. The incessant and insane gish gallop.

If you’re sitting at a table on the South end of a tennis court, and your job is to make jewelry, but …

On the North end of that tennis court are 30 tennis ball launcher guns, constantly firing tennis balls at you … it becomes difficult to get your job done.

And if the tennis balls – unchecked – can harm you, your table, your jewelry components, or your overall operation, well … you really don’t have much choice but to keep swatting them away.

Hard to get any work done under those circumstances.

DJT has done a masterful job of (among other things) getting people to be afraid of what Joe Biden might do (with absolutely no substantiation whatsoever) and ignore the four year track record of what he, as President has and has not done.

Which is all just an overwhelming phalanx of horseshit-glazed tennis balls.

Yes. I believe so.

Thank Og the House is in the hands of Dems.

We have to stop believing that decency is common any more.

Twitter is now saying Arizona is back in play.

We also have to stop believing in polls. I never saw a single poll that had her in the lead.

even if Biden wins the protests this year certainly did not help him with some voters. I even saw voters say that pushed them to vote for Trump.

That’s not how it works when the election is sent to the House. Each state’s delegation gets 1 vote.

There was some discussion about this yesterday. AIUI it’s not the number of representatives, it’s the number of states represented.

If neither candidate gets a majority of the 538 electoral votes, the election for President is decided in the House of Representatives, with each state delegation having one vote. A majority of states (26) is needed to win.

Do the Dems have a majority of STATES?

Ninja’d.

I am less hopeful than you. Of the six states still uncalled, Trump looks sure to win PA, NC, and GA. But Biden’s leads in MI, WI, and NV are all razor-thin, basically still coin flips at this point. If any of those three goes red, it’s four more years. I definitely fear the worst.

Then we’re fucked if that happens.

Queue the riots.

Right now, no. I believe the Republicans have 27, with PA split evenly between Dems and Pubs, and Michigan essentially tied too (Amash is a conservative independent, but I’m not convinced he’d cast his vote for Trump, which would reduce the Republicans down to 26 state delegations)

Cite. I just did a quick count. Feel free to check my math.

Yeah, I’ve seen that excuse too.

I blame South Park and their “Board Girls” episode, where an (obviously) non-transgender man poses as trans-gender just to annoy PC Principal and Strong Woman.

OK, people. Just saying you’re “trans” doesn’t mean that you actually are trans-gender and can walk into any bathroom you want. There are no straight male rapists posing as trans-gender just so that they can loiter in women’s restrooms waiting for their next victim.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people to whom LGBT+ is … different. It isn’t part of their group; it isn’t who they grew up with. Yes, by now it should be a “reasonable” concept, but if you don’t have to actually deal with it yourself, or if you don’t know anyone personally who’s dealing with it, you don’t necessarily form the most well thought-out opinions. So, if all you hear is your Facebook friends scare posts about them-thar gays, that’s what’s going to form your opinion. Texas had a case where a trans wrestler won a state title in Girls Wrestling. That brought out A LOT of fear mongering; I can see where the fear came from. Don’t agree with it, but I can see where it caught hold.
