If Biden pulls it out, we have 2 years of divided government pending the 2022 Senate races. That is preferable to Don and Mitch continuing to stuff the federal bench. If say Clarence Thomas dies, we’d have 8 justices until the Senate changes hands. That’s fine with me. I don’t have any expectation of McConnell allowing a vote on any Biden judicial nominee.
Back to the race, I’m much more confident of MI and WI. AZ looking good too. The other 3, NC, GA, and PA I think will come down to urban mail in votes and I think Biden takes at least one.
I’m probably not a very good emotional support Canadian as I’m stressed out right along with half of America (perhaps all of America if the conservative subreddit is to be believed).
To note that the whole “Squad” is still in the House: AOC, Omar, Pressley and Tlaib all won re-election.
In other news, the USPS refusal to “sweep” its facilities by Tuesday’s deadline to ensure that all mail ballots received were delivered on time, as ordered by a US District Court judge, is earning them a hearing shortly in front of said judge, who is not happy. The USPS is now claiming that they’ve done the sweeps now, honest, Yer Honor…
I mentioned upthread that Sen. Bob Casey Jr., D-PA said earlier this morning on the Today Show that he believes that Biden will eventually win PA by 100,000 votes, easy. He says he bases that on hard data from the precincts yet to come in. Take it with a grain (or shaker) of salt.
GA is still in play-- what’s left to be counted I heard is heavily Dem-leaning.
Suddenly the king cried to Snowmane and the horse sprang away. Behind him his banner blew in the wind, white horse upon a field of green, but he outpaced it. After him thundered the knights of his house, but he was ever before them. Éomer rode there, the white horsetail on his helm floating in his speed, and the front of the first éored roared like a breaker foaming to the shore, but Théoden could not be overtaken. Fey he seemed, or the battle-fury of his fathers ran like new fire in his veins, and he was borne up on Snowmane like a god of old, even as Oromë the Great in the battle of the Valar when the world was young. His golden shield was uncovered, and lo! it shone like an image of the Sun, and the grass flamed into green about the white feet of his steed. For morning came, morning and a wind from the sea; and the darkness was removed, and the hosts of Mordor wailed, and terror took them, and they fled, and died, and the hoofs of wrath rode over them. And then all the host of Rohan burst into song, and they sang as they slew, for the joy of battle was on them, and the sound of their singing that was fair and terrible came even to the City.
I like the movies for the visual appeal but, damn, the Professor could spin a saga.
Which means that all those Republicans that claimed they wouldn’t have voted for Trump if they knew what he would say and do, all those Republicans who claimed that they were now, at the very least, undecided, all those Republicans who claimed to have switch parties-They were lying.
From last nigh through now I have been feeling like Merry and Pippen (in the movie) as the ring was destroyed.
FRODO! (cheering as orc fall in to big holes)
FRODO! (looking a bit concerned)
FRODO (weeping as mount doom explodes)
Really in need of Eagle Airways to the rescue right now
I think your view of global politics is based on your view of European politics, and even if Europe those two would be considered strongly left, if not far left. Which is completely irrelevant to the US political election environment. But hey, since it’s a fact, show us that fact. There are 193 countries in the United Nations. Show us a rating of Warren and Ocasio-Cortez’s liberalism, and then compare it to an index of those 193 countries. You’re saying what - about 90 of them will be to the left of those two? I don’t see it. I mean I consider New Zealand to be pretty liberal and the party that just won their last election rejected a wealth tax.
