I’m kind of wondering why we even bother to have a nationwide presidential election. We could instead just concede that certain states will go red and others will go blue and just have campaigning and an election in the few swing states. I really would like to see an end to the electoral college.
No one should be counting on Democratic pickups in the 2022 Senate races. The President’s party invariably looses seats in the midterms after taking office. (Of course, this assumes than Biden pulls out the victory.)
It varies state by state. WI, for example, does not have an automatic recount, but either party can request one if it’s within 1 point.
It seems in Wisconsin 1% is the threshold for a recount and it is not automatic. The candidate has to request it and has to pay for it unless they win the recount. SOURCE
Can he hold on for two weeks?
So let’s see if I understand how things look right now:
- Biden seems somewhat likely to get 270 by a razor-thin margin
- If #1 is true, trump’s army of lawyers get to work immediately, trying to invalidate anything close in any state that went to Biden.
- Recounts, recounts, recounts.
- Maybe no “official” call for President for weeks.
- Might even end up in SCOTUS, where ACB is gleefully rubbing her hands together, waiting for her first ruling as a Supreme.
Looks like a long November.

I’m pretty sure that what Kayleigh McEnany gave to Lesley Stahl after the interview was their only copy.

The President’s party invariably looses seats in the midterms after taking office.
2018 Senate election says hello.

Might even end up in SCOTUS, where ACB is gleefully rubbing her hands together, waiting for her first ruling as a Supreme.
You ain’t got no problem Jules. I’m on the motherfucker.
Yeah. I can totally see ACB saying that …

It is entirely relevant to the US because as you’re demonstrating so aptly they’re painted as “far-left” or the “radical left” via Republican lies and propaganda. If Americans were not so ignorant of the political spectrum, and keep confusing social democracy with market socialism, authoritarian socialism or communism, it would probably greatly help political discourse in the USA.
In other news, Republicans are on track to pick up several seats in the House and substantially narrow Nancy Pelosi’s majority in the chamber.

I considered that it would be really hard for me to stomach the idea of living in a Trump 2020 state. A Trump 2016 state is one thing, but one that unambiguously doubled down on the absolute shitfest that was Trump, it’s hard to imagine living in a place like that.
But then I’m not sure that actually makes rational sense. After all, a 51/49 split one way is a red state, and a 49/51 split the other way is a blue state. Is it really that big a difference? No, it just crosses a threshold.
I used to blow off all the people that used to threaten to leave the country when their preferred candidate lost - and to be fair, when we were talking about Clinton or Bush or Obama it was mostly just exaggerated posturing.
But Trump represents a real, significant regression of this country. It revealed an incredible amount of spite and hatred and ignorance and cult-like behavior at a way higher rate than anyone would’ve guessed before. I don’t think I want to be here anymore.
I feel your pain, but keep in mind that if you leave your state, it becomes a little redder.
We need to encourage people who will vote for Democrats to move to red states, not to move out.
As republicans have shown so well a majority of one is all you need.
Has there been any speculation that Democrats again sat at home because the polls told us Biden was going to win?

At least the House stays blue (right? Right? I haven’t checked the House races for the past hour or so).
Too soon to tell but with COVID so many of us were sat at home anyway that many voted via mail.
As I was schooled on earlier in this thread if it goes to the House each state gets one vote.
There are more red states. Has nothing to do with population. So, Wyoming with 550,000 people gets the same say as California with about 40 million people.

I’m as disappointed as most on the current state of the election but if people are going to insinuate that there is election fraud they need to have some evidence. We’ve been castigating Trump for four years for claiming fraud without any evidence. Don’t be like Trump.
The evidence is that the reported results are claiming literal millions of voters changed their minds the night before the election. And all decided to vote for Trump.
Proof? We’ll get proof that the Republicans stole this election like we got proof that Trump received aid from Russia. The Republicans will never allow anyone to investigate Republicans.
