Esprix: Hypocrite, Asshole & also Gay

Huh. I didn’t read it that way at all. To me, it just looked like he was accusing Esprix of being a one-trick pony by constantly reminding everybody in every post that he’s gay.

Oh, wait. Esprix doesn’t do that. Never mind.

Ace:

You’re getting baited into acting like a homophobe.

You see that, don’t you?

Why are you taking the bait?

If he does that, will people start addressing the assertions that Esprix was being a hypocrite and an asshole?

From what the OP says, it sure looks like it to me–if I were to say to a female doper that she really needed a good dicking and she’d chill out, or if I were to say to a gay doper of either gender that they should try straight sex and things would look better in the morning, I’d get flamed. And rightly so.

Just because someone says he isn’t gay, that doesn’t mean they’re actually a repressed homosexual–quit witnessing to him* and let him be straight, for cryin’ out loud!

[sub] Yes, witnessing. An unwelcome thrusting of your values onto someone who doesn’t share them, with the assumption that “it’s for their own good” is nothing less. And it’s no less vile than religious witnessing.[/sub]

Perhaps because it isn’t bait and this is just how he is.

Catfish like stink-bait, Syclla. White perch go for minnows. Deer love salt-lick. Some creatures just can’t resist.

Not in the context of asking whether a gay individual has immunity from insults on the SDMB. Put the context back in, and the title stands. Further, I sincerely doubt that there exists any uggesting that “hypocritical gay asshole” would not also have been jumped upon? I doubt that to the Nth degree and back - there’s no such wording.

Whoa, another fourth-grade wannabe with a secret crush on Esprix. How do ya do it, 'sprix?

I find it amusing, and heartwarming, that nearly every member of Ace’s

is straight.

For what it’s worth, that’s the way I read it too.

And I agree with everything blessedwolf said. Thanks, saved me the trouble of trying to compose a coherent intelligent post myself

Redact to: ‘there exists any wording where “hypocritical gay asshole”’

…(as thoughts collide)

Yeah, matt, but we’re all self-hating breeders.

But I bet they have the nicest uniforms and marching songs. How does one join up?

I agree with JUANITA and BLESSEDWOLF that if you look past the way ACE’s complaint was phrased, the complaint itself is certainly justified.

If some guy told me I needed a “good deep dickin’” (MAEGLIN’s term) to “make a woman of me,” I’d be seriously pissed off too.

The gayness of the person making the comment doesn’t enter into it. Gay or straight, it’s an outrageously rude thing to say.

Our uniforms aren’t nearly as cool as yours, matt, but at least we don’t wear tights or sing show tunes.

Give me my brain cell back, elf6c.

And for the record, Jodi, you are manifestly not one of the people I was thinking of who would get a laugh out of such a remark.

Ace - “hypocritical gay man” would be acceptable if (and only if) the person was being hypocritical on the subject of being gay.

“that gay man is a hypocritical asshole” would also be OK in the above scenario.

It’s the juxtaposition of those words that is not. “Gay” is NOT a negative quality.

And if he was being hypocritical about any other subject than actually being gay it wouldn’t be relevant to refer to his gayness in an insult.

Blessedwolf sed:

In the context of the post, I don’t think Esprix was witnessing or assuming that Ace is a repressed homosexual.

He may not of been assuming that Ace is a repressed homosexual, but “I still say a stiff dick up his ass would do him a world of good” could be construed as witnessing, as defined by blessedwolf in the above post.

FWIW I thought this was the effect Ace was trying to achieve by putting the “gay” in parenthesis, but this is the last word I’m going to say on the subject, as it is obvious he is hell bent on turning this into “one of those threads”.

This thread is fun. I can tell what the time is right now by pressing refresh and seeing the time stamp on the latest post.
