Caturday already…where did my week go? 'im indoors came back early last night and we went to see a comedian called Mitch Benn - been a fan of his for many years since he was at Glastonbury in the mid-90s. Today we have errands to do and I have been on t’interwebz in search of some cream to help my rosacea which has been flaring up all week. I have a sample pack of stuff from one site that helps a bit but I have been looking for something more effective. And some flea drops for the cats too, just because I care.
I have no other plans for this weekend, I think it will a time of slothfulness since I am away from home every other weekend this month.
I took some generic nyquil stuff last night and slept like I was dead. But as soon as I got up and started moving around, my head filled, the snuffling started, and I just generally felt ick. So the other 2 have left for Annapolis and I’m in a sweatsuit having a mug of hot chocolate. It’ll be me and the dogs and the cats today.
Oh well - I should get a lot of knitting done. And there’s always next year.
I got to sleep in today, until 8am! I tried to sleep longer but between Nature and the kitteh it just wasn’t going to happen.
My big plans for the day? catch up on a week’s worth of DVR’d programs
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. OYKW is still abed. I have decided that when he arises and we purtify he can take me to IHOP for what will be by then brunch. He’ll be thrilled to know this. Really.
StickyBuns, I don’t think you were responsible unless you were sneezing on my spousal unit, in which case, we’ve got other things to discuss… He was pretty sick and even took to sleeping in the other bedroom, but it was too late - the germs were spread.
I’ve had a scrambled-egg-on-toast sammich and some hot chocolate. I’m now having my caffeine (medicinal Diet Coke) and I will return to the couch shortly to watch TV and knit. Wonder how many boxes of tissues I go thru today??
Aw** FCM**, that sucks. I hope TEH ICK doesn’t hang around long.
I’ve been up for a couple of hours. My son has to drive to BFE to take his SAT today and I wanted to be sure to see him off. He’s got directions in hand, and hopefully, he won’t get lost. He has to drive out to the Key/Olympic Penninsula to take the test because all the schools around here were full up.
He’s not a really sunshiney guy in the morning and today he was extra grumpy.
Oh well. I hope he does well and gets there and back with no problem.
I’m drinking some coffee I brought home from Hawaii. Kona/chocolate/coconut. I know, sounds gross, but it’s actually not bad. My husband picked it, not me.
I’ve got cleaning to do and lasagna to make today. Lucky me.
Oh, no, Zeldar! MMPs are about the topic AND about other stuff too. That’s what makes them fun. I especially like it when people who don’t usually participate stop by.
Am contemplating what to do with the rest of my morning. I feel like going out, but not sure to do what. Guess I should figure out what time the game is, so that I know how to plan my routes.
We were supposed to host our friends tonight for lasagna dinner and we were going to exchange pictures from our trip to Hawaii.
However, all of a sudden, they all started backing out yesterday (after I had bought the damn dinner ingredients). The one set all of a sudden had tickets for a boat ride, the other set had their son just moved out, and all of a sudden it was imperative they scrub their house top to bottom. The weather sucks for a boat ride too. It’s pouring down rain here.
Normally, this wouldn’t bother me so much, but this is like the third time this has happened with them. When we telll them we’re coming, we don’t back out all of a sudden because something different came up. Believe me, we’ve had the opportunities to do so, but we believe in meeting our obligations.
Add to that, that the one friend’s brother is trying to invite himself over here because the friend let it slip that initially they were coming over, and I’m just really kind of beyond miffed. The brother is an obnoxious pain in the ass who lacks social graces. He hogs every conversation and has done everything bigger and better.
Anyway, I told my husband that was the third strike. I’m not offering to host anymore. If they want to host, it’s fine with me, but I’m done. If they ask why I’m not hosting anymore, I’ll tell them. Otherwise, I won’t even address it.
This probably sounds petulant, but I can’t help it. I think what they’ve done is rude. I understand stuff comes up once in awhile, but it’s happened too often.
Break time, altho taking a break from doing nothing is a little, um, odd… I’ve been knitting like crazy and watching movies. I also had some soup, and I’m feeling better, altho I still cough a bit.
**FCD **called and said the boat show was really crowded - much moreso than usual. Most brokers don’t let you wear shoes when you tour their boats, and he said at one boat, there were at least 20 pairs of shoes sitting on the dock. That’s extreme.
I sent daughter’s dog downstairs and he’s been quiet - I think he got into his crate to snooze. Which is good. That way, Bernie and Scruffy get a break, too.
Taters, I can’t blame you at all. Your friends sound a little classless, and I agree you don’t need to bring it up, but if they ask, you owe them honesty. You also owe them a kick i the shins, but that would be kinda classless, too… At least lasagna freezes well, so you can make it up for your own little fambly. Or you could send it to me.
Well, back to the afghan - I’m about a third of the way thru - it’s not going to take nearly as much yarn as I bought. So the extra will go into a nursing home afghan.
Time to forage for a snack. Medicinal chocolate, right?
Sorry about that, Taters. I wouldn’t invite them over again either.
I’m making good progress on painting my concrete leaves. I’ve put the first topcoat on the blue ones and have started on the middle part of the ones that are kind of fall-colored. I seem to be getting close to what I actually want with them, color-wise, so: yay!
Also had a yummy salad: greens, fresh pear slices, red pepper, and grilled halloumi-like cheese. And chocolate for dessert, of course. I’m still a little bit hungry, but haven’t decided what for.
Oh, hell with them, **FCM. ** I’m making the lasagna and my hubby is thrilled. My daughter and her boyfriend are coming down, and my son will be eating some too. No worries, the lasagna will go quickly, even though I make a giant-ass pan of it.
You know, for the most part, this group of friends are a real class act, but for some reason they feel it’s alright to do this to us. Maybe it’s because we’re so comfortable around each other; I don’t know. At any rate, they won’t be doing it to me anymore.
