Ever been to Pisgah? A place names MMP

So, Taters, what you’re saying is no lasagna for me??

:frowning:

<sigh>

Taters is a Lasagna Nazi?

Wow, our friend’s nervy brother is on the phone with my husband right now. Unbelievable. Hubby told him we’re not doing anything other than having our kids over.

FCM, there’s lasagna for you, of course. You didn’t say you were coming over, and then renege…three times. You just need to make it over to this coast, m’dear!

Well yes, when people do this to me three times, yes I am. Lasagne (at least my recipe) is not cheap to make. Also, when our friend is trying foist his nervy brother off on us, that pisses me off too.

doggone it. Now I want Lasagna for supper. <shaking tiny little fist at Taters>

I think I need some real food for supper. If I can decide what I want, I can get my sweetie to bring it home for me. hmmmmmm

That was just, well, just, just, ummmm… disturbin’! Fun to watch but well, disturbin’!

Taters I’d go lasagna nazi on 'em too! They ain’t got class or couth.

Instead of IHOP we had good Chinese.

You would do well to broaden your horizons

<snerk> away!

omg…I just bought a house!

Congrats kaiwik! Where?

Wow!!! Yay!

w00t!!!1!!11!!

I am stuck on Band-Aid…

WOOHOO kai! We anxiously await the details. [del]Nosy[/del] Inquiring Mumpers wanna know!

Hotdawgs for dindin. Yeah, we’re all class.

Yay Kaiwik!! And congrats too …where?! LOL

Hey all, hugs to Taters because yes indeedy lasagna is expensive to make. You are totally on point, girl, and stick with it about not wanting to host any longer. I’m not a great cook, but I will experiment and try different recipes. I saw Gaida this morning on Weekend Today; she was making a greens and pasta dish and boy did it look good! She used some ricotta salata cheese in it - it’s like a dried ricotta cheese, and the pasta she used was called orechietta (I think!); it looked like tiny plates is the best way I can think to describe it (LOL). It had spinach and swiss chard, garbonzo beans and cherry tomatoes in it too. It really looked good and I think I’m going to try that some time. (The recipe is up at the Today show website.)

In the mean time, I’m going to make some chili in the crock pot (first of the season!) using a beef roast that I’m going to rub with chili spice and cook it down before making the chili. We’ll see how that turns out.

Swampy, what do you think? Any other chefs out there, got any pointers or other suggestions for me? LiLi and Muppet, what about you folks - I know you’re both well versed chefs! Hope the kids are sleeping better, btw and that Aerin is doing okay, LiLi!

So glad it’s the holiday weekend, and oh hey, Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian friends!!

Thanks guys! Life has been moving so quickly since January I have barely had time to indulge in the internet, and mostly I have been “down on the farm” when I am.

So, yes, the house. By the way, this one does not have wheels! It’s up in Marysville, Taters, just a mile and a half from my parents. It has become transparent that they need for me to be that close. Actually, they would like me to live next door, but the houses my Dad was looking at sold, so I dodged that bullet! I mean, a girl needs to have a life too! :stuck_out_tongue: I don’t really understand all the terminology, but the sellers have put in writing that they will be out at the end of November, so I am looking forward to having Christmas back home. The house itself is structurally fit, and the interior has been recently redone; new paint, carpeting, toilets (!) and roof. The garage has tons of storage, with room for a washer and dryer. Which I need to replace, and I am so amped about getting a front loader!!! 3 bedrooms, 1 3/4 ba, fireplace in the living room, Ima put an insert there to help cut the heating bill, family room, office, open kitchen/dining area, fabulous deck, large, fenced backyard for the doggies and my posies, trees around the perimeter of the backyard for privacy/windscreen. The front yard has two young but producing apple trees, two rhododendrons, one azalea and a lilac. I want to put in a tall white picket fence around the front yard (so, dreams sometimes do come true!) and I want to plant a wondrous English Cottage type of garden! (Yeah, I channel Tasha Tudor!)

Just think, spring will happen when spring is supposed to!

I am both blissed out and scared shitless. Did I need a 3 bedroom just as my two youngest are ready to fly? Now I am dealing with #3 daughter wanting me to bring her boyfriend down with us (No!) and my son has decided to become mulish and is trying to finagle a way that he can stay here and finish school. He will be 18 in January and is a Junior, so I can’t exactly force him, and even if he does come down he has enough issues (primarily ADHD and an anger management issue) I don’t know if a diploma is enough incentive for him to finish in a new school. The thought of leaving my “baby” is heart wrenching, but if it means the difference between him graduating or not, well, a mother’s decision is obvious. I am, among other things, not ready for an empty nest.

See, I don’t post forever, and then I post a chapter’s worth of words. The house is not the only thing going on in my life, but it is amazing to me, I am going to, finally, have a real home of my own. Without wheels!

That’s great news, kaiwik. Maybe, sometime, I’ll get up Marysville way, and we can meet up for cup of coffee or something!

The lasagna noodles are cooking, and soon I’ll start putting together the lasagna so I can stick it in the oven. The sauce has been on a low simmer most of the day and the flavors have nicely melded.

yay for the new house, kai! Everything will work out with your kids, so don’t let it make you too crazy!

**tarra **- I got more weird emails from your account - have you tried changing the password on it or are you going to abandon it? I don’t want to block it unless you give it up.

Looks like it was a good thing I didn’t go to the boat show - the photos **FCD **showed me hinted at a ridiculous crowd. Plus I think just being still here was the best thing for me. And my sweetie picked up supper for me from a local diner, so my tummy is happy. If I get a good sleep tonight, I should be back to normal tomorrow.

I’m pooped - how strange for having done pretty much nothing all day!

weird dreamage during naptime:
The beginning of it is fuzzing away but at one point I was L&O:SVU’s Det Stabler’s partner and we were trying to figure out the markings on a freight train - then we were walking towards a dinner cruise ship that was being protested by lobstermen, and when one blocked my way, I told him I was kosher, so he left me alone. As we approached the gangplank, Stabler, who had now become NCIS’ Special Agent Gibbs noticed I was still wearing my badge-on-a-lanyard, so I quickly shoved it in my pocket. On our way to our stateroom, we were stopped by a pudgy balding Englishman who, I noticed was carrying a knife, so Gibbs and I danced around him and avoided getting stabbed. We got to our room, and it was just like we’d left it, a messy sit-com studio apartment. Someone knocked on the door asking if we were through with the fountain yet. I opened the door a crack, and a hand reached in holding a gun and started shooting dartboard darts at us. Olivia (SVU) finally shows up, but she’s as clueless as first season Friends’ Rachel, so was no help at all. Then I woke up. Do ya think I watch too much TV?

Hee, rosie, that’s an interesting melding of shows.

I’ve been painting leaves and knitting and watching Inspector Lewis mysteries on PBS. I really like them. (There are 3 episodes online right now.)

I think I need to put another coat of color on the leaves. Then it’s back to knitting.

Back later.

Hello. Happy Saturday. I was awake way to early today. 3.30AM kind of early. So today I was a bit of a slug and took a 2 hour nap this afternoon with LibbyCat. In my defense I also went out to the field with mr ems and we have also been to home depot and got the paint for the cupboard doors. Tomorrow we start the long task of stripping etc

This evening will spent being a sloth. Sweet potatoes just went in the oven to bake and I will figure out something else in a bit.

:waiting for the first male mumper to come along and ask for a cite: :stuck_out_tongue:
