Ever been to Pisgah? A place names MMP

FCM, I’m sorry about the emails again. :frowning: I did change the password and then even deleted all my contacts in there. I’m not going to abandon the account just yet, although I do have a new account at the google mail site now so am ready if that is what it comes down to. Gah, why do people do stuff like that?! It makes no sense!

Great news about the house in Washington state, kai; so glad for you! And all the other things going on too, btw. I hope things work out with the kids, but like FCM said, don’t let it stress you out … too much!

Going to make that chili tomorrow and am looking forward to how it turns out!

Heehee!

Eeeeep, how’d I forget to congratulate kai on the house? That’s awesome news!

Still awake. Knitting and now watching Romancing the Stone.

Hoping to fall asleep soon…

Hugs.

I went and watched the Miami/FSU game at the Bistro. Kinda nice to watch a football gamw without having to care about the score. Bonus:one of the Miami guys is a devils fan, so i got to taunt him with the scores from that game, too.

mmmmm, cite?

Congrats, kai!

Weird dream, rosie.

Congratulations, Kai! Og knows it’s past due time for some positives in your life…

First Rain on Friday – and it lived up to its Hebrew name, “The Shooter,” so called because it’s always a short but heavy downpour; if you’re out in it, it can seem that the drops are so big, you’re being shot by them… So, Autumn has officially arrived in The Desert

And I’m the first to mention that today is 10/10/10*!!!

  • First one to ask if 10/10 in the European or American form of writing dates gets smacked with a wet trout! :stuck_out_tongue:

Up early and feeling pretty good. Once **FCD **drags his butt out of bed, I’m going to make him take me to breakfast. Daughter has already left, in my car, for a day at the MD Ren Faire. Critters have been tended to, cat box cleaned, dishwasher loaded and running - yeah, I guess I’m over my ick. This couldn’t have happened yesterday so I could have gone to the boat show. No, that would be too good for me. Oh well, there’s always next year.

I’m thinking I’ll do something outside today. The leaves are starting to fall, so a turn around the yard on the riding mower is probably a good idea. Plus there are a bajillion branches on the ground that could be cut/broken up into firewood. I just need to move the wood rack closer to the house. For some dumb reason, **FCD **put it way out by the forsythia hedge, because when it’s cold and we need more wood, we’ll just love that brisk trek across the yard…

I’ve also got to clean out the garden in front of the front porch. It’s weedville, plus many of the hostas are way overgrown. I need to divide them and spread them out. I won’t get it all done today, but I can start.

Meanwhile, maybe I’ll throw the cat on someone’s bed so he gets up and takes me out to eat…

Happy Sunday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffienated, brekkied and purtified for deheathenization. I also have skettie sauce simmerin’ in the slow cooker. Smells yummerific!

Herbs seems to me that chili made with a slow simmered roast would be good. I would have cut it into chunks before slow cookin’ the roast but that’s just me. Of course you didn’t say you didn’t do that so for all I know you did. Anywhichway you do it, it should be good with that chili rub on it IMO.

Rosie, this is your dream. This is your dream on drugs. Any questions? :stuck_out_tongue:

kai the house sounds great. Good that it’s all updated and such. What is a 3/4 bath? The mind boggles on this one. Oh and yay for a little distance betwixt you and the 'rents. Double yay on recently replaced roof. That’s always a good thing.

MOOOOOOM throw the cat on the bed and then act all horrified. Exclaim, “I just don’t know what gets into that cat sometimes!” Maintain an innocent look. This is key.

What if I ask if it’s the yy/mm/dd notation used in some of our spreadsheets?

Go to Y2K. Go Directly to Y2K. Do not pass Go, do not collect 2000… :stuck_out_tongue:
(Now, if you said you use YYYY/MM/DD notation, I would be the first to congratulate you!! :))

It’s 10/10/10, so I’ll be working 10+ hours today. If you’re off(and aren’t we all a little bit off?:D), enjoy the day.

Nah, I’m right with you…
'Course, Sunday is a normal working day for me, anyway… :stuck_out_tongue:

: pummels Lunch with his own trout : :stuck_out_tongue:

we need “like” buttons here in the Dope

Can you imagine the obliviousness of the state employees?

“Gee willikers, we can’t figure out WHY it was a bad idea to name this after Mr. Bong… or why kids keep stealing the signs…” (and they are some sweeeet signs…)

Maybe they were high.

digs - the image of the people planning that site made me giggle.

Hey…it’s SO…multiple times in one week. Does this mean things are slowing down?

Heh. I was thinking yesterday where we all get to celebrate a weird date on the same day.

Speaking of October. Has everyone seen the 3 Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays meme? I thought it was odd that any day-of-the-week date phenomenon could happen once every few hundred years, so, instead of doing the math :D, I googled it and found responses such as: “What about 01/10? 05/09? 08/08? 10/04? 10/99? 10/93?” (Not sure if all of these months are accurate, but I checked 1/2010 and 5/2009 and those are right.) Kinda scares me. As much as we say “don’t believe everything you read on the internet,” even I was about to mindlessly repeat this intriguing “fact.” (One tweet of this I saw had been re-tweeted 1,809 times.) Amazing how lazy we get, especially with things that are so easy to verify.

Back from church and about to go outside to play in the garden for a while. It’s supposed to get up to 88 today and 85 tomorrow. Don’t they know it’s October?

Back later.

Cow Orker brought this up on Friday, she’d gotten the chain email - I keep those single-year-on-a-page calendars on my wall - (I have them going back to 2003, they come in handy when I am researching the history of an account) - I immediately told her which months in the recent past have also had 5 Fri-Sat-Sun combos. Any 31 day month that starts on a Friday will have that.

Whew - dusty and dirty… **FCD **and I moved the mulch that was the stump if the paulownia, then raked out the remaining stump/mulch of the pine tree. Then I mowed the back yard - all 4 blades of grass that had grown since the last mowing. I was actually more interested in mulching up the first of the fallen leaves.

Breakfast was pretty disappointing - I think it’s because we had a new server, but he really sucked. He got our drink orders wrong - apparently 2 diet cokes sounds like diet coke and coffee… Then he got my food order wrong, even after repeating it back to me. Finally, he never came back to check on us or refill our drinks. And from what I can tell, he screwed up the orders of the folks sitting behind me, and rather than just take it back and fix it, he insisted he put in the correct order. Whatever. It was the rare occasion that I didn’t leave a tip.

Time to knit…

Wow, that really is a sucky server, FCM. I wouldn’t have left a tip either.

It’s raining and dreary here. My husband wants to run a couple of errands today, but we’ll see what actually gets done today.

Somewhat – although it’s probably a lull rather than a trend. Which is good, I guess… :dubious:

As for the Fri-Sat-Sunx5 thing; as **Rosie **mentioned, it will happen in any 31-day month starting on Friday. Which means once a year, on average.
Another way of looking at it, if we don’t assign these 3 days any special significance, is that every 31-day month has 5 of some three-day sequence…

Yeah. All it took for me to go “duh!” was to…ermmm…look at a calendar and see the date arrangement. Apparently, calendars are in short supply.

So…nappy poo came before the wander into the garden. But now I’m going out there for reals.

Honest.

Truly.

Kick me if you still see the little green dot on after this…
