Evil Dead Mafia II - Teaser and Sign-Ups [Game On!]

Hal’s participation level really does stick out on the list. We’ll see if lynch pressure steps up his game.

Vote Hal

I also agree that with so many scum dead already, it is damn tempting to coordinate power moves in the open to better flush out whoever else is aligned against the Town.

Lynch the lurker isn’t a bad idea given the lead we have right now, but my vote is currently resting on Nanook, so let’s take another look at that before I move it:

The metagame thing looks much less solid, as ed is a pretty likely first-round pick.

However, looking at Nanook’s scum-hunting relevant actions so far, he:

  • voted for Romanic
  • put pressure on NAF
  • came out strongly against the case on peeker
  • reversed field on peeker once he refused to claim
  • promised to vote for NAF the next day if peeker flipped scum
  • voted and final voted for Telcontar when he had “SCUM” written on his forehead
  • said that he thought ed’s case on Mahaloth was “pretty good”
  • added to the case and made a vote for Suburban Plankton
  • rebutted my case against him.

I think I’m comfortable leaving my vote where it is.

NETA: to be fair, he did also proclaim Drain to be “90% Town”, which I’d rate as pro-Town.

And it really does frost Scum when they get caught for something that doesn’t make any sense anyway. I remember in Random, when a turn of phrase on my part (“overnight thread” vs. “overnight portion of the thread”) got turned into a scum slip.

Oh, sure. By the time he refused to post his PM, it was pretty obvious he was going to fry in any case.

Which prevarication happened BEFORE your post denouncing the bandwagon

By the time you would have had a chance to vote for NAF, he’d been investigated twice (and Telcontar had “SCUM” written on his forehead).

Why yes, I didn’t (at the time) find much scummy in the other SIX posts of substance you’d made to the thread. I apologize for only finding things of concern in 33% of your output so far.

Or else he’s a PFK, of course.

huh? I’m not getting the connection between Ed not having any suspicion and his turning up dead this morning?

If we’re talking mass claim, I should point out one thing from my PM. It says that I am NOT “vulnerable to any kind of change in alignment under any circumstances.”

Which rather implies that some are.

I’m not sure that it matters – I’ve been going back and forth on whether to bring this up at all for most of the game (not knowing the mechanism by which such alignment changes might occur – it might be unnecessary WIFOM), and given those uncertainties, the impact on any otherwise confirmed players we might have is unclear. NAF died a townie – that is possibly a good sign that if there is traditional recruitment in the game, it had already happened before he became “all-but-confirmed” (which would mean greater odds of catching such a player on behavior than if it happened late). But there’s no way to be sure.

I might be making this too complicated. Going to sleep on a couple of things. I hope people aren’t tempted to rely on power roles to solve the game, though.

I guess. Mine says my power was unblockable, which could imply that others have blockable powers. Or…it’s just there to make us think.

I’ll admit, yours sounds more suggestive than mine.

Are we thinking of a mass claim then? I am actually starting to think now might be the time to do it.

Others? We should do it quickly if we decide to.

Actually I skimmed over Natlaw’s suggestion to take it as mass claim rather than limited claim – but I suppose we could talk about both.

I just think a full claim might be wise at this point.

Combining Natlaw’s lists and lilflower’s investigation, for clarity:

ALIVE

  1. Mahaloth - The Census Taker (Special)
  2. Oy! - Novice Witch (Inventor)
  3. Normal Phase - non-Vanilla
  4. Drain Bead - Librarian (Vanilla+)
  5. Tom Scud for GuiriEnEspana – Night Three
  6. Total Lost - not Demon, claimed by lilflower
  7. Mrs. McGinty
  8. Texcat
  9. Stanislaus
  10. One and Only Wanderers
  11. brewha
  12. USCDiver
  13. CometotheDarkSideWeHaveCookies
  14. Natlaw
  15. Hal Briston
  16. Nanook of the North Shore
  17. lilflower- Stand-By (Backup) - took Idle’s Power for one Day/Night

So that gives us 11 people who have no claim of any kind against them. If we do a mass claim, I think there would be 3-5 false claims to sort out. We’ve lost 5 Vanillas, but we don’t really know how many there “ought” to be so that’s no help. In terms of power-roles, what we’ve seen so far has been pretty non-standard (a Martyr, a very limited investigator, a Grave Robber and a Hitchhiker as confirmed, plus a one-shot Mass Roleblocker, an Inventor and Backup claimed) We haven’t seen any kind of protective role; I’d also expect to see some other type of investigative role.

So, if we were to do a mass roleclaim, I suspect we’d end up trying to find scum among a) some number of claimed vanillas, b) conflicting claims to protective powers, c) conflicting claims to investigative powers. And maybe a completely left-field role (would we have accepted a Hitchhiker claim, for example?)

So the question is whether claimants have any chance of confirming themselves. If protectors know for a fact that their targets get a message showing they were healed, that would be an argument in favour of them claiming. Investigators will probably struggle to provide definitive confirmation of their role but again, the easier they think they will find that, the better the case for claiming. As for going through Vanilla claims, we’ll just have to do that on people’s merits.

How can you chastise folks for ‘fishing’ about your magic bag in one breath and wave it around in the next? I dont’ know what your angle is, but this whole method of talking about how much we shouldn’t talk about you is getting tiresome.

Out with it or leave it alone. You can’t do both.

I think we have enough of a lead that a mass claim would probably benefit town. The tricky part is to get everyone onboard and to get everyone to claim within the same day. I don’t know that we have enough consistent participation by everyone to make that happen.

So either I’m misremembering or my find function on Chrome isn’t working. I seem to recall a conversation between Normal and Oy! where Oy! asks why Normal keeps bring up the magic bag and Normal tells him to lay off with the fishing.

I’ll try and find it so I can back up my previous post better. I really should have done the finding before the posting.

This method? I’ve made one post, prompted by Oy! speculating intensely and persistently about what (mostly) town roles would explain my behavior. Those comments should never have been made. I think I restrained myself admirably under the circumstances.

But whatever.

I am an investigator of sorts. So far the most useful piece of information I can offer is that someone did do what Mahaloth said he did on day three (asked about the number of third parties). This is substantial, if not entirely definitive, support for Mahaloth’s overall truthfulness.

I still don’t know if I should post my entire PM.

NETA: It’s only a page or two back.

NETA again: The thing with Oy, I mean, not my role PM.

I’m not at my best this morning.

This. If we are going to do it, we need to do it whilst there is sufficient time to go through the resulting info. A claim that happens towards the end of day will only benefit scum.

Maybe have the discussion today and if we decide to go for it claim 1st thing tomorrow?

As for the claim, it doesn’t make a whole lot of difference to me, since I’m claimed already. I’m not experienced enough to judge if numerically this is the right time to do it.

However, I want to look at lilflower before I go any further.

Here’s the thing. lilflower was coming under a little heat yesterDay. Not a lot, but maybe enough to make her uncomfortable.

So far we’ve had two roles that nodded directly back to Evil Dead 1: The Inexperienced Religious Figure, who hearkened back to Religious Figure Having a Crisis of Faith from Evil Dead 1, having pretty much the same powers; and The King of Blades, Scum Strongman, who is clearly descended from The Prince of Blades, who was a Scum Strongman.

I submit that The Standby is a nod-back to The Famous Actor, Scum Godfather from Evil Dead 1. All the stuff about her execise of Idle’s power could have been copied word for word from Idle’s posts here in the thread, including her exchange with Story to get her results. Scum know from the start who all the Demons are, so they could claim to use that power on anyone but themselves and feel confident that their claim would be supported by events.

I think lilflower is a Standby, all right. But I think the role she’s filling was already vacated when Town lynched Brewha, the Famous Actor, in Evil Dead 1. I think she claimed because she figured she could get some Townie credit and remove all heat from her. Of course, lynching Total Lost and having her turn up Demon Scum would disprove this, but that seems a tad drastic. But lilflower herself is, by her own claim, at best vanilla, so if we lynch her, it’s not such a great loss as it might otherwise be.

Vote lilflower.

I"m not really following. What role am I filling and why are we talking about Evil Dead I?

To be honest, I expect to be lynched toDay. I know I have not been playing well at all and my claim does seem to be “good timing” as it were. The fact is, I did not get a chance to use the one shot power until last Night and I am just vanilla now. I don’t think my lynching will hurt town at this point anyway. At least you would know that I am telling the truth about Total Lost.
