No votes: didn’t check

@USCDiver: Nope sorry, I haven’t got links to all claims I just saw MCGinty’s while looking for the Day Six post so I added that one. The mass claim happened Day Five so you’ll have to start from that link.

We had full claims from NAF and Suburban. So we do know they had no bonuses.

I didn’t say I blocked Texcat and then just wave it off. I would have let everyone think that I had blocked texcat until I got an answer from Hal - had my plan not been so flawed.

I knew that if I changed my story, I would look suspicious. That is why I bread crumbed Hal in the post where I said that I had blocked Textcat. I’ll explain the breadcrumb since no one seems to appreciate it, but I really dont’ think it should be necessary.

Hal got pranked at work. He left his computer logged into the dope and someone started a thread as Hal claiming that he liked him some sex with sheep.
Knowing that pretty much every doper has heard this story, I put in a Bah BAH (baa, baa) in my post. I guarantee that you will not find me using that word (bah) at all in this game and I’d be surprised if I have typed it on the dope in my 2,000+ posts.

The only reason I said I had blocked Texcat was that I was directly asked who I had blocked. If I had said, “I’m keeping it a secret until I find out some things” and then asked Hal who he’d investigated, he would know I was on to him if he was scum. And, knowing that people have been on my ass about a no block night one I didn’t want to say that I hadn’t blocked. So, I had to pick someone and it had to make sense.

I blocked Texcat the night before and there were no kills. Blocking her again would make sense. The only way that Texcat would know that I had not blocked her would be if she were scum and tried to kill. Or, if she was lying about being vanilla and had a power.

Tell me this, Total Lost. How would Texcat possibly have picked up on it? Do you know something about her that we do not?!?

Normal brought up a very good reason why there have been no night kills. It is because the next night Normal can ID the killers.

I couldn’t figure out why the scum would wait, but Natlaw just said it upthread: they are waiting for him to run out of talismans. They can then kill Mrs. McG and then get Normal the next night before she can ID them.

And the more I think about the odder it is that everyone else seems to have finite powers and OAOW’s seem to have no limits.

We know they died before having heard otherwise.

it’s not so much “no-nillas” - it also that after a mass-claim we lynch from the pool on unconfirmed. You must have know this. Didn’t you see it as natural effect following the claim?

Why did you claim?
What did you think would happen?

No I don’t. I’m voting for her. But still I find it strange that you did what you did.
However - not following the logic of a player don’t make them scum.

I just wanted to know if you considered Texcat as a vanilla redundant to town to play a gambit like that?
If not - why do it?
If so - why not vote and see how she flips?

I’m just trying to figure out why I’m shouldn’t place a “liar”-vote on you. I think I shouldn’t - but I want you to tell me why not

Missed mine.

Sorry, I don’t understand this. We had full claims from NAF and Suburban before they died. They had no bonuses. Links to claims http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=13068442&postcount=2282

You said in your original vote for me that it was because I was the only vanilla without a bonus. That is a falsehood. Now you say that it’s “not so much the no-nillas”.

Why did I claim? Because to not claim would have been suspicious enough to lynch me. What did I think would happen after the claim? That we would continue to lynch the most suspicious person. This all seems obvious to me, and not any different than before the claim.

As far as the pool of vanillas and unconfirmed goes, I don’t see that it got much smaller after the claim. Do you? Just who do you see as confirmed?

For those of you who frequent our Mafia wiki, it has suffered a spate of malicious defacements that may expose your machine to malware or other nefariousness.

Tread carefully while it is cleaned up.

Total Lost, I do find Texcat suspicious. I may even be voting for her today. But, I really want to know what you meant by this:

If I blocked someone else but claimed to have blocked a vanilla, that vanilla would have no way of picking up on it. They only way that Texcat would have known that I didn’t actually block her is if she had done something last night successfully. Or, if she some how knew that Hal was going to kill and found out that he didn’t.

How could Texcat pick up on it?

Liar is such a harsh word. But, I did indeed lie. I lied with the intention of coming clean when my trap (which couldn’t have possibly worked) was sprung.

That is why I bread crumbed it. Do you not see that? Or do you think that the two Bahs that I refer to are merely coincidence?

I’m still sticking with my vote against OAOW:

  1. He misrepresented his powers at the mass reveal, and now asks us to believe that he did so because he wanted the scum to think he was ‘approaching vanillaness’. This is a nonsense. As demonstrated by his attempt to use a power for a second time, the role as stated suggests no restriction on re-use of the powers.

  2. On night one, instead of using the Zoom Lens to see what NAF did with the book, he used a Stakeout to see who acted on NAF, who was an obvious target for townie investigators. This strikes me as making much more sense for a scum investigator than for a townie one.

  3. On that first night, he discovered that Guiri/Tom and Idle had acted on NAF. The following day, NAF revealed that he had lost the book, but OAOW chose not to act on the crucial information he held. At the same time, Telcontar (the Scum Goon) accused Idle, leading the latter to reveal that he was, in fact, a town investigator.

That’s a pretty damning case, McGinty.

What do you think of Normal’s plan? There’s been precious little discussion of it.

If I had a shotgun and was sure that I had found scum, I’d shoot them in the face. Right now, I’m getting the feeling that either you or OAOW is scum. I’d really appreciate you shooting him. I’m torn about which of you to vote for, and that would make my decision much easier. You shoot him and he’s scum? Huzzah for town! You shoot him and he’s town? Well, then we lynch you and I’m pretty sure if he’s town, you are not. Huzzah! for town!

It’s win-win, if you ask me.

Firstly, I’m not sure that OAOW is scum. My suspicions are certainly moving in that direction, but it would be nice to get some more eyes on the case against him.

Secondly, your suggestion strikes me as a real waste of my powers, trading my ability to trap for the sake of shooting someone who could be lynched instead. I’m sure the scum would breathe much easier knowing they could kill without risking a mouthful of boomstick.

Thirdly, why do you ignore the actual case against OAOW, responding instead with this “here’s what you should do if you’re innocent” crap, nudging me towards actions of dubious value for the town?

Also, you’ll have to give solid reasons, instead of vague ‘feelings’, if you want me even to consider such an action.

Yes. You can look at is as a falsehood so I’ll re-phrase it to:
I was the only living vanilla without a bonus.

It might be a bit metagaming - but I’ve never (as far as I recall) seen a mass-claim where non of the scum tried to claim vanilla. So to me it’s logic after a mass-claim to look closer at the players with vanilla-claims.

As far as confirmed, I guess you can always argue that no living player will ever be truly confirmed. But I’d say NormalPhase is getting pretty close

/OoG I’m down with a horrible cold and would like to get a better grip of the game right now. But I’m not good at thinking when running a fewer. Sorry/

I’m trying to see what went on. Why it did and what your motivation could have been.
The Bahs didn’t really mean anything to me.

I’m sorry for my relative lack of participation Today, I’ve been working more than usual. I’m happy with my vote on OAOW and this post by McGinty is as close to my thoughts as possible.

This I can’t argue with, makes me look bad.

Why the hell would a townie investigator target a guy holding an artifact stated to make him investigate as scum? Likewise why would I Zoom on NAF when it has been stated that the artifact he is holding will twist any actions he takes to make them look bad to a watcher?

I didn’t choose not to act, I just chose to stay under the radar. If you look back I went after Idle that day because what I knew, combined with his about face on NAF, made me think he was the one with the book. The nive thing there was I was able to attack him for his own actions and dodgy reasoning about them. It was just a shame it turned out to be town.
