OK, all caught up. I see that macey’s post has been added and I guess it pretty much was fishing and did look suspicious. Which is why I was so excited to get a bandwagon going against a townie. Doh! Oh, and I think Macey is a guy despite what I wrote in the previous post.
As for the book. If it’s anything like the first game, the powers go up the longer one person has it. And, they go up exponentially IMHO. Until we have someone we trust, I think it should be passed around. I’d rather have everyone have a tiny power than one person who I have no idea about achieve a very strong power.
I’m not saying Naf is scum. I’m just saying I have no reason to trust him at this point.
Well, since storyteller has interjected, I will too. That game was the second mafia game played on this board. Since then I assert that common knowledge and sophistication about the game has improved significantly to the point where ‘lessons’ from very old games are no longer valid. I very much doubt that the same strategy in M2 would fly in the current climate of paranoia and snuggle-phobia.
Never said anything about having no concern. But the fact of the matter is…anyone in this game can be any team, so it’s a moot point. No matter WHO gets the book, most of the people won’t know what side the bookholder is on.
Seriously, how can it be delegated in a good way? As far as I can tell the plan so far was “Uh, whoever asks for it”…well, scum can ask for it just as easy as Town. So that plan sucks. What else ya got?
No, the way I figure it is to pass it around. I agree MORE with the plan that we shouldn’t let more than one person get it twice for now. I’d be more suspicious of anyone who got it and then got it again the next round rather than someone who just tried for it once (which is my plan).
But obviously anyone who takes the book will get more attention than others.
*If *we get a confirmed townie, we can consider letting them hold the book. Until then, it doesn’t seem like such a good idea. And for the moment, I agree with Idle that no one should have it more than one cycle. This should ensure, given our numbers, that town holds it more frequently than scum.
I think full disclosure about the book would probably be a good thing, at least for the moment. When you get it you should tell us you have it and what you do with it or read in it or whatever. This, of course, would be letting scum have that information, as well. I think the town has the potential to benefit more from the information than the scum. If we force disclosure, it means that when scum holds the book, they will have to also disclose.
If I were story, I’d have made it so that picking up the book kills you at dawn the next day, or better yet the day after. Then i would have chuckled as I waited for people to figure it out.
Can I just point out that this is likely a bad idea. It’s the necronomicon. Have you watched any of the evil dead movies, or hell did you read story’s color? The book may grant some powers but I am willing to bet it is more than a little bit of a double edged sword. We should be keeping the confirmed pool of players as far away from it as possible until we know what it will do.
Pass it around, do nothing with it, let me keep it, these are all ideas that I am ok with. I don’t want anyone who has been confirmed touching it.
Here is a question that is almost sure to get me lynched and not get me any sort of real answer.
Does anyone have any information about the necronomicon that isn’t already available to the group at large? If you do it might benefit town if you share it. Just sayin’
Also, I am really kind of ok with being investigated toNight if you let me keep the book. I know, BUT WHAT IF I AM A GODFATHER!? Easy, lynch me if the book doesn’t kill me in a couple of Days. Or Vig me. I am sure there is a vig out there. Let’s say we give the book 4 Day/Night cycles to kill me.
I get there is a risk there, but honestly there is a risk involved in any of the options. I’ll go with the will of the town though. I won’t make another grab for the book if that’s the way we are leaning.
Personally, I think it is going to be awhile before I’ll be able to make anything close to an informed decision with respect to what is the best thing to do with the book. Until more is known, the risks of any proposal are going to be bothering me.
ok, i am going to show may ass even more so than normal. since everyone is talking about the book. and i have at least seen the movies so have at least a fleeting knowledge of the color in this sucker. is this the same book that was in army of darkness? the one that bit the shit out of ash.
in which case letting scum get hold of or retain possession of this puppy could be very very bad. at least based on my memory of the film.
clatto verata necktie (i had to google that, btw).
ok, now it is kind of coming back to me. there were actually three books, right? the one that bit and the other one that was like a black hole or something and then the real one. and he had to do the whole clamatto con cerveza thing to not make it activate, right?
Just trying to make the best use of what I have to play with. I understand you not trusting me, I don’t really expect you to, but I figure that the offer should at least be out there.
Anyone else notice that there was a bandwagon that was building up a nice head of steam before it got derailed?
I know I am partially responsible for the distractions of yesterday, but I know I am not solely responsible. I would like to go back and take a second look at how that happened.
In fact I think I will. But maybe someone else should look too.
Wait a minute here. Where have I been saying that NAF should get to keep the book? NAF’s been saying that. I’ve been trying to come up with a better plan.
But for a start, my understanding is that each Day and Night there’s a new chance for us all to pick up the Book. If that’s not right - if NAF’s now got it until he chooses to relinquish it - then allow me to amend my plan. NAF should give up the Book.
Really? I’ve not been clear? My plan is that during the Day NO-ONE gets it. It sits there on its little stand, untouched by all. If you’re concerned that scum can ask for it as easy as Town, this should be a plan that appeals to you massively.
Once again: During the Day, no-one touches the Book, on pain of lynching. At Night, it’s a free-for-all - but you have tell us you got it. If you get caught lying about that, you get lynched. And if you get it, you have to give it up after one read.
Other than the fact that it will be personally gratifying to get the Book, what are the flaws in this plan? Normal pointed out one - the risk of IDing vanillas. Are there others? Is this flaw so big the alternatives are better?
