Evil Dead Mafia II - Teaser and Sign-Ups [Game On!]

ohhh! Or this is also an indication that if Scum do have Vanilla role claims, then Oy! is not Scum (doesn’t rule out 3rd party)

(I made this post a while ago, but neglected to notice that it didn’t send because of the 60 second rule)

Yeah, but if you don’t have a good chance to wiggle out of the noose, why use up a claim? “There’s no extra loss to killing me and I don’t want you to unvote me” isn’t the kind of claim that gets people off the scaffold. So why bother? If you’re going to fake claim, you have to do it enthusiastically enough to make it likely to work. (And doing it weakly to bluff someone like me is a similarly low-percentage shot.)

Power roles are always individualised, by their nature. Did you mean, would scum have not noticed that the **vanilla **roles were individualised?

otay, then.

mcginty i am still voting for you because of the roman stuff. it seemed like you were really convinced he was skimming town as opposed to focused scum. and i have never played with the either of you before (at least i don’t think so) so perhaps your observation was spot on. but i don’t have that background and it just seems like you were trying to distance yourself from a “slip” that you knew to be honest.

It seemed like I was really convinced? How do you read that into anything I said?

Yes…yes I did.

Aw, fuck it. No, I’m not vanilla. I screwed up, and I knew it a couple of minutes after I made that post, but by then I was on my way out of the door.

Here is my role:

Welcome to the game; you are the Novice Witch

ALIGNMENT: Town
GENERIC: Inventor
WIN CONDITION: All Scum and malicious third-parties (if any) have been vanquished.

BACKGROUND:

You have only recently discovered the art of witchcraft. You are an idealist at heart, and you firmly believe that the power of love, nature, and fluffy puppies can overcome even the darkest of evil magic. Accordingly, when you heard of the demon threat centering on this lonely cabin in the woods, you collected up your best magickal materials and hastened to play your part in the coming battle.

Too bad you didn’t read past Page Six of Sabrina’s Big Book of Spells; there’s some really kick-ass stuff in there.

Ah, well. You have what you have. You are at heart a pacifist, and your goal is to avoid bloodshed wherever possible; accordingly, your powers are supportive and protective in nature.

Good luck!

POWERS:

On any given Night, you may choose to use any of the items below to cast a spell targeting the player of your choice. The spell will permanently consume the item; if you run out of items, you run out of powers.

  1. Small Mirror - With this small mirror, you may cast an enchantment on yourself to make you resemble another player. For that Night, any actions targeting you will fail. Any actions targeting your target will affect you instead.

  2. Blue Crystal - Use this item and you will be able to observe the player of your choice in his/her travels for that Night, and learn his or her target.

  3. White Powder - With this item, you may cast a spell rendering the player of your choice stronger and more skillful; any actions attempted by this player on the Night after you cast the spell will succeed, even if the player is role-blocked or otherwise prevented from acting (a player operating under the influence of the White Powder will be able to penetrate the illusion generated by the Small Mirror, #1 above). You may use the white powder on yourself, if you wish.

  4. Clay Doll - With this item, you may cast a spell that will reveal the role name and generic power description (but not alignment) of a player of your choice. The spell creates a bond between you and the targeted player, such that he or she will know that you have targeted them with an investigative ability.

  5. Small, Fragile Flower - Gift a player (including yourself) with this small, fragile flower and that player will be immune to Night kills for one Night at his or her discretion. A full Night of wearing the flower will cause it to wilt. Also note: the flower functions to protect a player only if no other actions are directed against that player during the Night.

  6. Incense - There’s nothing magical about this stuff; it just stinks. Burn it in your room overnight and the scent will overpower any living being who attempts to target you with any action, repelling them and saving your life. Deadites, being from the bleakest, foulest pits of a Demon Dimension (Newark, NJ, to be specific), don’t mind the smell and will not be affected.

So there it is.

Now, if you guys want, you can back off lynching Oredigger and I can use the Clay Doll toNight to verify that he is the Pharma Rep. Note that this will not confirm whether or not he is Town, so if he’s Scum, he might have just changed the alignment on his PM and posted it otherwise as is. I don’t think he’s Scum, but given how poorly I’ve played thus far, don’t take my word for it.

If I use the Clay Doll, though, I will need Protection over Night, assuming we die all the way dead in this game, in order to tell you my results. In fact, I kinda need protection in any case, since I assume a Scum roleblocker could block my self-protection ability (Small Fragile Flower) and let Scum kill me anyway.

I am open to ideas as to how best to use my powers.

I’m sorry, Town, that I’ve played so poorly.

Holy crap.

Man this has been an interesting Day 1. I like Oy’s plan since it keeps me alive and create some confirmed town.

Well, I didn’t see that coming. When you first replied, you implied that you were vanilla (at least, that’s what I read into it) so are you trying to recover from that slip since others are asking you explicitly if you are vanilla?

But her action would not confirm your alignment.

The problem is, I don’t see any way to create any confirmed Town with my powers. As I pointed out, if I confirm that you are the Pharma Rep, that doesn’t mean you didn’t just change the Alignment on your PM. I can use the Blue Crystal to tell you all if someone commits an Action on another player, but I don’t think I’ll know what that action is.

It’s a cool role, but it’s not as useful as it might look at first glance.

Oy! :
Why did you feel the need to claim? You’re not under lynch pressure, and you could have stuck with your/Drainbead’s explanation for your post: that you had a generic looking vanilla PM. The scum would have had a bit of WIFOM to play with, but they often do. As it is, it’s kind of random to claim now, especially as a power role.

Special Ed: Why did you ask him if he was specifically claiming vanilla? This is precisely the sort of thing that town should be happy to leave ambiguous until a person is near to be lynched.

<bolding mine>

see above

You kno, and as I read Oy’s comments, I thought it was a good way to keep WiFoM on the Vanilla/Power thing.

So much for the thinking carefully before answering the question, eh?

Yes, I was trying to imply I was vanilla without lying. Obviously it didn’t work very well, but once I’d screwed up, it was the best I could come up with.

You learn by playing - tip for the future: it wasn’t at all necessary to reveal all your item just you because you slipped you are a power role.

Now scum (if you’re truthful) know exactly what you can do and it doesn’t look all that harmful to them to me (unless you get lucky tracking the killer).
I see no point in wasting the doll on Oredigger unless you suspect him to be a scum power role.

On the Book: in my mind taking it wasn’t replacing Night Action but using the Book would be. But since was wrong about that letting the Book trade hands at Night seems better.

True but it would confirm Oy.

Don’t know about Ed, but I was planing on voting to lynch Oy! if he had said yes. (Oy,are you a he?)

True. The way NAF phrased it was better.

Once I noticed the ambiguity of Oy’s response, I was satisfied. I’m not sure what caused the full claim

Ut would confirm Oy? in what way?

That Oy can say you are honest about your name? Big deal. If Oy says you are and you lied, are you going to point that out?

And, even under different circumstance, the best it can prove is Oy’s power, not alignment.
