Evil Dead Mafia II - Teaser and Sign-Ups [Game On!]

The simple and likeliest answer is because I’m obviously too stupid to be Scum.

quick question naf. did you think that her question outed her as a town power role or as scum?

just curious.

neta: in your opinion, of course.

Why would the scum care and/or point out that the vanilla PMs had different color?

Leave work, come home to make tead and find the thread boiling over!

Really not liking Oredigger’s wanting to burn one of Oy’s powers, to “confirm” him, when it wouldn’t even do that

I didn’t know, which is one of the reasons why I posted it, as I said before. I had been leaning town on Oy, but I wasn’t sure so when in doubt I post.

I am not sure I understand your question, want to rephrase for me?

Can you see a scum forgetting to edit that out of their claim?

You had asked Drain Bead why he didn’t think Oy! was scum because of the slip. I was wondering why you would think she was scum with that slip, i.e., if Oy! were scum, why would she care if the vanilla PMs were the same or not.

My first thought was that she was a vanilla town whose PM didn’t match Oredigger’s. It didn’t occur to me that she would be scum pointing out that the vanilla PMs are different (if she were scum, how would she know anyway? and if she didn’t know, why bring it up for discussion at all?). Of course, it didn’t occur to me that she was a town power role either so maybe I just missed the boat entirely on this discussion!

This may be.

The only people (other than vanilla town) who would not know that all the Vanilla PMs are individualized are people who didn’t pay enough attention to the sample PM. I can see either town power roles or scum falling into this category. But either way the post advertised that she was not vanilla town.

I am not saying that I thought she was scum because of the slip, I am saying that I didn’t know one way or the other. The slip placed her in only one category, non vanilla town. She could have been scum, town power role, or other.

I think it’s interesting that DB automatically assumed power role and not scum or other and want to know why she was sure enough of that to try to help Oy! hide.

Just so you know.

Saying something in a game thread that implies you have a power is not unusual. It’s happened several times over the years, and it’s not just new players who do it. It’s not going to ruin the game.

While I would not have revealed my items or what they do, I can’t hold being honest against you, because honesty is the best policy for Townies, flavoured with a bit of discretion. I usually advise people to tell the truth and nothing but the truth. I might, in your situation, have admitted to having a power, or even being an Inventor, but not much more.

fair enough, for now.

<snipped>

ok, because i have to.

what the fuck is tead? sounds nasty as all shit.

I see. Thanks for the explanation.

tea. The meal of the evening. Damn the no edit rule…

vote NAF**

So, this is a day when i’m increasingly suspicious of…everyone. Well, I now have a good feeling about Oy because the claim came in such a way that 1.) a well advised scum would have never gotten into the position of making it 2.) a poorly/unadvised scum would have made it badly (something about the ham-handedness of it screams innocent to me), but the rest of you are shifty. Anyway, to NAF:

NAF has been a very active player and I’m not going to attempt an out and out WOW on him. But I really didn’t like his pursuit of Oy’s previously ambiguous power status. When a player says something that strongly implies they’re not vanilla, i think the best thing to do is watch them. There was no reason to force a claim now, Oy wasn’t being scummier than Oredigger for example, and in the morning we’d either have 1.) a dead Oy (no puzzle) 2.) a living Oy who was either scum or a town power role who had done something. Either way, we’d be in a better position to evaluate Oy.

I’d be more suspicious of special ed for the same, but he did this with chronos last game so i see it as part of his playstyle (if an unfortunate part).

Other comments: I don’t like some of what has been emanating from Chup, but that’s partially dependent on whether oredigger is scum. If oredigger is, then we should consider chup tomorrow. Otherwise a lot of it is probably in the null tell category.

I don’t buy peeker’s case against Mrs McGinty. Yes, it is a bit risky for a town player to stick their neck out for an unknown quantity, but McGinty was mostly pushing an informational case (I know this about romanic’s playstyle) rather than an affective case (i have a good feeling about him). I might have done the same

Oy: With your powers you’re probably going to find yourself playing a probability game with the mafia. Your role is actually moderately powerful, so they’ll be tempted to off you (or block you, presuming they can). so each night you’ll have to roll the dice and decide whether to risk investigating/watching. Key point: don’t tell us what you’re doing in advance.

Thanks, MHaye. But at that point, it seemed to me that the primary benefit in admitting anything was to get some guidance as to how to use my powers. It seemed pretty obvious that my “ambiguous” post wasn’t holding water, despite Drain Bead’s efforts. And frankly, it never occurred to me to partially claim. Never even crossed my mind, and I don’t think it would have no matter how long I waited. I guess it’s because when I’ve seen partial claims, they’ve usually struck me as lame, and often scummy.

I realized that I have a big bull’s eye on my back. I might as well get some value for it, and possibly some protection as well. It’s possible I might live until toMorrow Morning, and if I do, I’d like to have done something useful. But I don’t know what to do. I’ve had a couple people who strike me as suspicious, a couple of people who strike me as townie, and the majority of people who strike me as neither. I don’t know if it’s best to identify or track or protect or amplify, and I don’t know who to do it to anyway.

Telcontar, I’ll be happy not to tell anyone who I’m doing what to, but I’d sure like some advice as to who to (secretly) do it to!

You’ve never heard of the British dish “tead-in-the-heel?”

fuck, i am glad i don’t live in your area.

meal of the evening: bacon cheeseburger or chili dogs.

i’d just be pissing all night if all i had was a couple of glasses of tea for dinner.

@peekercpa

Those quotes do not show that I was convinced of anything.

They show me stating a belief that Roman was more likely to be town than scum, and then having to explain the initial reasoning, as others misread or misunderstood what I had said.

And the part you bolded has me pointing out that, contrary to what was being mooted at the time, the more likely case against me was one of PIS if Roman turned out to be innocent, rather than one of supporting my mafia buddy if Roman turned out guilty.

If you think I’m shown up scum thanks to PIS, then you’ve at least got to make a better case against me than I made against myself. Otherwise your vote is meaningless and, therefore, rather scummy.
