Evil Dead Mafia II - Teaser and Sign-Ups [Game On!]

Is there any way of knowing whether or not Chipacabra died in a protective capacity?

I wonder how much we should read into the color. It doesn’t indicate that Chip was protecting anybody when he died. But, of course, the color is just the color.

Was there any precedent in the previous Story game for the color to indicate power usage?

From the Dawn Post

Should this be taken literally? Does this indicate that perhaps there was a watcher investigating either Chip or his killer? If so, why would Story let us know? Perhaps someone has used a power that makes them visible to all? What might that be?

Sorry, I’ve got no answers to any of these questions as of yet…unless someone wants to volunteer that they were watching Chip (or someone else) last night? But I’m not sure if that would be a wise thing to do at this point.

I guess the Martyr is not as potentially straight forward as I thought. I got my idea from Common Mafia Roles - Smogon University, and the Evil Dead 1 role seems to be a variation on that (redirecting the target of powers vs redirecting the thrower of powers), and then there is another usage on Wikipedia indicating that it can be a sort of Re-animator role.

It would be nice to know if Chip’s power had a hand in his own demise, but I don’t know how wise it is to be too curious about that.

OK, I had got it into my head (for no apparent reason) that Chip’s power would be a Day action. Upon rereading the Dawn Post, it does look like he might have ‘protected’ someone last Night, and that someone might have been the ‘third person’.
Or not.

I will say that is some n00b-pandering color. Chip gets dialogue AND beer and poor Mhaye barely gets 2 words.

Ok, so here is the PM I got from Story, with the nature of the power redacted. I don’t know who has the book, and I don’t want them knowing what the power does until I do. That said, it doesn’t do what it would seem to at first glance, but it does make sense when you read the description.

In Evil Dead 1, when the Skanky Vampire role-blocked by being a skank, her target would have been told they had a very pleasant night. However, she was killed off before getting a chance to sleep around.

This, I think, surprises no one. Also, arg! Frikkin’ demon sumbitches!
I’d like to think I gave them hella wedgies on the way out.

After saying three times there will be no post restrictions, I’m pretty sure there will be no post restrictions. :stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe after he says it three times it summons Beetlejuice or something…

RIP MHaye and Chip.

I may change upon further developments, but for now,
Vote: NAF.

I don’t like the way that he insisted on keeping the book. He says that it was taken from him, but again we have no proof that is the case. I’m not sure that I like his secrecy about what happened last night with his curse.

That’s what I was thinking. I can’t see a game mechanic that would allow the book to be taken. There are very specific options and rules laid out by Story, and I saw nothing that would indicate that the book could be taken if you tried to use it.

But, a scum NAF could have grabbed the book and went all noble with the “I’ll sacrifice my self for the greater good schitck” only to end up with it “stolen”.

I’m having a hard time swallowing that one. Sounds like a carefully connived scummy plan to me.

NETA - no I can see a game mechanic that would allow it. Like, if the book were to be used against the biggest baddest hell beast of all - as in evil Ash. As I recall, it’s his book and if it were to be used against him, he could conceivably take it back.

However, that means that either NAF is evil ash (in which case he took it from himself?!?), didn’t use it on himself, or is making shit up.

This is all speculation, but that’s all I got.

I no longer think NAF is as scummy or suspicious as I did before since he doesn’t have the book anymore.
Oh, sure, he could have actually passed it on to another scum, if he’s scum himself…but my entire suspicion on him was mostly only because he insisted on keeping the book. Putting it back on the pedestal (my preferred choice), passing it on, or losing it to someone else is keeping it in motion, at least.

Do anyone want to admit to having the book? I’m betting not. I don’t. And if everyone ingame says they don’t have it, either scum does and doesn’t want to admit it or it’s in some kind of game limbo right now known only to Storyteller.

Did you read this?

Good point Ed.

Any further description of what the book power did to you?

The third person could be the person **Chip **was protecting.

I read it. It says that " Anyone who takes the book by Night will sacrifice any other Night action they might have to do so, and will also be subject to observation by a variety of interested onlookers." So, if someone took the book from NAF, then they should have been seen by anyone who was looking.

Which implies that someone would need to be watching NAF in order to have the theft noticed. I’d say it’s probable that if we have a watcher, they would have been watching NAF last night to see what actions he actually took. So someone should have seen the theft.

Unless, of course, the “shroud of darkness” prevented any watchers from seeing what happened to NAF, thus allowing the thief to escape without notice.

Very convenient.

So what we know for certain is that NAF took the Book on Day 1. All other information is only as reliable as NAF himself is, which is to say, somewhere between 0 and 100%.

I would assume that whomever has the book at the moment is not Town. There is no evidence to support this assumption, but it’s my ‘gut feeling’. The question is: is that person currently NAF, or someone else?
