Evil Dead Mafia II - Teaser and Sign-Ups [Game On!]

yes I read that. I assume you’re referring to this part?

Unless I"m mistaken, it means that anyone can take it off the desk at any time day or night. Which would necessitate NAF returning it. Nope, pretty sure NAF still has it.

Unvote Telcontar

Vote NAF1138

It doesn’t say off the desk.

It just says they can take it.
Story, in order to take the book during the Day, do you need to know who has the book?

Can I just flood you with PMs saying, “I’d like to take the Book from NAF”? “I’d like to take the book from brewha”, “I’d like to take the book from Whoever”?

Anyone was permitted to take the book from its resting place on the pedestal in the living room. Now that it has been taken, the rules are different.

That’s not what it did. The shroud of darkness is a type of roleblock power…sort of. It really isn’t in the town’s best interest for me to go into further detail, but I will say that there is *almost *no pro-town use of the power that I can think of. It did not protect me from an investigation or being watched or anything else. If anyone watched me last Night it should have looked like I tried to kill myself.

I am actually hoping someone did watch me because that would give what I am saying a little bit of credence, and the color would probably have been fun for story to write.

I just tried to take the book back on the theory that everyone would see me take it back, but story wouldn’t let me.

I would suggest that maybe someone try to claim the book today.

I had thought of that. That you’d need to know who has the book in order to take it. But, it has been said that if you take the book, everyone will see you take it. It’s no secret as to who has it, so if it were that easy to take it, it’d be essentially worthless.

And no, it doesn’t say off the desk, but it does say that the book is currently on the desk. And then it says that anyone can take it, day or night. It says nothing about the rules once someone possesses the book. It just doesn’t feel right to me.

Ah, just saw story’s post. Nevermind that last bit.

I wouldn’t blame you for lynching me.

Here is what story wrote to me when I tried to take the book.

Shoot, I shoulda previewed. But, yeah, that’s how I interpreted it.

oooooohhhhhhh
[Emily Litella] never mind [/ Emily Litella]

Sadly this is the point in the game where I would really be hoping that story or MHaye would post something longish and analytical so I could get a fresh perspective on things. As it is I think I am just going to have to walk away for a while.

If you decide to lynch me, that’s fine. I really don’t blame you. But can I put in a plea for town not to get totally wrapped up in what is going on with the book and to actually start looking at votes cast and deaths played and people’s reactions to all of that.

I am going to still try to make some cases toDay, but I need a break.

NAF

So you’re saying that the “Shroud of Night” did not affect anyone’s ability to watch you, but it did affect your ability to detect someone taking the book from you?

Or are the two things (the ‘usage of the Book’ and the ‘theft of the Book’) unrelated, in your opinion?

I think they are unrelated. There is a small, very small, possibility that my perception that the book has been taken was caused by the Shroud of Night but I don’t think that’s the case. Like I said, the Shroud is sort of a roleblocker power, kind of so it wouldn’t prevent anyone doing anything to me.

As much as I think we can’t afford to trust NAF too much at this point, he does have a good point here. We have spent a lot of time Today discussing the Book, and pretty much no time at all discussing anything else.

What are the chances that this book is nothing but a MacGuffin?

Well, I won’t say “zero chance”, but I should certainly hope not. It’s a cool part of the color and would be disappointing if it is nothing. It’d be like if in Lord of the Rings, we had no Ring(or the Ring served no purpose). For better or worse, I had to have in in Lord of the Rings in some way. I think the book has to do something.

I think there is still reasonable doubt that NAF is aligned against the town. I’m willing to see how things go for another cycle or two in regards to the book, assuming we get any more information about the book that we are sure is actually about the book. Further, I think NAF makes a very convenient target for scum manipulation assuming that he is Town and relaying the book details honestly.

… something longish and analytical …

Go Town.

How much of a scum tell is hard-core lurking?

Omi no Kami hasn’t posted in the game thread since the 5th. I was originally just checking up on people I didn’t have much of a read on, but something about Omi’s last post pinged my scumdar.

Before I get there, though, let’s break down Omi’s 7 posts.

Post #!: Omi signs up for the game.
Post #3: Omi weighs in on the editing debate.
Post #4: Omi is against a mass claim.
Post #5: Omi is against a handshake as well.
Post #6: Omi elaborates on the dangers of a handshake.

So far, I’m just seeing a lot of fluff and gameplay mechanics debate. Then there’s Omi’s 7th, and so far final, post:

I find this to be an incredibly scummy post. Omi is 60% sure Romanic is scum, which is fair enough; a lot of us thought he was scum. Omi also believes the claim is false. But Omi never placed a vote on Romanic. 60% sure for a Day 1 lynch is HUGE. It seemed like a slam dunk to everyone else, and Omi seems just as convinced. Only she never committed to a vote (on Romanic or anyone else), and has been lurking ever since. It seems pretty waffly to me to say you’re more sure than not that someone is scum, but not vote for them. Seems like something a scummy Omi who knew how Romanic would flip would do.

Of course, maybe Romanic walked before Omi could return and place her vote. Maybe. Romanic walks a whole day after Omi makes her post, and I’m still bothered by the fact that Omi didn’t feel the need to weigh in on any other lynch candidate.

So, for the scummy post and the lurking, I’m gonna vote Omi no Kami.

Of course, now that I’ve voted, I admit that there could be plenty of reasons for Omi’s absence. Real-life issues could have intervened. So I’m hoping you’ll check in and defend yourself, Omi.

Thanks, that helped.

I agree, and would be very disappointed if it turned out to be nothing, but I figured the question was worth asking.

There’s no hard evidence against NAF at the moment, but the ‘NAF is lying’ scenario seems to be a lot more plausible than any of the various scenarios I can think of that both satisfy ‘NAF is being truthful’ and adequately explain the events of last Night.

That being said, I’m not sure that’s enough to convict NAF quite yet, especially considering we’re already down 4 Townies. It seems like there are still quite a few people we haven’t heard much from Today, and one or more of them might have some information to contribute. I’d like to hear at least something from the half the Town that hasn’t posted yet Today.

@ Idle, in post #1156 you said this about NAF:

In post #1195 you seemed to have changed your opinion of him (bolding added):

Apart from his claim, do you have any reason to believe he no longer has the book?

Are you asking for a potential watcher to out themselves on Day 2 in order to give your claim credence?
